  1. Ya got to stick with them one you start backing them, nothing more annoying than dropping them and they win.
  2. I guess after the race will tell wether its an upgrade, as you say nothing wrong with Doyle's riding,, even the best have can have a bad day at the office.
  3. No doubt the ranks are thin, just seem a shame the big guns swoop in to pick the cherries, but I guess nothing a given, as it took mr grylls a days riding to conquer the coast,
  4. I do believe you are correct, money was up for grabs, hasn't technology come along way from the good ole days, reefton must claim abit of fame, for the race many years back probably the late 90s at a guess, the surprise trooper race, who could forget Reons classic call of that race, would love to hear it again, also the not so nice incident at the gallops where the rider forgot to steer the horse around the corner, taking two others with it gold dust was the horse, went over the rail on to a patron's car and headed out of town, was eventually caught at blacks point, from memory, trained by the late Paul Harris I think, and may have ended up with Mr collis in reefton, do stand to be corrected though
  5. Thanks for the personal attacks, just goes to show the type of person you are
  6. On the other side of the coin, must be tough for the regular riders that do all the trackwork and hard yards, to be pushed aside for the big carnival riders, I'm a little surprised how many are coming over, given the race for big stakes in Australia regularly.i guess all with be unfamiliar with the new course, if that's ready for the big day.
  7. Great bit of history, certainly be tough to win any 2000m race off a handicap, was this any where near the era of the worlds first triple dead heat up at Westport.
  8. Oh glad that's cleared up, guess I was not the only one a little confused , seems like it only spoiled one person's day.
  9. True, but opportunities with top stables don't come along very often, but then one has to be happy in ones self, and nz great place to live, albeit getting very unaffordable, concil rates and insurance going through the roof, cost of living.
  10. Very competitive riders in Australia, be very hard to make the top echelon of the ranks.
  11. Looks like there was a passing lane available.
  12. Yes must be many a year, the Patterson team had to wait till the last race get a win, just as hard to win on the coast as anywhere else.
  13. Think the horse had two broken legs, and rider badly injured
  14. Regardless, most of the general public wouldn't even have a clue something that this even happened, unless they read the stipes report, and most don't, did it spoil your day.
  15. Filled the quota yesterday the right day to do it, no much joy today,
  16. Which one are you referring to as the clown
  17. The horses preformed very well to
  18. Rules are rules and he should know better, even if it's a draconian rule, maybe time for a change, get some youth on board, like they did at Westport meeting,
  19. Hows Mr pinn been doing over there
  20. Yes he was from that stable, shame we never seen him again
  21. Yep road toll zero, tb free, carbon zero, how long has this been said, living in dreamland I rekon
  22. What ever happened to him, did he breakdown
  23. New age man won arace at greymouth on the all weather, unbeaten I nz and won 1st start oversees, then never race after
  24. Yes very strong win today again, I guess we shouldn't be surprised given his trainer is the master with square gaiters, homebush a great bit of stuff, just keeps giving on the grass, I had a few bets today, roughies followed them both days at Westport, superfast gorsey stopping with 700m to go, mapua miss broke badly, archie never fired a shot, only collect was off beeps which accidently I backed instead of hope for love, always Nelson to back up on them, did you have a bet.
  25. Yes there certainly been some great performers over the years, some of the other Nairn trotters, started careers on the coast, even the mighty armalight and our mana won there first races at Westport, just trying to recall if new age man won over there, I know the tough nut certainly did
