Round 10 results:
Two more bite the dust and we have found our top 3.
The McCook's excitement at Yorkie's demise was short lived, but you're right Jason - Sarah is guaranteed to be among the prizes. Hesi with a safe play retains his lead and passes the winner's tally from the last comp.

Hey Jason, it's highly unlikely, but technically Yorkie could still make the top 3. If he doesn't (or can't) post he will go on to the BEST BET and if that gets beaten he will survive and could outlast a couple of the other four.
The irony of course is that if it happens he will have benefited from one of the rules that he has rubbished in the past

On the other hand, what Mr. Dillon got right was that Mr. Haines refusing to be interviewed or further testify and be therefore subject to cross examination is exceedingly odd for three reasons, aside from that put forward by the RNSW Integrity Unit senior executive that he interviewed.
1. Because since his evidence was critical to the defence explanation, you might think his employer would have directed him to.
2. Because the rules apply to:
(c) all Licensed Persons and others working in or about any racing stable, or in connection with the management, care, control or superintendence of racehorses and their training and riding;
and 3. because the rules also apply to:
(d) all Owners, lessees and any persons comprising or having a legal or beneficial interest (either directly or indirectly) in an Owner, lessee or Legal Ownership Entity that is an Owner or lessee, or in a Legal Ownership Entity that has a legal or beneficial interest (either directly or indirectly) in an Owner or lessee under these Rules, and the Racing Manager, as applicable, thereof;
and according to the decision: " Apart from a 10 per cent share in a horse purchased in January 2015, he had no other involvement with the horses or the stable." So, he was also an owner at the time of the hearing.
The rules say that:
Stipendiary Stewards and Investigators shall, in addition to all other powers conferred by these Rules, have the power to question any person and require him to supply any information within his knowledge or possession or to make a written declaration (statutory or otherwise) or statement, respecting any matter connected with racing or otherwise being investigated by them.
Something doesn't add up.

No,
While the defence might be possible, its not probable.
I believe the story about the meteorite landing in the paddock is much more likely, than the current codswallop.

Another beautiful day in paradise.
The track is perfect, no suss watering out West, and no sign of cows high on cobble ........
The wind is up and the horses are a bit flighty up at the farm, but the cat is crashed out on the steps, so its going to be a good day.
The pin cushion says to get RICH today and get some home BAKING.
So its the PANTHERA in the 2nd, RONNIE (4), BOX them all (5), COKE Queen (6) and nail it all down with FAT BOY in the heaven.

That bit seems even more peculiar when the original RIU release said:
An explanation provided by Wexford Stables was that their horses had been exposed to heavily cobalt dosed water troughs the horses shared with dairy cattle. As part of our investigation the RIU undertook a series of trials that proved that cobalt levels above 200ug/L can come about by the oral feeding of cobalt in high concentrations. The trials were carried out by Dr Andrew Grierson Veterinary, advisor to the RIU. The trial and its results have been peer reviewed and confirmed by Professor Stuart Paine, an international expert on the subject. How the hell is one supposed to reconcile that? -

Which revealed cobalt levels of ?? So we now have 40 horses and a dairy herd grazing in the close confines of Matamata race-track in day-grazing paddocks! Have never seen an on-site milking shed in all my visits to Matamata stables. And before you mock this flippancy remember these horses were supposedly highly-tuned for imminent racing in races such as the Derby!--with their water intake closely monitored I imagine, not subject to unregulated intake from a communal trough.
No evidence from the farm manager? The classic Bain, Lundy, Watson, MacDonald strategy--stay shtum in case your memory forgets the script..

RIU also need to investigate the use of illicit drugs namely LSD, mushrooms, PCP and Ketamine. The hallucinogenic drugs affecting the staff who were under the illusion that the racehorses they were looking after were actually milking cows is a serious issue and the welfare of these workers should be taken into account and appropriate rehabilitation undertaken. I would not want my child to be working in an industry where the staff are so deep in their drug use that they don't know where they are or what species of animal they work with, that is an issue we as an industry need to address. I just pity the dairy farmers on these drugs who are lunging 550 dairy cows a day.
