  1. Yes waiting to see if your horse got in is painful enough especially when there are over 30 nominations for one race, but then finding they have split a different race and your horse once again misses out is criminal. When other courses are having poor nominations wouldn't you think they would run a popular meeting with maximum numbers of races to clear the backlog. Makes it difficult for owners to keep the faith month after month and difficult for trainers to convince the owners to stick with it.

  2. What I question is the grading of tracks. How often is a quoted track grade changed after the first or second race. I fail to see (if the track was indeed unevenly presented) that it could come up a 5. Surely someone would be aware of the unevenness. Are there tests done on more than one site? There are considerable costs for trainers when poor facts are given and apart from it being a disappointment for punters it becomes an unfair cost to the trainer and owner when such a poor assessment is presented. Maybe the 5 in this case was purely a guestimate.

I got an email announcing the return of the John Allen Road Show in March.  Firstly, fair play to him for keeping his word and doing them again.

Below is a couple of tips for him this time round:

Last time he spent the first 30 mins telling us how special the nz racing people were, how many group 1s are won in Australia compared to runners, the passion of the people in the industry, the skilled horse people etc etc.....TIP 1 WE KNOW ALL THIS AND IF HE HAD HISTORY IN THE GAME HE WOULD KNOW IT TOO.  THIS WHY PEOPLE ARE SO UPSET ABOUT THEIR GREAT INDUSTRY DISSAPPEARING!!!  SO PLEASE DON'T WASTE 30 of the 60 MINS TALKING ABOUT THIS AGAIN.

Figures were quoted about increased income from field legislations, new betting platforms etc $60M (or something like that figure, makes no difference as pure pie in the sky).  TIP 2 PRESENT SOME FINANCIAL BACKING OF THESE FIGURES.  HOW MANY CUSTOMERS WE HAVE, HOW MUCH THEY SPEND NOW.  HOW DO WE KNOW HOW MANY MORE CUSTOMERS OR SPEND WE WILL HAVE.  IF TELLING A STORY AT LEAST MAKE IT BELIEVABLE.

Give figures for how many owner/trainers are earning far less than the minimum wage and doing 70 hours plus

Once again the owners get slugged ?

Or does the Wanganui club reimburse the owners the Float fees & costs for the

    cancellation of the races.

    Hopefully they do..

But if those in charge had waited one hour before they made their

decision to cancel the Meeting.. racing could have continued as it turned out a beautiful afternoon.

Would not have mattered anyway because the Prims Donna boys were all on there merry way home.

Apparently the Wanganui Cup will be run next June.

Doesn't help  Mr..Lee Somervell who sponsored the race & hoped to win it with Celebrity Miss

She is in foal to Shocking & wont be able to compete in June.

I hope they reimburse Mr. Somervell & find another sponser

My mind Boggles at times??  Do these Jocks have no Nuts??

I remember  ( OK 'I'm old) when they broke out bales of straw in the Wellington birdcage so the horses didn't slip.

    & we still raced..

Now???       One Watery Fart & there in  the Car & gone.

    Tell me if I'm wrong.

What beats me is that if you came from down the road you were reimbursed $200.00 per horse, but if we were to take one horse from  the Waikato and it cost $150.00 for road miles $300.00 aprox for diesel a motel $90.00 (so horse didn't have to race after 5 hours travel) staff wages to work while we were away, 2 days loss of earnings  and the cost of food for 2 days. In fact had we won we would probably still be out of pocket

  5. Is Robert Holdway for real?  Problem gambling continues because  odd gamblers cannot control themselves. Should we close drinking establishments because some people drink too much? Should we close dairies because some people buy legal highs from them?  I get sick of do gooders controlling the masses because of a minority that need to look at their problem and go sort themselves out!  With racing in a precarious state any club making an attempt to improve the situation should be applauded not thrown  pathetic reasons to stop it before it gets any momentum.  At least this club has attempted to get people thinking and who knows what this suggestion gives those reading other ideas that may be even better. I say GOOD ON YA FOR PUTTING IT OUT THERE AWAPUNI.

  6. Thanks Tim for explaining what happened. How easy it is to think you know what went on when in fact you don't. I will be the first to admit I had made the wrong assessment initially but once explained it throws a different light on the issue and I appreciate you clearing the details up. Cheers and good luck with her.

  7. He is in fact being stopped from earning a living in his chosen field and in many industries this is not allowed. If this is the worst they can find to challenge it makes for very poor judgement especially when the industry is in such disarray. The energy that was put into this investigation would have been better served explaining how other enquiry decisions were made. Just adds fuel to an already burning lack of confidence.

  8. It is obvious that there are still too many questions remaining unanswered, as well as question marks over how this has been handled. This is no longer an issue regarding Wexford, but whether or not the whole saga has been handled correctly. There is an obvious lack of confidence regarding decision making and in the way things are being run. This is only one of those concerns but it will continue to be focused on until these questions have been answered. For the life of me I can't see why if there is nothing to hide, the whole investigation isn't published addressing the concerns people still have. For these questions still to be a talking point reinforces my view that enough isn't known about the process undertaken.

With all the recent events regarding equine performance enhancing drugs/supplements , it would seem obvious to ask not only how the  " testers " arrived at the " acceptable " levels but also what were the drugs tested on .

Presumably horses were used as the " test pots " rather than the typical caged lab rats in a laboratory in order to ascertain not only the " levels " but also the contraindications .

Where are the tests conducted in the "transparent " world that we live in ??  All seems pretty vague .

Anyone from the Racing Integrity Unit like to shed some light on the subject or is darkness the preferred option ???

Like you I find too many conflicting "Expert" answers. For this to go away it needs the RIU to make some statements that remove the suspicions that all is not out in the open. Don't we all have the right to know how these tests were conducted and why they arrived at the decision etc. to make an informed decision, or are these answers going to give us more to question? Don't Wexford  deserve to be cleared as at present more people suspect foul play than not. Seems ludicrous that it can be concluded with so many questions still unanswered.  Maybe we just have to wait and see what comes out at the hearing.

  10. I am suggesting the horses be disqualified as soon as positives are found. As  it stands in three races there are 5 (at least)  horses that didn't receive their correct stake = 15 owners/trainers/jockeys  or more etc. Also these horses are  racing under possibly incorrect ratings = unfair for all the horses racing against them. And this has been the case for 12 months. How can anyone in their right mind not vote for a  horses instant disqualification if found to have an unfair advantage.  But lets not worry about all these others getting what is rightfully theirs, it might get in the way of protecting the ones that caused this situation in the first place.

Case is pending, read about it.

Note the expert witness for the prosecution in the Moody case originally said Mood's explanation was statistically likely to have been about a 1 in 10 million chance, but when he got the NZ evidence he did a complete somersault and said Moody's version had an 80% chance of being correct and accurate.

Good to see you're reverting to the same old habits though, and being wrong.

How's the blanket on the ground ? You still camping out with the boys under that blanket ?

So how confident can we be that this so called expert can be relied upon? What a bloody shambles!

Is this Sir Dennis Ryan's Informants "Head line " this  Friday ?

    Dennis  I hope so.!!

The Informants pricelss contribution to racing, hopefully will feature the disqualification of Sound Proposition and the other two Wexford Horses.

WHY ? Natural justice says if the swab was positive, disqualify the place getter.

    No ifs/

    No buts.

If a motorist gets tested positive to drugs/ alcohol at a check point, the ramifications/ penalties are written and enforced.

    Car impounded: Licence revoked.Disqualified.

If however, a smart lawyer proves the :Testing method or procedures were incorrect or prejudicial, then the appeal process commences.

The driver can apply for a review etc. ( work Licence).

So how can our pathetic Mike The ex Grocer , get away with this incompetent, procedure?

Under our rules of racing the Cobalt maxis  200 . All  the three horses were over !

    Period.

    Disqualify Them .

Then let the rules of natural justice and court cases apply.

Under this scheme, no one is saying Wexford is Guilty of mal practice..But they ( Wexford ) have to prove, beyond reasonable doubt that

    their stable is  innocent.

Wexford, should have said, "we will fight this. We will pay the 4th,5th etc Derby place getters (2015)" and the other two horses who will be disqualified.

Re create your  Mana ,Lance. Because you have lost that Mana with me.

    Revel Somervell

A case of making something easy become a major drama for everyone except the ones that either cheated or made a mistake (we all have our own take on this).  Let them under investigation be the ones that are inconvenienced, not the ones doing everything  by the book and racing within the guidelines, suffer for a year waiting to be paid. There is no way these horses can not be disqualified, so damn well do it, and let those guilty be the ones to wait to be cleared.

Question: Has anyone seen Mr O'Sullivan around the racetracks as I'm told he has been nowhere to be seen, but they could be mistaken of course, and he and his partner finding plenty to celebrate. I'm with you there is no Mana left for me either.
