  1. its not about making my message more legible at all. i sincerely believe it is just an arrogant person who feels hes in a position to look down and judge harshly because my grammar is not up to his standard. does that make me a 12 year old deserving of ridicule? my input is not that hard to understand.if it is i urge you to not bother reading it rather than judge and ridicule. ohokaman has made several barbed ridiculing comments about my grammar. according to you that is acceptable but if i have the audacity to attempt to defend myself you come from nowhere and add a truly contemptible contribution that reeks of self importance. some in this life are very quick to judge others and never stop and think just for a moment if they are going the early crow. im fully aware my grammar is not a personal strength of mine. would you confront somebody in a bar face to face about the way they communicate or do you just save that to do bravely online? as you and the other hero have chosen to be personal i will explain some about my past which may help you better understand.i was born in christchurch.we moved to melbourne when i was a 10. my family was hit with a high profile tragedy in country victoria when i was 12.i lost three of my family.my attendance at school after that was intermittent at best.nobody ever questioned my intellect but some parts of my education suffered. i returned to christchurch when i was twenty and was later gifted a share in a horse that performed with real credit including being placed in the nz cup at addington. i was hesitant about joining this site as ive seen pointless ridicule on here and was concerned i may be subjected to it. i decided to risk it as my love of harness racing has been a gods send in my life and felt it would be enjoyable tp have a shared interest on here as some obviously love the game also. it is clear to me that if i stay on this site i will be subjected to further ridicule from people who rate themselves extremely highly. as a result i will not contribute again and end my membership now. thank you to kakama racing84 and lamour for seeing past my poor grammar. best to you all. john
  2. if there is no immediate betting turnover on it ted there is no hope.
  3. me thinks it is not so good that you would get all bent out of shape because someone does not use caps lock. and yes stalking. thats exactly what it is. its not enough for you to ignore the content of my message and just draw my attention in a condescending manner to where the caps lock is on my keyboard. you felt the need to then accuse me of being a 12 year old who writes drivel. i cant see anywhere on here where you have been appointed racecafe grammar police. is it a self appointed position. is it gratifying.what makes you believe you have the right to speak down to anyone on this site let alone a new member because their grammar is not great? i havent put that many messages up on here but have had about 40 likes.are the people who liked my messages just 12 year olds that understand drivel? ive read a few of your messages today and almost lost the will to live. they are incredibly boring and negative.private messages to me confirm you are known for that sort of message.racing84s advice to you that you get a life is spot on. Racing84's advice to you that you get a life is spot on. Despite your life obviously being sad and lonely, please try and enjoy your day. We only live once and how sad would it be that the epitaph on your headstone read, "Here lies Ohokaman. His grammar was good" R.I.P
  4. i met jack many times over the years and he was a big part of my interest in racing.who will forget his "this time" start of his race calling.he took me up to his calling box as a young boy to see him in action.he was a special man well remembered by many.
  5. whats your problem with the way i type? not only does it upset you it now has you stalking and insulting me.how sad and friendless your world must be.happy to admit grammar is not a personal strength of mine but people can generally understand what im saying.i came on here to share views on horse racing not have some tosspot take cheap shots.if my messages upset you that much i will cancel my membership.in saying that ive had many thousands of communications with people along my journey and never upset someone with my grammar the way ive upset you.hows your life going?
  6. my punting has finally turned the corner.i took a box trifecta today in the first race from gloucester park today and nailed it.i then took a quinella in race two and picked that as well.im very confident i can nail the quinella in race 3. number one and two look a good bet to run the quinella in race three.get on and dont say i didnt tell you. just to show my tipping is no fluke take a trifecta in race four. box up numbers 2,3 and 4. how good am i? what a day.who said punting is a mugs game?
  7. even if support is available few in that sort of hurt would accept it.their issues feel so big and unfixable its often just a matter of time before the trigger point rolls in.robin williams and many others had huge support but their personal issues felt bigger than that support.always a tragic thing especially when a young person chooses that option.there was a doco on tv last night about a family battling the bank to hold on to a family farm that had been in the family for many generations.the bank was brutal and the son who had the weight of the world on his shoulders took his own life when they were unable to hold the family farm.so tragic and so many victims left behind. dont know the personal issues that ross was dealing with but the end result is tragic for everyone involved. i watched somebody take their own life a few years ago.didnt even know what was happening until it was all over.i had terrible guilts and asked myself for years if there was anything i could have done to stop what happened.i know i couldnt have done a thing but that didnt stop the guilt
  8. im glad you are one of those good husbands who listens to your wife thanks for the tip. i will of course do my best to ignore whats on the left
  9. last night i tuned into the racing channel to watch a few races.i gave up after half a dozen races.the australian presenter just kept going overboard about "tab.com.au".they are obviously being handsomely rewarded for plugging that betting site but it was serious overkill.when you plug the site sometimes five and six times within 90 seconds of a race starting it becomes pain on my ears. this is a relatively new thing on the site to the level its now at. not sure why the change but its not a good change.my wife is an advertising excec so understand how it all works but they have got the balance wrong and it becomes insulting that you are being saturated with this sort of advertising.try listening to the afl radio over the ditch.everything has a sponsors name so it stops being a commentary and becomes a long ear bashing advertisement. example. bla bla bla kicks it out on the toyota sideline, just looking up at the coca cola scoreboard and there is no change.coming up in the bakers delight half time break will be a review of the first half.theres a break away down the supercheap auto side of the field that comes to an end by the video ezy touchline etc etc. you just have to turn it off and walk away.im sure tab.com.au is a good wagering site but repeating it top me over and over will not result in me using the site more or less.i will just turn off and walk away.please keep the advertisements for the add breaks only.i know trackside here cant do much about it but if their own customers are being turned off by it they may be concerned? tune in for a few minutes tonight when the aussie broadcast kicks in and see how long you can stomach it.
  10. seeing the post race if any group one race should never be seen as a bonus.absolutely refute that.we are fed hundreds of shite races wall to wall day in day out.the existing set up to show race broadcasts is well and truly catered for.if we treat group one derbies like just another dog race we are grossly undervaluing our premium product.you trivialize post race events by just describing them as celebrations.people who will bet on anything every 60 seconds dont want anything post race.just move on to the next two flys crawling up a wall race.those of us that appreciate group ones and that is why we stay in the game also need to be catered for.i dont need to see the speeches but id love to know what the winning driver of the nz cup was thinking on his way back to scale.i want to see and hear how important and special this win was to the trainer and why.if i also got to see how much the win meant to the owners id like to see that also. you build to a special moment on top of the mountain.lets enjoy that moment for two or three minutes.instead that is thrown in the trash bin and we come crashing back to earth with urgency as we race off to another dog race.what a massive anti climax that is borderline criminal. you are selling a magnificent diamond worth millions by auction.the excitement reaches a climax.then we quickly go to the next auction selling a 2014 plastic lunchbox.
  11. i agree that flattening your horse with a gut busting run is not a smart move if you are looking to win next time round.if on the other hand you are in the early stages of a new prep with the horse as was the case here lifting the horses overall race fitness for future assignments with a hard run will likely reap rewards in the weeks ahead as race fitness wins many races
  12. There was some more good news in an australian race last night. the first four was not struck so they jackpotted the entire $30 onto the next race.
  13. perhaps i should clarify what i meant by surprised. i wasnt surprised to see mitchell using a tote race as a trial which is the only credible explanation for a drive like that.i was surprised he would be so blatant about it.ive seen the horse race a few times and knew a round out the horse had no hope at all of being in the finish but still he pressed on guaranteeing the horse was a very hot favourite to run a distant last.that surprised me coming from a four time nz cup winning driver who knows all about times and margins.he must have known his horse had no hope 1400 out yet still pressed on.he also must have known he would be questioned about a drive like that? perhaps he felt the stewards would swallow anything he said as they always do so wasnt worried. his overracing yarn is a good one. mitchell had a serious challenge for the front 2000 from home two rounds out. he knew then the lead was not there. no sign of over racing. then 50 seconds into the video he's still urging his horse for the front. pulls the ear plugs two minutes into the video so still pressing. no sign of over racing. 2.15 into the clip his drive not surprisingly faints and drops out of it almost as if injured.that wasnt just a bad drive and a very bad look for harness racing.it was one of two things.an intentional brutal blow out in a tote race or incompetence.either way that should be a stint on the sidelines type drive? if not what is?
  14. must admit i was surprised to see an experienced driver like todd mitchell driving in that manner.call me cynical but i dont have a lot of faith in the explanations justifications and excuses reached for on the rare occasions the stewards ask the question. i tend to believe the bulk of what i see and just bits of what i hear.the over racing for that distance yarn is dubious at best.i felt todd was clearly pressuring josh in front for 1800 meters after it was clearly established the lead was not there.he was very clearly pushing hard for the lead until his horse fainted. i watched some australian harness last night also and there is a pathetic pattern that emerges in most of the races.a certain horse looks like it should win if it gets its own way in front.a rival driver makes a bid for the lead but gives up the moment he sees the lead will not just be gifted to him.that is the very moment the race is decided.from there its a procession and painful to watch.the race may have taken 2.40 to run but in reality only 2 seconds of that time was an actual race.if these drivers in australia can work out in less than 2 seconds that the lead is not there then why did it take todd mitchell 1800 meters?the fact his drive ran over ten lengths last and the horse he pressured the entire race ran the worst race of its career in second last was telling.i feel it is not unreasonable to suspect todd mitchell used last nights tote race as a trial race to increase the fitness of his charge for later assignments.i feel todds actions were so bad his deserves another stint on the sideline.what point is there having stewards if they let those events get a pass mark? i was going to bet on the last few races last night but race six left a bad taste and dented my confidence so i shut up shop. harness racing needs to be clean and transparent or people will go elsewhere with their hard earned. http://harness.hrnz.co.nz/gas/wa/r/infohorsewahr/wsd01x?Arg=hrnzg-Ptype&Arg=RaceVideo&Arg=hrnzg-RacehdrID&Arg=211850
  15. if we watch a race like that unfold and say nothing we have set the bar very low. todd mitchell is a very good driver but what was going on here with shardons sheralee. i enjoy seeing competitive driving where a driver just does not give up attempting to lead meekly but within reason. todd kept pressuring the hot fav majestic john for almost the entire race.a few things became very obvious.the first is josh was never going to hand up on the leader and secondly todds drive had no hope at all of being in the finish if he kept pressing but thats exactly what he did. never gave up on leading till his horse fainted and ran ten lengths last.majestic son ran a clear second last.was shardons sheralee driven in a manner to obtain the best possible placing? will anything be said? should anything be said? i got the treble with i am the one so not speaking via my pockets.i just thought it was a woeful display.chilcott got nailed to a cross a few seasons back when she did similar at the park and i thought todds display tonight was possibly even worse.
