You want to try cycling to work, all that traffic, going through narrow gaps, thats not for the faint hearted either, and that's just getting  there, not to mention work place hazards as well.

Graeme Rogerson was very complimentary about the track after his horse won

This is what racing is all about, the story had it all, everyone is in with a show, no matter what your budget is, you can't put a price on that winning  feeling no matter how big or small it maybe.Thank for sharing the story, really  enjoyed it.

Miles Better raced 82 times for 14 wins 12 seconds and 8 thirds. His last race was as a 12yo on the 18/2/86 in the Dunedin Gold Cup at Wingatui. Fittingly he ran 12th in the 16 horse field!

From memory, I think miles better was by bellborough, he was a handy horse in his day.

Shad Miles Better won the 1982 Invercargill Gold Cup. He was by Bellborough who sired three other winners of that race.
    Meldie 1973
    Lynda Mary 1976
    San Ardo 1978
Bellborough also sired Watallan who won the 1973 NZ Cup as a 10yo. He also sired Court Belle 14 wins, Red Sash 13 wins, Bellition, Bellaware, Markable all 11 wins each.

Oh for heaven's sake stop being so petty. I peruse half a dozen similar global sites most days and post periodically on those. As far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier, and like cafe,  seems to be a potentially good site with some interesting discussions and contributors (and a bit of rubbish). I tend to ignore the abusive comments on any of those sites unless of course they are directed at P4P who deserves them.

Totally agree, we need to know what weight the horse is carrying to the barrier, been caught out a couple of times on this issue, needs to be more clarity for the punter.

Thanks Rich and Col.Yea never nice having to sweat an enquiry, moreso when you have a share in one thats under protest. He's really improved in leaps and bounds, and he definitely can handle the wet tracks.Interesting to hear Paul say that he thinks in another year it will be the making of him...and he may even take in a Cups Race in November.Plenty of lows in this game, but it is good to enjoy the highs when they come along.

You know the odds, pay your money and take your chances, nothing a given in this game. I see a maiden winner in the south won its first race after 17 starts, a 300k purchase as a yearling in the north.

Baker Foresman be my pick, although wouldn't be a smaller stable, the art of training a stayer seems lost these days.

Another nice mare who was with an owner/breeder who had a lot of fun breeding and racing all her progeny herself.
Sophie Ro (High Ice x Kinkajou) 4 win mare, 5 foals/4 winners
Lautenschlager (Forensic Evidence) - 13 wins Listed winner
Schockemohle (Senor Pete)  - 6 wins Group placed
Bechtolsheimer (Remind) - 7 wins Cup winner
Schmeckenbecher (Senor Pete) - 5 wins

Not "ouch" at all Scotchy. That's the risk breeders take be they horses, cattle or anything that goes to auction. If a breeder pays $7K to get his mare in foal he doesn't neccessarily have the right to expect someone to pay $20 or $30K for the offspring a year later. That's what the market says they're worth on the day. And as an Aussie cattle breeder told me years ago "it's always better to be sorry you sold than sorry you didn't sell."
