  1. Stick with the rats and mice eh, don't try and improve the quality of racing in Auckland, good thinking ?
  2. Must agree Manukau Greyhound Racing is very average with a lot of smash and bash lower grade 318m races, when punting just throw a dart at the field, and you might pick a winner ?
  3. Good to see some lower grade races over 520m at Manukau last Sunday, good race between Princes Alea and Gee Thunder with Gee Thunder just getting the better of Princess Alea. A lot better viewing than the 318m smash and bash at the first turn, a progressive Club would figure out how to accomodate a 400m race which would suit dogs which are not suited to the Manukau 318m races and who do not have the stamina for the 520m. Food for thought in the future of racing at Manukau Greyhounds. In thoroughbred racing they have 1000m through to 3200m, and the harness racing they go from 1600m through to 3200m, not all dogs are suited to 318m ?
  4. Mikey thanks for educating me just had a mate saying there should be some 400m races at Auckland because his dogs are too slow for 318 and are not strong enough for the 527 guess we are going the same way as the Aussie Horse Racing Industry, breeding sprinters and letting the stayers go to the dogs, at least there are a few like Arch Lawrence around who are trying to keep staying races alive here in NZ, I'll discuss it further in the Turangi Hotel tonight while having a pint Jimmy.
  5. Who gives a rats a*** whether it's termed a sprint race or not I just think Auckland Greyhound Racing should seriously consider having middle distance races as not all dogs are sprinters and not all dogs are distance dogs, it would make racing at Manukau more interesting for the trainers, owners & punters. Can someone tell me whether it is practical to have middle distance races at Manukau or is in the all too hard basket?
  6. There has been talk around Auckland Greyhounds for years about running some middle distance races say 400 metres for greyhounds, makes sense as not all dogs are sprinters or distance dogs, in horse racing we have 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 2000, 2200, 2400 & 3200m, however at Auckland Greyhounds on a normal day we just have the two distances, 315 & 527m. It would make life more interesting for the punters and trainers who could then set their dogs up for these races, as some dogs are more suited for these type of middle distance races. Just like horses some are more suited to 1600m or 2000m Cox Plate type races ie Sunline, some are more suited to sprinting races ie Black Caviar, and some are more suited to 3200m like Maykabe Diva? Food for thought?
  7. Evidently Phar Lap suffered from arsenic poisoning?
  8. Just fishing for information heard the rumour when having a few drinks at the DB Turangi Hotel last week when I had a days leave from Her Majesty's Motel in Turangi, real name is Jimmy Tuwharetoa.
  9. Heard a rumour last week that arsenic is being regularly used in the greyhound industry in Australia and NZ? Does anyone know the tolerance levels and withholding periods?
  10. When are the TAB going to upgrade their terminals across the country, I complained via email about the terminals at the Greyhounds Auckland Cup Meeting, and low and behold I returned yesterday and the terminal are still stuffed. This National Government is bleeding the TAB dry no wonder racing is stuffed in NEW ZEALAND?
  11. Looks like this site is regularly inhabited by wind up merchants and trolls all having a go at each other? Constructive arguments and positive solutions to industry problems and concerns would be better for all concerned, especially the future direction and improvement of the greyhound industry in NZ, that would be a good start? Making unsubstantiated claims is damaging to all concerned and the greyhound industry as a whole. It aint particularly good.
  12. Is Hound Fan still working undercover as a PI
  13. Sounds like the Sausage Pulling Society is extremely active today on this major issue.
