He deserves a lot more accolades than he receives and it's really good to put him in the spotlight. He has a small team, gets big results, keeps his horses at a consistently high level of performance over an extended time, trains horses that aren't sale toppers or bluebloods in any way, did a good job for Ada and goes about it quietly and with hard work and seems to be getting better by the year. Good on him

Yes,would have to agree with shue and aqua.A sense of deja vu re Parker and David Tua .Parker is limited with his training  team etc , he may improve another  5/10% in time under another team but still don't  think that's  enough to  carry him all the way to the top.Klitschko look's more focused for the fight in his interviews, but Joshua will have to  much  power.
    Cheers

Agree with you shue about Parker, he just isn't improving. I think Wilder and Parker would be a good match. Joshua would eat Parker in my opinion, just as he will Klitschko. I think the odds for Joshua $1.40 are very good. I have climbed in.

    Thanks Swynford, quite interesting insights.
What strikes me with a lot of the good horses by from this line; Whobegotyou, Winx, Zenyatta, Lion Tamer etc is their finishing ability. Whether that's an inhereted trait or not I don't know-is one paced speed/acceleration something you inheret or not it's hard to say but it is seemingly an ability many of the top horses from that line seem to possess-if that makes any sense, probably just coincidental.

That's true breeder, at sale time he has only ever really been lukewarm for that reason but in saying that his progeny have always been respected by the Australian buyers who probably appreciate a decent middle distance/staying sire than most other buyers. It's very true that perception is reality, even in racing. Had Pentire been commercial from the start as in the case of say Darci Brahma for example he may have had a dramatically different record as a sire on account of foal crop numbers, placement, endorsement-these factors weren't exactly in favour of Pentire yet he has a great record at stud and you have to wonder pound-for-pound is he actually better than he is percieved to be.

Potentially Lloyd yes. At this stage he is a slow burn, continually producing good horses but has not had a superstar, yet, not like Zabeel who early on set fire in Australia with Might And Power, Octagonal, Champagne and on and on he went. When you ruminate those names you appreciate how great he was-instantly. I expect Sav to have a star soon, I thought that may be Pasadena Girl but to this point hasn't reached the level I thought she might and Lucia is a good mare but also not a star, you get the feeling a topliner is just around the cornery with him though. Think he and Reset by far the best of his sons with Preferment to come but Lonhro is probably the best continuation of the sireline so far in my opinion.

Agree with you Globe. Joshua looks a beast. Admired Joe's heart in coming back every time Takam clocked him, but it was a pedestrian fight for the most part until the final rounds.  But fighting a younger, faster, stronger man will be much different.
Great interview with Bob Jones on radio today. He was scathing about the whole set up and has already told them this next fight will do absolutely nothing for his credibility...UK boxing people weren't that impressed either apparently.
I doubt Joshua is losing too much sleep over it either....

Personally I think at the moment Joshua would destroy Parker. He needs a lot more ring time againsted top opponents before he is in a position to challenge.
He was not fit enough for 12 rounds ,dropped his hands to much and kept his chin up at times. He has the potential to be the best we have produced, but I question the clowns looking after him. His next opponent will be ,wait for it,40 yr old Soloman Haumono!!!!!!!!.. He will not learn diddly squat from fighting these mugs.
And Dean Lonnergan, for heavens sake get out of the spotlight as frontman for DUCO. You are a complete dimwit,it took Martin Sneddan to gloss over your unprofessional behaviour. And thanks for ripping us off for so long, hopefully everyone will now boycott your fights and all Live Stream them for NOTHING Dean.
There is about 50 different sites one can download free content, sport ,movies etc. It is only a matter of time before SKY is dead in the water, and charging its customers 50 bucks for "the biggest sporting event in NZ this year" when it can be watched in SKY UK for nothing is deplorable .Is it illegal to live stream the fight off a channel where it is free to watch ????.
I shall be embracing livestreaming for the remainder of my life if technology allows and I know it will, so a big STIFF finger to the greedy conglomerates at SKY and DUCO.

I always ask them "How will I recognise Mum & Dad, what age will they be?, in the state they were in just prior to their death or in their 20s?.
How will I find them with all the people and life forms there?
What things are their to do?
Will I remember other things about life on earth?
They just cant answer them, unfortunately its millennium old thinking which was more about setting basic society values which have many times in history been twisted for evil purposes. In the last 50 yrs we have become way more informed they ever in history and any value attached to religion has been exposed as verbal stories way past their use by date.

$50.00 to watch the next Parker fight. Why is it even pay per view? As much as I like Parker, he's a humble guy but seriously Lonergan is a dickhead and a sponge

So what you are saying bazach is leave the breeding to the stallion owners and buy to race as opposed to breed to race, let the stallion owners absorb the risk while the buyer may pay more for a good product but he is more or less in control of what his investment will cost him, at least for the first 18 months. Would that make the breeding landscape stronger or would it leave it open to price fixing and inflated values?

He will see the writing is on the wall. I am sure Kearney would turn the club around, he did a fine job at Paramatta. Seriously though no coach can help them UNLESS he is given 3 years to have a proper clearout and start again. Probably only one or two coaches who have the personality and ability to accomplish that but they would not be given the liberty to go through the place and sort it all out. Until then it will be the same old perpetual disappointment machine we are used to.

IT's happened all to often at the Warriors. McFadden will become just another pawn to spin of the merry go round, with the warriors having the bye, it gives them time to contact a few likely candidates, I have heard Stephen Kearney is a strong possibility.
i'm not sure if Jim Doyle selected Kearney as the kiwi coach? but if he did you would think he would come into strong contention
It's not Mcfaddens  fault but he is likely to be the fall guy, I will be surprised if he see's the season out.
I really think the Warriors need a couple of real enforcers in the forward pack.
Never sighted Johnathan Wright yesterday, I had to check the line-up to see if he was playing, Mannering his time is up I could go on and on, easier to say who I would keep, Lolohea, Fusitua Johnson, Thompson and Lisone, I could easily let the rest go.
The warriors certainly are an ATM machine, to think The Panthers and The Raiders were both outsiders against that Rabble.
Warriors=Mentally Weak............have been for a long long long time..................Bronco's next up for the Warriors

Agree with all of that, people.  Well said.  As for sub-editing - there's less & less of that now.  Just read any mainstream newsfeed on the web - I've never seen more errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar & vocabulary as I have in the last couple of years.
Given the lack of emphasis educationally on such things I guess us oldies better just get used to it or we'll turn into grumpy old curmudgeons.
Then there's the general quality of journalism.  How many times do you read an article and learn nothing of significance because what passes for news or investigative journalism these days is often just dross  eg.an article about someone who has been killed in dramatic circumstances - often the dear departed was a "colourful character" (ie. recidivist criminal) who was "turning his life around" (ie. had enrolled on a course so he could access a student loan & hadn't appeared in court for the last month or so) - half the article is quotes of half-literate txt-speak tributes from a facebook page and it ends with a givealittle page to support the kids (kids the dead person never supported when he was alive anyhow).
I guess it is the modern-day equivalent of journos "interviewing their typewriters".
Excuse my cynicism.  Going outside now to take in some sun - my next post will be way more positive & cheerful.  And I promise you no-one will be launching a givealittle page to fund the counselling of which I am so clearly in need  ...
