  1. Could I ask what database you are using to get that information?
  2. You are a champion! Many thanks.
  3. I am trying to find current relations of a horse that raced in the 70's called Noir Dore (born 1970 by Paracourt out of Passing). NZ Stud Book online seems to have limited information. If anybody knows of other resources or have access to Studbook from back that far back and can help me out, it would be much appreciated.
  4. As a betting medium racing is close to being donald ducked. Go to any high school in Australia or New Zealand and ask the 17/18 year old (predominantly males) what they are betting on and it is not racing. It is sports betting and the reasons I think it is so is: the way that on each game (basketball, football, rugby, league, AFL etc.) you can multi up several events (quarter, half, full time leader, leading goal kicker/try scorer, first to score, so and so to get x many stats and on and on and on it goes). For a smallish outlay, you can win relatively big. Doing the form on sports betting is much easier for them, they understand it. Doing the form on racing is hard for them and still has the stigma of "being dodgy" racing is not relevant to the younger generation - other than being a party place once or twice a year.
  5. Just off the top of my rather fat head, and not because I necessarily agree or disagree with you, but some points to throw into consideration: 1) Comparing jockeys to drivers is not apples with apples, since the drivers drive for a team and jockeys are independent contractors. 2) Fines just become a tax that some OWNERS will be willing to pay on behalf of the jockey - especially the win at all cost ones. 3) Relegation without suspension of the jockey really only penalises the owner - just like a real estate agent is prepared to cop $100,000 less in sale price - impact on them is far less than impact on the vendor. I am not sure what the best answer is - is there anywhere else in the world that does it different and better?
  6. You can actually look up what he is doing - to a certain extent - as all trackwork is logged on the HKJC website. Apologies if this has been mentioned before.
  7. You could ask him, but I don't think he would be able to speak this morning.
  8. Try this for the winning owner of race 10 at the Valley:
  9. I would add that Racing.com do some great non-raceday stuff. One I stumbled across the other day was a mini-doc type piece on Eric Musgrove - worth a watch. "Eric Musgrove - Grand Jumper" is the name of it.
  10. I cannot comment on Trackside as I do not watch it. I do watch a bit of Racing.com and Sky Channel in Australia though. Sky does an okay job of rushing through a pre and post race analysis, given that they are all about volume (as in number of races). Racing.com do less events so have more time and do, again, an okay job. Usually one pre-race chat with a trainer and a good mounting yard preview. Post race you almost always hear from the winning trainer and jockey. Now, by the nature of the beast the questions they ask are always going to be formulaic. Pre-race - e.g. "What are your expectations", "how has the lead up been", "can you turn tables on horse X", Post race - "Thoughts on the run", "Were you expecting that (long odds winner)", "Where to from here", etc. Racing.com especially, I have noticed some annoying lingo creeping in, "playing on a fair deck" (when did a track become a deck?), getting odds is "Shopping", the map the map the bloody map! Anyway it all comes down to want you want. I feel that there really is a narrow band of questions that can be asked, with a bit of scope for some colour depending on who wins and what the race is. I will throw it out there, let's develop a "question bank", what would you like to see asked pre and post race. BTW, if you want to see a classic post race interview with an owner, search up the racing.com interview with the owner of the winner of the last at Moonee Valley yesterday. Brilliant.
  11. Sorry, I should have noted that I am based in Victoria, hence my interest in him.
  12. Is there anybody that is willing to share an opinion on Wyndspelle as a stallion and his likely prospects? He won't have runners till next season at earliest, but if anyone has first hand experience of his progeny that would be most appreciated. Any thoughts on sending a Star Witness mare to him? Thanks in advance.
  13. The punter would be betting on something else. Both groups need each other. Interesting to see the new racing Victoria boss seems to believe the punter is top of the tree. There was a video on racing.com that has him expressing this view.
  14. Well done. Nice horse and a really good win.
  15. Is there any website that provides a blackbook service with the functionality to list an entire race (e.g. Caulfield Guineas entries approx. 324) without having to enter each horse individually? Cheers
  16. Potentially. I sent a message directly to you. Have you received that?
  17. Is there any technical reason why this type of camera vision cannot be supplied in real time for all runners in a race? Then anyone could tap into it and "ride with" the jockey of any horse they wish.
  18. In terms of marketing, I do not know if it is coincidental or the result of a change in the Facebook algorithm, but I seem to be seeing a lot more human interest racing stories being pushed out by the Love Racing brand.
  19. It is behind a paywall. Cannot read the article.
  20. From the Stewards Report: The start was delayed after ATHENE and KAARERAWAY had arrived behind the barriers wearing the wrong saddle cloth numbers necessitating both runners having to be re-saddled. T Rae (ATHENE & KAARERAWAY) - Admitted a charge of neglect in saddling after her two runners were presented with incorrect saddlecloth numbers. After considering submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $150. The trainer obviously has some responsibility in getting the right saddle/lead (if required) and saddle cloth on the right horse. What other checks take place? Presume the clerk of scales must make sure the jockey weighs out with right number? Are brands checked against number in the mounting yard? How did the error get picked up?
  21. Okay, will keep an eye on it. Owned by one of the battling Sheiks?
