You are 100% correct Pete.  It's not just the stakes in races but the only way that smaller trainers and studs can survive is selling horses to Aus and Hong Kong. Those markets want sprinter / Miller types eh
There is still good money stakes for Derby /Oaks and Cups in Aus though. Still a place for us to develop horses with some patience I think. Need to get some more quality fresh blood in the stallion ranks

This is an excellent initiative and Scooby is 100% correct we need to be more positive
I do note that the acceptance fee is $25k x 14 starters + nom fees   So circa $450k of this stake is funded by owners eh

What a great run from this horse all the way from Riverton. Had a lot of luck in the home straight.....all of it bad!! A really under rated type. Was awesome to see the South Island racing form stack up well too with the winner also successful in the Couplands Mile. 

The one thing i would like them to change is less camera on the auctioneers , we can hear them , more visuals on the bidders , love to see all the little bidding quirks , and the looks when some one bids back at them or getting well beaten for a horse . Great theatre .

I was more taken with the Written Tycoon filly. Not so much the Zousain filly they've paired her with for a fillies syndicate, but shares in the WT were probably out of my price range anyway.

He was the cheapest stallion at Darley this year but he won't be next spring eh!
