Cheers FF, I appreciate your thoughts but I'm not into entry fees and prize pools (for those who pay an entry fee).  That just creates an extra layer of scrutiny I guess and while I try to be as transparent and clear up front with rules, etc, I would prefer to avoid any controversy where entrants have put their own money on the line.
I believe most of our entrants don't play for the prize money - more for the enjoyment and bragging rights.
Prizes from Leigh and the odd donation are fine, and we don't have too many issues.   
Easier to tell someone with a beef (with rules or scoring) that we'll refund their entry fee, when they haven't paid an entry fee  
 

Lovely ideas, Stodge, but the jumps game is kaput here.  One year, two, but its finished.  Doesn't fit the agenda of the management - much as the idea of seeing numbers of UK/Irish horses would be hugely exciting for some - but not enough to change some very fixed opinions.

Spelt and spelled are two different spellings of the past tense of the verb “spell.” The spelling tends to vary based on the version of English you're using: In US English, “spelled” is standard. In UK English, both “spelled” and “spelt” are acceptable.
It's a shame Imperatriz was retired and not just spelt

Yes, not a good look. Only 55 starters at Cambridge and no interest at all at Awapuni. They will have to follow the SI example and just give trainers no option but to race on the AWT.
It does show a total pig-headed arrogance on the part of NZTR. Does the trainers assoc ever suggest to NZTR that their members are slightly displeased? Obviously NZTR won't come to that realisation without someone pointing it out to them.

Riccarton completed their programme yesterday

I did think it was a strange thing to promote to the extent they did. I even heard it advertised on the radio during the week. I don't imagine the average joe public would have the faintest idea what the Quokka was and wouldn't care less. It would be interesting to compare the turnover on that race with any of the races from Riccarton.

Mark Cookson minutes out "well the excitement is now at fever pitch" for who sorry? The self indulgent bullshit forcing us to care about Waitak somehow managed to beat the I Wish I Win bullocks, its like they're making a school production to present to each other at lunch time.
