  1. What a great initiative........after 12 months it may have proved so successful a number of those small clubs may not get their dates back again. When you are sitting on a pair of two's, don't bluff and play them like 4 aces if you don't like another outcome.
  2. Back then NZ had bucket loads of great stayers who would fill up the Cup races, the races were a delight to watch and the winners could cross the Tasman, as many did, and perform with distinction, including that Cup on the first Tuesday in November. Handicaps or SWP makes no difference now, we simply don't have those buckets full or even half full any more and I am sure we can understand why they are now SWP races.
  3. I love shopping at New World. As I understand it, each NW is independently owned, so the money comes out of each owner's pocket. Well done to those branches that do sponsor races, I see the New World race day as part of the Wellington Racing carnival, well done to all those branches that do support the day. New World has my business for sure.
  4. And the Wellington Cup field. Not one of NZ's 3,200m races deserve Group status. The winners of each would be lucky to make the Group 1 3,200m Cup in Australia in November, if they did, they would finish in the second half of the field.
  5. As the saying goes, the harder you work the luckier you get. They are two very hard working people, great to see they are getting the results they deserve.
  6. You are right, no one does the analysis as the year flows to fix anomolies. What a waste of resources, $30k thrown away on a race with 5 runners. Talk to any successful businessman about this type of example and they would confirm the thoroughbred industry is definitely not run like a business. Trainers don't help themselves unfortunately. Two trainers will take 20 horses each to Gisborne because they are chasing a $10k trainers bonus. Were they thinking about their owners or themselves. Obvious answer. Then they scream out for more stakes, so $30k gets put up and 5 horses turn up.
  7. Very well said. If it had been a trainer without two dollars to rub together, this would have been done and dusted, broke trainer serving his disqualification. Unfortunately dealing with people who have all the top lawyers on speed dial, makes one cautious. Have the staff been asked if Sound Proposition was paddock housed 24 hours before the derby? Reading the information out of Australia regarding their cases, for horses to have levels such as those, the cobalt must have entered the system within the last 24 hours before the race. Do Wexford run such a relaxed casual system allowing their Derby runners to roam cattle paddocks drinking whatever from where ever, or are they simply lieing. Maybe all the Lance lovers might like to consider he is trying so hard to be like Dad and brother, well have some of their success by whatever means it takes.
  8. So the two parties don't talk? Trainer tip - if you want to know, call a jockey agent.
  9. Surely in amongst all those Government MPs there must be one who goes to the TAB or logs into the TAB site from a laptop or mobile on a regular weekly basis. That should be our Minister for Racing, don't care if a lowly back bencher. At least he/she would know racing, know what we are talking about and have a passion for the industry. If there isn't one in Government, then the industry needs to find the right person and get them elected. Shitty Minsters for Racing, Government yes men who say to our faces they are interested and care, then return to the Beehive and do nothing. Another case of speech making no action.
  10. I have never understood why so many people bag Butch. His knowledge of racing stands up against the best. Maybe now he is away from Ellerslie (that place so many of you dislike). you can look at him in a better light without your Ellerslie dark glasses.
  11. I actually don't know who she is and after listening to her speak at the AGM, I have absolutely no interest in finding out. She spoke like it was her first ever public speach and to laughenly joke about just having opened a TAB account, we have to hope overseas organisations didn't tune in. Now John Allen there is a man who knows public speaking, but it's an action man we want, not a talker. The man he replaced knew how to put on a presentation, but wasn't action either. Any way back to Glenda, don't ever speak at the AGM again.
  12. Don't forget the Melbourne Cup scratching of Kiwi, Jimmy's book out later this year will cover that travisty. The He's Remarkable decision was fraud at best. Decisions like that need to go to a panel in say the UK where country of residence doesn't come in to it. He's Remarkable would be a Group 1 winner and may have stood for more money. Speaking of Saturday's decision, I don't care where interference happens, if it costs then overturn. However if there is no choice, because they slam the brakes on (which I would outlaw for safety reasons by the way), then no protest. If stewards think that in a split second going 40 kms an hour on 530 kgs of animal when you have to take evasion action, going in not out is logical (yeah right), then I would suggest we put stewards on a horse and see how good they are. Another bad decision Saturday.
  13. My view, even though a man made shit track, both jockeys thought it was a two horse race and screwed their respective mounts. If each horse had been ridden to how they would have been if the other was missing, both would have beaten Valley Girl. If Cameron gets charged for Mime, both those jockeys should also be charged.
  14. Hello...................if jockey's agents know who is nominated, then trainers know!!
  15. As you know I like the hype horses, sometimes they go on and become very good horses and sometimes they don't but remain good horses all of us would love to be in. I think this horse will really go up to another level due to this trip away and being put under pressure. I am not sure he will win today. I do think his next preparation will be top shelf. Just my view, short term we will know later today and longer term similarly. It would be great if I were wrong today.
  16. I find the camera work horrible. The worst is when the replay zeros in on the neck of the winner, without allowing us to see who maybe running on, you know valuable information, but the neck is exciting......supposedly!!
  17. Clear out the cobalt cabinet.......ahem the multi vitamin cabinet.
  18. So Kawi wasn't bagged (gone quiet now), Xtravagant wasn't bagged (gone quiet now), they would bag Pamela Anderson every time she breathed out cause one of her tits was smaller!! Spare me, if you don't like hype back something else.
  19. Tells you it wasn't even a D4 at 7.30am, those lieing bastards.
  20. You are 100% correct, they lied at 7am and hoped the track would dry. It was so wet that was never happening. Will anyone hang, of course not. A great race day ruined, the chances of a number of very good horses ruined, but no one will be held accountable. The track was severley misrepresented to the punting public, no consequences!!
  21. The large professional punters know more about handicaps and horse ratings than anyone, certainly the successful ones. I agree his pattern of gambling doesn't match the successful ones.
  22. They put jockeys out for not giving "A Horse" a chance of winning, I wonder how long they will give Karen, Ken & the track manager for giving a whole bunch of horses a chance of winning. First Trentham water and ruin Sacred Star's chances now Te Rapa, the incompetent roll on unpenalised.
  23. Ah did I miss the outcome and charges from the NZ Derby Sound Proposition positive test result? It was so long ago, I would have expected this would have already been dealt with, so obviously I missed it. No doubt you will be able to tell me.
  24. You can use cobalt in NZ, NZTR tell you your horse has it, but nothing happens. NZTR, just like the TAB, slow, fat and lazy!!
  25. The young talented trainers are showing up the middle aged and older trainers as well as the TAB with their uptake of technology, the obvious step to bring in the Generation X to the industry and funnily enough those of us older than Generation X appreciate the service as well.
