  1. Point noted, Will be my last post regarding this topic.
  2. Midget, Noted. You are quite right. Perhaps a case of Blue collar and hard working needing a genuine but bent quid V's White Collar Accountant in the Ivory Tower where penalties don't apply equally? I fondly remember having a cigarette with Mr Walker at Hastings a few years ago, we chatted, much about nothing, he was really polite and talkative, said to me that he didn't get the best rides, but was a nice Guy to talk to and appeared hard working. Back to Quirke, It is the same Bloke! Previous director of Syndicated Finance Limited & Carfinance.co.nz Limited. Both Companies were "Struck Off" to be fair, before this dastidly deed manifested itself but again what really was his history and credentials? What checks were really made from VIP Punter to Cheif Handicapper to Guilty Your Honour to Resignation at 6.33pm Thursday the 3rd of March 2016. I think some people really need to ask themselves, are they actually qualified to be or remain in the positions they do? As in his Appointie(s)?
  3. Please refer my previous sentiments / observations regarding timing. Mr Quirke resigned, Thursday the 3rd of March at 6.33pm. (Quote NZTR Media Release) Just what is this shit about? Hiding, hiding and more hiding! Just as I previously posted. I pity the poor bloke looking for future employment? A "Google" of his name reveals more listings relating to this topic than there are Smith's in the Phone Book. Further investigation, if it's the same bloke? Sees him historically tied up with what appears to be a couple of Finance Companies? I do note, dates re both Companies go back prior to these more recent matters and are prior to these current shannigans being played out, but did other Shareholders / Directors of those Companies have a lucky escape by not or no longer being associated with this man? Had those Companies had investors under his watch, if it is indeed the same Guy, then I would suggest there would have been a run on funds given the comments reported of circa 60K per month being turned over on the Punt. I note, again if it's the same bloke, that one Company was placed in Liquidation, again, it pre-dates this matter but simply is a bloody poor look! According to other posts and history he is / was a qualified Accountant?
  4. Who cares, racing got on Mainstream TV Channel 1. Excluding Melbourne Cup(s) if applicable in recent times, when did a Racing Story hit the T V Sports News last?
  5. What a fantastic topic to consider? Teharanikau, (New Years meeting) yes they charge, but do indeed supply a wonderful environment for a day of racing. Boot parties / picnics galore and the course has been a wonderful institution since time in memorial when they host a meeting. A country and family meeting at its best. Racing, not so good? Fast forward to the WRC and Wellington Cup Day! Well what a Circus! Extremely limited, and I mean to members, let alone the general public, (they don't count) One had to apply for a special "paid" (yes, at further additional cost) limited to members only for the privilege of $100.00 over and above their annual membership to host or have a small (spaces measured) picnic. The zone 150 Meters from the track no less. Now get this, come 8.00pm, the "Big Boss Man" and Security henchmen descended "on block" to kick every last member, the Hell out of their premises! Middle aged and Old, (Note the young were looooonnnngggg gone) gone or be threatened with the long arm of the Law! No drunks, No fights, No anything except their loyal paying additional members, friends, etc. Booted out like low rent hunks of shit. Would you be in a hurry to return? I think Not!
  6. This is the "Age old Chestnut" and a fundamental problem that remains in NZ Racing. Yesterday we were winners in a rating 85 $25,000 race, over the moon and delighted of course. We only beat 5 others in what ostensibly is a "going through the grades race". The same sort of race could have been on a Tuesday at Waikickamoocow for $8,000? May have been 6 or there may have been a doz lining up? The pity and my point is having started in many races of going through or trying to go through the grades where a 3rd, 4th or 5th is only achieved and such a small return in stakes comes, leaves such a disappointing taste V's costs of getting to the race being the same. Why would it not be a silly idea to have a sound but increased limit of X $$$$$ for Maidens, R65, 75 and even perhaps R85? For these horses it's all about going through the grades. If the horse is only an average battler, it hopefully will still be covering at least the costs of going to the races. Coming up at Ellerslie, 50K is on offer for such races, still a chance and based on the 25k of yesterday that only 6 or 7 will turn up. I'm sure there will still be highs & lows of numbers, but it will never be about the actual stake. For running 4th should not be a financial imposition on taking a horse to the races where place money received is only, equal to less than the horse even departing the trainers premises?
  7. Please just be a little careful re the Subject of Employment, Don't fall in to a Social Media Trap? Once Employment matters have been resolved, should commentary be made. Not before! Stupidity exists at any and all Levels in today's environment where a slip of the tongue can become a monumental F- Up! Once resolved, comment accordingly.
  8. Purcells used to get "Whites, Whiter than White"? This Joker gets them Grayer and Greyer. No spelling mistake made / intended.
  9. Slam Dunk; This is now my 3rd post to this forum. Yes I can confirm that I am New to this medium of passing on one's opinion. Isn't this the basis of why this forum exists? I can equally confirm I have been an active reader of Race Cafe because I love our game as a punter, owner and useless breeder. To the best of my knowledge, rubbish, such as this (Quirke) is a little New? Not withstanding the odd silly shenanigans where Jockeys are concerned? Again I stand to be corrected? This Guy should have known better? This topic was simply too much to ignore. Suggestions of Cobalt or more importantly, proved charges of Cobalt in NZ Racing would equally have been too much for this writer to let go bye. Personalities, Grudges, History, etc are Not my motivation! This was why I don't understand the link you made towards one of my sentences, re my statement "Cobalt Quirke / Quirke Cobalt"?Somewhere in the posts regarding this topic it was mentioned. Again I stand corrected? I didn't / don't understand why, except practices, that, again are bloody bent if proved (Quirke yes) are incredibly detrimental to the general persona of the game we all love. My motivation has been, and I said it in my last post, is the negativity surrounding bent shit within the industry where this sort of personal arrogance deems Quirke (in this case) to be above and beyond! Should any NZ Trainer be successfully charged re Cobalt, Drugs, Doping, then I would equally take to the I-Pad! From now on I will! None of us that care need it and Mr Dunk, you are quite right when you say that it can be hidden at other levels eg "A Trainer". I have become an active participant since this subject made headlines in the media just before Xmas, albeit, nearly on Xmas eve, then into the holiday season, then on a late Friday evening, regarding his guilt and light Penalty, Says to me, hiding, hiding and more hiding? Let's not keep turning "Shit into Crap" or allowing shit being turned into crap! Further, and now completely off topic, (did I read with serious interest on Race Cafe) I would have and should have joined and commented on the Hastings Track back in Mid September. Last Saturday at Te Rapa, just the same. Alas I didn't and haven't because so many others have. We voted with our feet and sent our fella to Oz for the spring after the Hastings Circus, then late scratched last weekend at Te Rapa. The reason I didn't (re TeRapa) I cant add or subtract anything more or less than you folks have already said. Good on you all, I totally agree with your sentiments.
  10. I don't quite understand the link between Cobalt and Quirke / Quirke and Cobalt? Unless the link is simply, Shit and further negative publicity in the NZ Throughbred Industry thrives at any and all levels? Time to make a bloody Stand? Short of the Bullshit where matters of a negative industrial matter are concerned and concern us all regarding greater public perception rightly or wrongly, any action(s) where nefarious intent is modus operandi must be swiftly exorcised from the industry we love. In the case of Quirke, 10 Months on the side-line is a poor start? Future Employment? Not up to this forum, rather his employer. I note and appreciate comments made by Mrs Rumpole and Midget. Fact is, the Cheif Handicapper, yes folks the Cheif Handicapper of New Zealand Racing can't abide by rules that NZ Racing / NZ Government Legislation so prescribes. It now appears to this writer the Bugger got off lightly? An example made, yet not hidden 2 days before Xmas! He brought our game, the game we love into further disrepute, he thought he was as clever as smoke on a windy day and fundamentally is of a most arrogant character where the rules are in place for anyone but him! Mind you, his qualifications were / are, Registered Qualified Accountant, VIP Punter, NZTBR Consultant to NZ Racing Clubs (prior to) et al. Clearly the rules of racing to this Man, and more importantly his position, just don't quite apply or shouldn't have if he feels like a bet! An utter, utter disgrace where any defence, frankly is indefensible to this writer.
  11. My first post and have just finished an outstanding book on the Waterhouse / Smith Families of Australian Racing. The book documents in detail Mr R Waterhouse being "Warned Off" Australian Racing Facilities for some 17 odd years? I note from "Posts" starting last Friday evening that Mr D P Quirke (Chief Handicapper at NZTR) has now been "Warned Off" NZ Racing Facilities. When / Who was the last person in NZ to be "Warned Off" prior to him?
