  1. Hasn't Sepoy star dimmed somewhat , a $40k & $120k purchase yesterday compared to the same dizzy heights last year was getting a $1.6m yearling.
  2. Might be a case of having to be quiet , a pretty strong sale in most places. Reliable Man going well. Cape Blanco struggling. Pins & Iffraaj making a little bit of a come back Tavistock as expected.
  3. I doubt that, stables go in cycles, even the really big ones.
  4. Any idea of the readings in the NZ cases? I thought Shaun Ritchie had a good idea a while back on Weigh In about publishing the results for all to see like they do the TC02 results. You'd perhaps think with a suggestion like that there is more to it than meets the eye.
  5. No it doesn't mean they are insulting the horse ,but I never said that . But does surmising if so and so horse was in the race or if the race was run under certain conditions or on another planet show any respect to the winner?
  6. Are they odds on for Ellerslie tonight ?
  7. Yes but like the start before that was not the conditions of the race, I assume every trainer knew the race was a SW&P race before nominating their respective horses? I can't see the logic here is everyone surprised he was better off at SW&P and only want to compare it to how they would have been in a Handicap race, cause in most cases he is worse off at SW&P than WFA and from memory wasn't this race SW&P last year as well? Perhaps its just good placement by the trainer who won the race?
  8. Looked to me like SW&P benefited a lot of horses, yesterday Kawi had to give SD an extra 1.5kg on their last start, Addictive Habit a kilo so how did the SW&P race only benefit Kawi?
  9. After the race he mentioned he would be spot on for the Herbie Dyke and that was the race yesterday he felt if he was going to get beat it was yesterday something along those lines. Sports Illustrated was supposed to be flying yesterday as well according to Trainer and the horses jockey so can't see how you can claim she was under done but Kawi wasn't?
  10. Excuses excuses , TML can thank the handicapper for getting a start in the race at Hastings would of ,could of ,should of . I recall the trainer of Kawi saying he wasn't screwed down for the 1st leg at Hastings but still was too good for them, he also mentioned yesterday that he was vulnerable and only really does what he has to to win a race so I wouldn't be taking too much notice of margins.
  11. The build up to the Thorndon was very good with a number of trainers backing their horse , don't understand why they don't make much more of this during the week leading up to the race. David Greene looks a credit to his occupation comes across as confident but with substance to what he says a lot like those good Australian trainers actually, his interviews are informative as he doesn't beat around the bush and backs his judgement that G1 win doesn't look far away.
  12. Why? He is a triple G1 winner already. Do you mean the hype train won't get in behind him like they have the Hoof? A combination of the owners, the horse being by a stallion they are trying to build up to be the next Zabeel , a subservient trackside and a bit of social media attention targeting the younger audience. Be interesting to see when Kawi goes to Aus.
  13. I hope the Hoof is as good as Bonecrusher as well, but let's not over look the obvious the new Bonecrusher is already here and his name is Kawi!
  14. They sound like the sort of comments someone makes before the yearling sales.
  15. They can see it no doubt about that. Their mantra is the foal crop is dropping off and the industry will decline accordingly, no initiatives to remedy the situation because it would take long term planning and thinking to do that and thats just never going to happen under the current regime.
  16. Youre a far better judge than I, but I'll take Caorunn & Sacred Elixir as my two picks.
  17. Hadn't seen this before till you mention it, Well impressive.
  18. Daria's Fun, Cluden Creek and Rastes for me.
  19. Great post so very true as well. There is no coordination or integration of strategies either its just a dart thrown at a dartboard (or more likely a look across the Tasman at what they are doing and copy that) which makes for a miss mass in delivery of race dates, programming, trials, track surfaces the list goes on and on.
  20. Fair enough , just seems to lack a stand out horse in this years event perhaps?
  21. True Biff. I think there are some good people at Head Office that probably aren't getting the opportunity they deserve whether that be via lack of leadership as someone has already pointed out or the inability to use their own initiative or any kind of innovation to improve things remains to be seen.
  22. Ok, I thought she was riding Caorunn in the Karaka Millions but couldn't find her with a ride in that race. Strange for NZ's leading rider to not have a ride I'd have thought.
  23. Is this why Allpress has no rides at Ellerslie on Sunday?
  24. Good post SD , but don't blame the committees and clubs for it, most of them are doing all they can to keep their heads above water with no help at all from above.
  25. Trainers in the CD crying out for an industry day meeting this week after the debacle of abandonment's & over subscribed race days and some being told that there is plenty of racing around for their horses like Trentham for example , just goes to show the level of comprehension by those involved in running the sport in this country. Grass roots racing desperately needs re-igniting without it in a few years time there won't be two premier meetings on in a weekend like this week. I can't for the life of me work out why there cannot be race meetings put together at short notice when there is a demand for it?
