uddes reacted to GOM in An admission
I take on board the comments we sometimes read about all the negative shit that appears on the greyhound related media sites and try to concentrate on the positive, which is why I don't have anything to post recently.
However so called negative comment is needed, it is how we point out deficiencies and unfairness within the system. It often is the first step to positive change. The secret appears to be to keeping within the bounds of decency or at least reason.
Is the recent flip flop from our indecisive board an admission that the time has come for the Association to admit that we have devalued our sport to the point it is now import dependent?
The lack of consultation before the import fee was raised then just as quickly reversed does not give anyone confidence that the board actually know what they are doing we were told we would be advised of the reasons for this flip flop shortly. Surely the treaty doesn't have to be rewritten before they make this statement. This appears to be kids stuff.
Most analysts agree that high staff turnover with an organization is a sign of bad management, I am not sure what they call it when it is top to bottom turnover, maybe high class mismanagement

My Two Cents worth I totaly agree with your statement on the Northern racing 100%

uddes reacted to My Two Cents in New Season
What I hope for is that dog racing in the North survives this season...with very few newcomers around and others taking on tier 2 clapped out cast off's I feel its in dire straights...tip to all newcomers (and maybe some not so).... Another trainer will not give you a dog worth it's weight in dog poo if they thought it was capable of earning money, think about it.... Why would they? Yes there is the odd exception ie: not quite good enough for quality Sth island low grade middle distance racing but there's no excuse for low grade or near retirement age sprinters from the CD! Taking these dogs will not only mentally demoralise you and send you broke but also put you off the game in a big hurry. If a young comer has no other option for racing stock I suggest you sign an agreement with these "people" that they take their dogs away from your kennels if they get injured or upon retirement, especially so if the dog has not paid its way whilst in your care.

uddes reacted to lad27 in An Open Letter To Mauro, Sean and the Board.
Dear Mauro, Sean and the Board I sit here today typing this on a Sunday been my day off which is always a family day but I'm in such a annoyed mood I need to put this together so I can carry on the day in a much more pleasant way. First off the greyhound board playing burry your heads in the sand and say nothing to media is nothing new to me as have been in the code for coming up 12yrs. However your inability as a C.E.O. and the current board shows a complete lack of the feeling out there for the grassroots people up and down the country. Now greyhound racing in N.Z. usually follows Australia's lead with most matters and occasionally they try something of ours but you dropped the ball on this one. Weather Cole is guilty or not will sort itself in the future however how the board have handled it is piss poor. The thing that really grinds my gears and I'm sure plenty of people in the greyhound code is the way that live baiting in Australia was dealt with, disqualification and dogs deregistered with anyone been on site of that particular raid were gone burgers, fair or not. It showed some effort from the leaders of the code at the time to basically save face with the public and were prepared to take that issues on later down the track. Now the Greens have publically stated they don't want the greyhound code anymore, no real news there but if the next election is tight and push comes to shove regarding deals then where do you think we all will be ????? Don't take the example of greyhound racing N.S.W. as they all looked like a bunch of dicks for doing what the entire leadership structure of G.R.N.Z. is doing currently - NOTHING!. Grant and Baird went bye bye and the only reason for that wasn't great leadership from the people that are in charge of the sport it was because the grassroots participant got up in arms, there shit sorted, and the right people in their circles and saved the code in N.S.W. Hell even Rodeo N.Z. have a media spokes person and their are hammered every year by the anti's. I want all of you today to grab a cuppa, head outside by yourself and have a dam good think about what is happening to this beautiful sport. Because if nothing is done fast you all will be grabbing a cuppa, sitting outside and thinking to yourselves I should have done more ..... One upset grassroots L.P. from Timaru Regards Marek Dunne -

uddes reacted to DC9 in Sad news
Some of us have lost a second dear friend in the space of a few days.
But that pales in comparison to what the family will be dealing with. Thoughts are with them x.
Henny fought her illness so bravely for so long. How little she had left in the tank, physically, is now apparent.
Going to miss you guys.

uddes reacted to My Two Cents in Sad news
Wow this is very sad news indeed, I was aware Henny was unwell but not Leo. They clearly understood the in’s and out’s of breeding, rearing and racing greyhounds and presented some quality kiwi breds to the track and should be very proud of what they achieved as “smaller” trainers. It was humbling to see the love they had for each and every one of their dogs.
RIP Leo and Henny.

It is awesome to see you get success as good blokes ( and lovely ladies as cant forget Denise who does all the work ) deserve all the success with the hard work put in. It makes the early morning wake ups and pooper scoopers worth it.

uddes reacted to GOM in Dead baiting NSW
What we have actually is a lot of trainers being sensible and waiting for the outcome, just because they choose not to join the lynch mob does not mean they do not care about the outcome.

uddes reacted to rouseabout in More Group success for Ray Adcock
Thank you Mike but as I said in my speech I was only the Caretaker Trainer.
However I considered it an honour to be entrusted with such a good dog.
I trust you and Linda are in good health.
Cheers Ray Adcock

Had the same feeling about the meeting. Very mediocre. And the 603m boxes are still unusable.

I can see a slinging match developing. Like to think there's something coming thru in the next couple of months, going by the number of quallys . Even if they're not world beaters. Keep it positive please.
