  2. ....were both among the tail gunners. His horse was Gods Own. The champ Makybe Diva won. FOO placed. Yet to win a gallops race there , but had a couple of placings in lesser races and won a Harness in lesser race. But Torch and others dont like me talking my experiences on here , but I thoroughly enjoyed the day.Cant beat Melbourne in Spring. And the race started at 3.30pm that year...2005...I checked.
  3. .....a few years back when I just happened to watch the great race sitting right next to the mighty JBCummings it started at 4.30pm. Haha , this post sure to raise the the ire of Torch and few other nvs types !!! http://www.racecafe.co.nz/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif
  4. .....for the recognition. It must have been hard for you to type that I was the 'best' even for one week !!! I sure miss CTaylor's astuteness tho !!! Did I see where Harbour got smashed....first time in history where points conceded has bettered the number of spectators at a home game. And is that good player Colin Bourke from your neck of woods....a real bad loser , blamed the ref , big time on tele , I hope he gets his ar$e fined good and proper. A lot to smile about at weekend ,but it's time Rugby had a break , it's damn near Xmas. Cheezy smile , cheezy smile , cheezy smile.

....for Luke. Two of Sir Grahams fav sons. The lineouts will probably go better now. As for Canterbury s chances...... Who is reffing , and what set of rules is he reffing to and are the Assistants and Video ref upstairs locals or are they neutral. I suspect Canterbury will actually try and win the game , bring their crowbars to wrench the RS away not do an Auckland and hope they are lucky. But anyone who saw that Auckland player wildly waving while the last kick was being taken ,last week , must question the mentality of that bunch.
  7. So sad to learn about this today. Met Blair a few times around stables and at races. He obviously loved horses and took great care and pride as strapper on raceday. He cared for one of our horses that won a Group 2 race and was very emotional at the presentation. A humble ,dedicated horse-lover. A great shame.
  8. .....lock em in , EXCEPT for one....Tasman to win. ps....when is this marathon going to end , I see some teams are bringing in the reinforcements.

  11. .....except Tasman to win over bucket-heads.
  12. ...must have been watching a different programme. I didn't see any champions racing or grown men crying. Not on the tele show , it showed a couple of jumpers and a few horses walking around. But yes , I have been to Group racing at York. But this thread was not about me , it was about why you found the Undercover Boss show so outstanding and how it may apply to the struggles of NZ racing. So enlighten us....start by explaining why the Undercover Boss was accompanied on his journey by a cameraman and support team. Maybe that was to ensure his workers would be themselves and talk freely , realising they may be on the tele !!!
  13. .....one of Gastro's mates ,aye ?? Maybe you were 'bought' up together !!! Gastro seems to have a 'big like' for league as well....none of that around here either!! Pleased you enjoyed the program....I think the Cooking competitions, Top Model shows , X Factor and Animal Rescue shows are much superior !!!
  14. ......scored a first five !!!!
  15. .....tell us more on why this UK program was outstanding. No need to resort to personal insults toward moi . My reference re 'Work bought home' was the the fact that he may have 'brought' some work home but unlikely to have bought it !!!! Come on now , list the outstanding messages out of this UK program ???
  16. .....my point. Apparently the ref came out in media and said he definitely should have awarded a Penalty Try. That decision cost Northland one point , and after the conversion they would have had over 3 minutes to push for a second one. With the speed of some games the refs must be struggling to keep up , therefore their assistants need to be alert to what is happening. But a few home-town decisions are coming from the assistants....even Tasman were robbed of a try on Sat night late in game. It made no difference to result or bonus points, which made it even more baffling . Auckland may have been robbed of a try by Video ref , cos of reluctance of ref to make an instant decision and the tendency of defenders to cut down the Camera angle. Another game at weekend the ref went upstairs and said.....any reason not to give this a try.The replay was unclear thru bodies so a try awarded. Compare this with the question....try or no try.....bodies in way so ruled held up !!
  17. ......could be crucial in the final standings. Without doubt , it cost Northland one bonus point for the try which was certain , then they would have had the chance to earn a second point for a 7 point loss. If you missed it , the coathanger was a shocker and it was a miracle Hamilton escaped serious injury.
  18. ......and outstanding ??? Got a laugh early on when the wife was interviewed and she stated her Hubby was committed to the job and takes it serious.....really ?? Then she said he 'bought' work home ?? One of the 4 chosen employees had only worked there one year. It was touching when the 81 yr old gate supervisor was made the first employee of month and the track manager got told he could keep living in his house, assuming the son would take over his job. But tell us more Gastro !!!!
  19. ......go you good thing. From Sydney as well !!!!
  20. ......EXCEPT Tasman to win ! Its cricket season , when does this marathon season finish.
  21. ......how you love to state the obvious, and judging by the number of posts you make about rugby and other obvious 'oh so boring but obvious topics' it becomes obviously obvious. Your latest obvious , is some poll that makes Rugby the most popular sport in NZ. Really !!!!! And recently you bemoaned the fact that Womens Rugby never got a fair go. Really !!!!! I didn't bother pointing out the background to this , when the current Admin basically killed Womens Rugby dead when they were screwing many other facets of the sport up in NZ.Many areas had to pretty much scrub a lot of their fringe areas of the game ,such was the incompetence of the Admin. To their credit they are learning by their mistakes. Recently I went to a game with 10,000 spectators here , a great crowd , a max price of $20 to get in. 12 months ago the crowd was less than half that and it was rent-a-crowd as it cost $40 to get in....they learned. If I want to get gung ho about things-rugby and frankly I couldn't give a horses - arse about it I wouldn't raise things on here . I still watch more games each week than most , even you and chat with folk re the sport. Back in my day both Tasman and Harbour never existed , and that's the way it should be. Tasman is a merge of two Unions which rarely works and Harbour is a complete waste of space. Local players here ,in the main ,move away to other provinces and so they should to get some education and we get players from teams such as Harbour B and other big centres club scene as they are too lazy to develop their own, while Harbour seems totally dysfunctional but like Auckland seems to dredge the Pacific for players, and even imports coaches. Weren't you the development team coach ??? Missed the obvious there !!!! And Harbour stalwarts bemoan their lack of population and players....we punch above our weight......hohohow obvious !!! Question....If rugby is so popular in Auckland and Harbour why don't more people go to watch.??? Crowds of less than 6000 on a fine Sunday afternoon at Eden Park is pathetic.Less at Albany. Yet 60% of people like the sport. They try and be Macho like you cat....it's the power of the Brand in Nz. When I lived overseas , all Kiwis were expected to play Rugby , and to their credit most gave it a go , all except one from your area , who preferred to tell all in Sundry that he was injured from playing the Springboks for the NZJuniors !!! A good story , but as a Kiwi he couldn't bare to admit he had never touched an Oval ball....another Macho Harbour hick. ps....look after Jeff Wilson , he claimed his fav sport was Basketball.
