Southland reacted to chiknsmack in Improved TAB site?
Much improved for me. Pre-update, when going from one race to another at the same meeting and then back, the first race wouldn't load the second time. No such problem now.
The colours make everything easier on the eye as mentioned. The font change to make a lower case "A" easier to distinguish from an "O" - while probably not a big deal to most people - is a big deal for me.
I'm having no problems right now with slow loading, nor any problems on the live sports page. It'll be interesting to see how the site goes on a busier day.

I recall that NZTRs bad debtors used to be published in their Thoroughbred Racing Monthly mag (now online). It appears that this no longer happens. Isn’t it time there was some public  disclosure given the level of monies owed?

“A separate review is underway on the executive leadership team whose top six members took home $2.5 million between them last season.
RITA board members earned $263,667 for the 14 meetings they attended last season”.

A management team collectively earning less that $1mill could do the job.
Seriously if these numbers are legit this is just BS. So these clowns are collectively paid $18k to attend a single Board meeting!
No wonder the industry is drowning. Outrageous sense of entitlement.

Southland got a reaction from Peter R S in Favourites function on TAB website
Peter, the TAB give you one days grace. On the Racing home page select the YESTERDAY tab. Select meeting, race then runner. Open the runner form and select the Favourite icon (right side of screen).
Any more than  one day and you’re buggered.

Southland reacted to uneasy in Mrs Cubes is optimistic about Spring Racing @ Riccarton
I'm with you Cubes we all need to be positive and look forward to spring racing. I struggle with the negativity of some people.
That old adage out of adversity comes prosperity We fully intend to be up and ready to go come 1st July, if that's when we kick off.
The Pitman Racing team aren't ready to give up, unlike some I know. The Parsons, Champion and Murphy stables share the same positive attitude we do.
All the best to the entire racing community see you back at the track!!

Southland reacted to tripple alliance in Cannabis testing
What a crap topic , we all know cannabis affects peoples ability to react so clearly it's going to cause/fail to prevent accidents , for that reason alone keep it under control .
The psychosis that comes with it after prolonged use will ruin lives and strain the mental health budget , we all know alcohol causes problems but that's not an excuse for make things worse .
Another effect of legalising it will be the undermining parents who are trying to keep their children on the right course .
  14. Thanks
Southland reacted to GOM in Cannabis testing
Has cannabis use been proved to be a factor in some serious work injuries or death ? Yes .it has
Has P been proved to be a factor in serious work accidents and death/ Yes it has.
I also worked in construction  working on preventing injury. My experience of that time was that drug use was common and dangerous.
Nerula's comment to open, was correct, it will be the employer's responsibility to ensure the employee's safety (as well as the employee)
When people vote on the issue of legality at the election they should ask themselves one simple question? Will legalising cannabis possibly cause harm? Yes it will
We keep on moaning about the unbelievable behavior of some of our young people and yet continue to put more risks in front of them.
We keep scratching our head about how to prevent youth suicide yet legalising cannabis is certain to make the problem worse.
So weed and P are chicken feed compared to what you have assaulted your brain with. That becomes apparent on reading your comments above.

Southland got a reaction from Chestnut in Benbatl - La Mer family lights up!
Read with interest that Cox Plate invitee Benbatl has bounced back to form with a Group One victory in Germany. Looking at his pedigree it was interesting to see La Mer 4 gens removed on the bottom of the page.
I don’t know to much about this family since the great filly raced in the mid 70s but would be interested in thoughts on what may have activated this pedigree to leave a horse of Benbatl’s quality.
In terms of the dam line I guess class is permanant but do you see any other influencing factors?
