  1. Best horse won. My boy - BD Joe - had a gun drive and thought he might runaway from the leader when he got alongside. Didn't get the journey. Well done.
  2. Why would the Racing Minister comment? Starship is not run by the government.
  3. If I was to take a trifecta I'd include Rock N Roll Doo and Self Assured. I'd be surprised if the leader (whomever that may be) will be allowed to stack them up for a sprint home. Could be a race with 3 or 4 leaders. Hope so.
  4. Of course I would have preferred a front row draw for Joe but he has gotten better with his starting manners and his last start Ashburton dominance of a field that included most he faces next week is historically a fantastic cup guide. Copy That in the first of his brace of recent wins got up to beat a 32 race starter with 4 wins and $58k in the bank. I realize that all a horse can do is win but the quality of your competition needs to be taken account of. On that basis I think he is unders, but don't let my opinion sway your thinking. No, I certainly haven't got the wobbles. I've filled up the kids piggy banks with washers and invested their cash on Joe. They'll thank me for it next Tuesday afternoon. Happy punting.
  5. Can't believe the TAB have reacted so dramatically to BD Joes cup draw. His task won't be easy but it's a two mile race and he's the form horse. Copy That, the new favorite, is going good albeit he didn't beat much winning his last couple. I'm just going to keep putting it on Joe and you fellow contributors to this thread need to stop searching for reasons for something else to wear the NZ Cup crown. But hey, happy hunting.
  6. 1-4-6-8-12-18-19-23 Thanks & good luck to all.
  7. BD Joe acted like he was a bit fresh before todays flying stakes but was still too good for the others. I don't understand why you're not waxing lyrical about his performance, albeit everyone to their own. I wouldn't trade my NZ Cup futures bet for anything else. Yes, there were some good runs behind him but they all had their chance to take him on and after 2400 metres he proved himself too smart. Bring on the cup.
  8. I don't wish poor health on anyone and hope that people who are suffering are well looked after and able to source the health care they need.
  9. You'd have to wonder why the trainer said that she was seriously considering backing her up this Saturday at Hastings. Of course she (La Crique) may not have come through Saturdays race as bright as what was hoped and put the quick back-up out of the equation. Still, the bookies reacted big-time and brought her into $2. Only a brave punter would've jumped into those odds. Anyway, she will be a worthy addition to the Kiwi contingent currently campaigning across the Tasman.
  10. There must be very compelling reasons for this to happen. Perhaps you will find out and report back rather than bad mouthing our current government, who may I add, know a bit about keeping its citizens healthy and safe if their response to the pandemic is anything to go by. Besides, I couldn't imagine health professionals queuing up for a job at Kew.
  11. Yes, very good run from Self Assured. He's on the way up and he'll be peaking at the right time. Going to be a smashing NZ Cup field with a number of live chances. I'm speaking through my pocket though when declaring my support for the Telfer duo having 50 on BD Joe @ 61's to win the cup. I've also had a $50 future bet on La Crique to win the Livamol @ 8's onto BD Joe to run top 3 @ 9's. Should find out later today or tomorrow if the trainers take her to Hastings or Sydney/Melbourne. I certainly need decisions and luck to go my way.
  12. I don't believe Rock 'n Roll Doo has ever raced from the stand. The Telfer duo will do me.
  13. The trainer is now keen to back-up in the Livamol. TAB have reacted and brought her into $2. Katrina A has constantly given the impression that the horse would go to Australia after the Arrowfield but that was when that race was to be run at Hastings. She said that they are a 40 minute float ride from the Matamata course so she'll be in her paddock before they run the last. Great.
  14. I know that when we bet it is called a gamble for good reason. However when the goal posts get moved to the extent that they have due to the Arrowfield and Livamol now being a week apart I believe the TAB should allow "futures" punters to cash out any bets they have taken on the Livamol, subject to that horse being nominated, as some horses will simply not back-up in Group races a week apart.
  15. A good friend bought into BD Joe when he was first syndicated. I think he owns half the tail, but what a great ride his ownership has been.. We thought Self Assured may have been vulnerable on Friday and if BD made a clean beginning - his last couple have been off the unruly - he would be a live chance of causing a upset. We gleefully took the $5.50 the TAB offered and he delivered without too many moments of concern. We also took the 61/1 odds the TAB offered on him back in August for the Cup and he's now into 9's, which strangely feels like a win, even though the race is a month away. Of course anything can happen between now and the Cup and he's certainly no good thing should he score up behind the tapes on cup day. But if he does and luck goes his way the champs will know he's there.
