It makes no difference to my opinion what those numbers are. If you do the math ie numbers bred per annum versus adoption spaces available each year, the numbers are polls apart. If we are going to allow breeders to churn out excessive numbers each year then those breeders need to take responsibility for what they produce. That's my opinion, you may disagree, it's still my opinion.

Worst way and most painful way for a dog to die if it was heat exhaustion.....grnz need to stop greyhound farming and eliminate the numbers game right now if they are serious about welfare.....limit numbers breed per kennel and numbers trained before our sport is destroyed through greed...

Forget “It’s a bad look” - it’s an absolute disgrace!
It doesn’t matter what industry it is, if it was someone with a car load of poodles - it’s complete negligence and who ever is responsible should be in court and out of the industry FULL STOP.
Anyone that makes excuses or allowances for this type of negligence is as bad as those responsible in my opinion.

I would like to thank the Huntley family for giving coats as a prize, for getting  in the final for the Ray Huntley Memorial .
As we had 3 dogs in, we got 3 coats, which is very good for cold winter nights.
And for them to give away a coat to all dogs that made the final.
    Again thank you,
    Bev Duganzich

Yes the list down here keeps growing. After GAP lost its kennel base in Amberley we were rung to say that no dog on the list can race.If they do they would be removed. Was told that the list would reduce quicker this way.It hasn’t.Like most I had dogs on the list while racing.
I have since transferred my two dogs on the list to Hampton Downs.Yes it will cost me about $600 to take them up,but that’s the choice I make.I have had 1 dog go thru Hampton Downs and find them to be great

Julie said that she had resigned because of somebody bagging them.

Common grnz...stop being dictated to...these new rules will end up having more dogs euthanized...some of us spend dollars to save a dog after injury and now they arnt suitable for gap.......i thought you are suppose to be saving dogs ???

Alison reacted to Jape in Edith Kern RIP
It came to my notice that a past greyhound trainer, Edith Kern, had died recently.
Edith became well known through the deeds of her very good greyhound, McKern, who was a son of Wendy's Legend x Pandalola. McKern was beaten a nose by another very smart dog in Cool Tee Jay in a Wellington Cup and Edith also campaigned McKern in Australia.
Later Edith joined forces with Owen Marron and this was a formidable combination, enjoying  considerable success particularly at Hutt Park, on the grass track at Palmerston North, and at the Solway racecourse. Indeed, for a time, Masterton was very much the centre of greyhound racing in the Central Districts.
As the tracks mentioned came to be closed down, or reconstructed in the case of Palmy, so the Kern/Marron names came to be seen less often among the trainers' lists until they slipped out of the greyhound game completely.
Edith Kern was an admirable member of the greyhound community and will be well remembered by those who were also part of the sport at that same time.

Don't think " trainers in general " don't care about their dog. Most trainers have a great love for these wonderful animals,  a few let the majority down. We rehome all our dogs, some of which can be here for up to a year after they retire from racing, you don't do that without loving them.  And yes Bonnie is at the riccarton market as often as she can.

How can you be so deliberately obtuse? The rule has nothing to do with activists, they will never shut down the sport. This is about public opinion and also takes into account the opinion of the sports own members. The rule which states "dead or alive" is also called blooding which is a more accurate term. And it is the blood and guts of a dead animal that you seem sadly hell-bent on holding on to. If you remove the word "Dead" form the rule you leave the cheating door wide open. Why because you are giving permission for those who wish, to kill animals for the purpose of blooding their dogs. "Dead?", is that killed yesterday, this morning, 2 minutes before the poor animal was tied to the lure? Was the live animal acquired for the express purpose of baiting a dog and did you kill it in front of the dog? But your honour it was dead when the dog chased it! Get a grip people, you are living in fantasy land if you believe changing the rule would be to the advantage of the industry.

A tanned skin is a by-product of the food industry, a product sold and used for several purposes. If you cannot train a dog using legal means like plenty of trainers do, then you need to hand in your license. If you do not possess the skill to train your dogs without the use of blood, you need to hand in your license. If you cannot change your methodology to produce chasers, you need to go! And what about the opinion of potential adoptees? Those wonderful people who give our dogs a forever home after racing? Do you really believe that group supports your outdated belief? If blooding increases pray drive, then does that prey drive switch off once adopted? A percentage of dogs will fail the temperament test due to genetics and natural prey drive levels. Why would you want to increase that level of failure by blooding a dog? Have you read the comments from adoptee groups? Do you fully understand the harm that this particular investigation has brought upon the sport? NO, no you don't! You are a selfish little man who can't see past his own immediate needs, and you need to go as do the others that support you. The dogs no longer compete using live pray, outlawed many years ago, and guess what the sport survived.

The world changes, you change with it or you die. The rule exists, there is no room for interpretation which eliminates the will to cheat. That puts everyone on a level playing field. People reading your comments will now be wondering if the money they wagered was just a donation? Was the outcome dictated by more than punting homework and racing luck? Was it? To be considering any of the above questions is to the detriment of all. And before you come back with some pathetic excuse to bring back fresh skins, along with your usual tirade of abuse, plenty of good trainers are saying F#CK U!.

was thinking that. have the NZGRA spoke with the 3 employees that have advised they have seen this? another question how do the other codes deal with participants under investigation? I know innocent until proven guilty but do they other codes have any stands downs for pending investigations?
As in my workplace I would be stood down pending investigation if I was accused of an instant dismissal case( as basically if found guilty of this offence it is instant dismissal for this kennel)
