Surgery to stabilize her spine went very well so the surgeon said. He has protected the spinal cord form any more damage. Bit early for a result, but we are hoping for some more improvements in her movement  

Not a dig, but I always remember Rogie talking up Baldovino after winning the Rating 80 or 85 mile on the first day of the Hastings carnival a few years ago, 3 from 3. He said something along the lines of "Best ive ever had, will win the group 1 in two weeks". Came out and ran last and the horse seemed to loose its way a little bit after that Group 1 start, cant remember it starting in open company again. Hope he just takes his time and works his way through the grades with this bloke, seems to have some of mums talent.

As I have always said, I love going to Ellerslie to race, but I can see in 5 years time, oh, we have to close down for the winter, off you go to Ruakaka, more cost to the owners!
Fine having money in the bank, get a surface you can race on regularly, get the punters into a pattern, and you might just get a few back that NZ racing has chased away over the years!

There may have been social media reports from the stud regarding staff being sacked = but at the end of the day the stud master and owner of the stud is responsible for the condition and care of ALL horses on the property - NZTR and the SPCA have gone to great lengths to investigate this and its NOT the first time.  Rob Lewis has had horses uplifted by the SPCA previously - those picturs of horses heads over a barb wire fence - does that look like a reputable stud operation to you?  No !  It doesn't - Regal Fern Lodge needs to step up and acknowledge they have fucked up and that skinny horses DID exist - blaming staff is a cop out - if that was a trainer in the same situation they would be de-registered and fined!   But nope - breeders are not licensed people......................

What happened to your forum doctrine of eschewing personal attacks?

I guess it proves that if you deliver a superior product, with huge amounts of information available to the punter, and minimise environmental factors by providing decent tracks, then there's still a huge international appetite for the racing product.
All of the above seem to escape those who purport to run NZ racing though.

I would like to take this opportunity to clarify a couple of those issues raised about Wrote as best I can.
Coolmore trade a large number of horses particularly if the money is good enough. The horse that beat him in Dubai, Daddy Long Legs (Scat Daddy) was sold to HK after winning the Dubai Derby and he was also a 2yo that beat Wrote at Royal Ascot in a G2. Sweet Orange, a horse we stood was another sold by Coolmore to HK as a stakes winning 2yo. I know he was an expensive purchase amongst a package of horses sold to the current owner(s) as a racehorse, rather than a stallion but he had clearly trained off. hardly shipped on.
You can watch his run in the Dubai Derby where Helmet led them up for a fair way and it was a pretty solid effort. He sat 3 wide facing the breeze and wasn't beaten much by the winner and nothing in it for second. I know I wouldn't have been happy with the ride. I do agree he trained off or decided he would rather be a stallion and there is nothing new in that.
In summary we think he is a great prospect at a very modest fee. Time will tell but the response to him has been very encouraging.

Isnt it his job to be telling the boys what they need to do because remember starters (not just Garry) are constantly approached by trainers during the day telling them this and that and what they want to happen with their horses at the start. And because he cant be standing right beside each of the boys giving instructions he has to shout the instructions and being "miked up" it ends up sounding louder than it really is. Would you prefer that he just says nothing so none of the boys have any idea what has to happen next and it becomes a total shambles,?
As is often brought up in sports, its okay to get rid of a person but then who is better out there to replace him.?
