One week, yep, one week and no videos. The most alarming fact to all this is where are the owners and trainers? I've seen nothing in social media about it. Do the trainers not care? Most owners like to see their horse trial, many wouldn't have made it to Foxton, so where's their anger?........if there was tech issue why is there not an explanation......they behave like this because they can, no one holds them to account......what an absolute disgrace, just another splinter in the bum to contend with, what fools we are.

As you know I like the hype horses, sometimes they go on and become very good horses and sometimes they don't but remain good horses all of us would love to be in. I think this horse will really go up to another level due to this trip away and being put under pressure. I am not sure he will win today. I do think his next preparation will be top shelf. Just my view, short term we will know later today and longer term similarly. It would be great if I were wrong today.

Paddy, as you know anyone can late nominate into a race as they're left open for all to see on the NZTR site if the numbers are below the required threshold of 12, or is it 15?
Those originally nominated cannot be displaced by a late nom though, that's the rule, and if they beat you, as you suggest, well that's racing and one day the boot will be on the other foot.
The only problem with knowing who's nom'd and who hasn't occurs when various persons masquerading as jockey's agents get access in advance and cherry pick the rides, but trainers are not allowed to know what's nominated, just the number entered for the race and if it's likely to proceed or alternatively be split.
As for Valley Girl, I'm sure she was in the nom's for the 3yo fillies race the same day, they just subbed her out of one and into the other, and Gibbsy's comments about the Avondale Guineas being too close to the Derby apply to the two week interval compared to the three weeks but not to her late entry into the Herbie Dyke.

I know clubs can monitor nominations and the bureau Admin (before closing I mean). Maybe trainers can do the same or maybe the club or bureau told the Logan/Gibbs team. I don't see it as a problem for trainers to know what else is nominated/withdrawn at any time. I might be a bit grumpy if I was training or owning one of the original four and a late entry beats me in the race but I guess that is the way things are these days.

I wonder whether Leith Innes and Sam Spratt who rode their mounts as if it was a match race had ridden normal races instead of going head to head from the 650m would have brought a different result.
Particularly Stolen Dance as she has a wonderful turn of foot and if left a bit longer instead of sustaining her run from so far out who knows. George Simon mentioned in his call "and Stolen Dance may have peaked on her run."

but he would have been better dawdling along out back and storming home in the straight, I truly doubt whether VG could run a faster last sectional than Kawi.
Yes, also the state of the track, I agree a dogs breakfast, but if I had a bet for my life it would Kawi first or second anytime, with no jockeys up !

You are 100% correct, they lied at 7am and hoped the track would dry. It was so wet that was never happening. Will anyone hang, of course not. A great race day ruined, the chances of a number of very good horses ruined, but no one will be held accountable. The track was severley misrepresented to the punting public, no consequences!!

People don't take much notice of what that guy says so that won't create much hype.
With Murray Baker as the trainer of a horse it's hard to get much hype going.  Great trainer and look at the horses he's had, but not the life and soul of a party sort of guy.  Give a horse like Turn Me Loose to Gai Waterhouse and you'll be getting daily updates on the progress towards him cleaning up The Championships before having a rest and then winning the Cox Plate and then he could then win the Melbourne Cup if he wanted to and Dubai would be his for the taking.

Surely the stipendiary steward that was responsible for the reading of a good 3 at whatever time in the early morning at the very least be the subject of an internal assessment and a suitable press release  made by his employer. The cost to nz racing has been huge in terms of turnover on the day and future turnover. Don't forget that we had the starting gates fiasco a few months ago and no action was taking about the stipendiary stewards on duty that day. We cannot carry on like this or the end will not be 10 years away but 5 at the most.
Great to have a strong and positive response from Mr Rutherford today but again lets not forget that at noon last Tuesday he only had 4 noms for his clubs top race of the year. Lucky the benchmark 70 horse won the race (a Group 1!!!!) and perhaps gave the race some credibility although the rating of the winner was only a poor 92 barely listed level but clearly she has plenty of upside. Xtravagant was top shelf at 114 and his meeting with Mahuta over 1600 will be interesting probably allow a horse like Tarzino to come over the top of both of them.

Guys - the problem is not who is walking the track. The big problem I see is the missreporting of track conditions to trainers, owners and punters at 7am raceday.

This is rediculous. You cannot tell me that Quirke didn't know that he shouldn't have been betting. You also can't tell me that Quirke should have a handicappers role in the future. 
Be suspended be damed. $50k per month betting is abnormal and the sign of a professional punter.
its very easy to bet using other people's accounts. Quirke doesn't have the profile of an independent handicapper. You can't take him back because his motivation will always be able to be questioned.
therefore he can never be a handicapper again. Our industry needs to be squeaky clean....a very simple notion

Contrast his record with say Opie Bosson.  Yes he has more wins, but strike-rate, premierships, group wins, .........  I'm not sure that Opie won't get in there before him (and James MacD and ......)
