  1. I was thinking the same myself when looking at Noms, but the fact you have just 4 horses there in initial noms is indication enough that the policies & strategies of NZracing over time have not been working at all. Interesting also that 3 of the noms are the fairer sex.
  2. Yet another copy of something happening in Aus.
  3. A genuine top class horse he is , but to say he gets no publicity is just not the case. There must have been 5 stories I saw during the week about him having a trial - the horse gets plenty of publicity especially from his main cheerleader NZTM & the riders agent .
  4. Agree with youre comments ,To my mind its being used as a scapegoat for poor performance in NZracing and another mirage put in place to allow the establishment more time to achieve very little. They are even attempting to school people on what to say about it , now that says a lot about its relevance if thats the case.
  5. I just don't believe he is getting talked about that much, I haven't really heard any racing people talk about him that much let alone non racing people. The talk seems to be all coming from the stable and his social media avenues. They seem a bit desperate to make a brand out of him imho, the entire David Hasselhof thing comes across a bit fabricated and cheesy. and NZ is desperate for a very good horse but its a little perverse when there are already two proven horses in this country that I think can be competitive in Aus. Kawi & Stolen Dance that aren't getting anywhere near the attention this fellow is getting. Having said that I hope he goes well as I like the horse, Hope I'm wrong but I reckon he gets beat this week.
  6. Much like Shaun Ritchies idea , now talking it in Aus. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/superracing/vic-racing/cobalt-register-the-only-way-to-weed-out-crooks-say-fedup-trainers/news-story/e61297d139b68e7c4f6cdb34c12b64cb
  7. Got an email for the annual ripoff a few days ago. $110 to register your mare & foal with the studbook or $70 per mare. How in today's world of technology is this still relevant, surely it is time this was made a small token payment whereby the entering of studbook details can be done via the breeders portal on the site(and updated from there)? Where is the $70 worth of value in entering a mare in the studbook? If we have an organisation that has a cost structure whereby it's costing $70 to enter a horse in the studbook then we are totally F##k#$!
  8. I think RVW is suffering from the haven't left a headline act yet syndrome, there were some pretty good judges on them at the sales like Moroney,McKee, Cataldo etc. Tavistock was the same once VSB came along he was deemed worthy and kicked on. Capella might be the headline act he is looking for she looks a bit special, I'd love one and they can only get better.
  9. I can see your point, but none of them go when its on anyway do they?
  10. Yeah perhaps the Te Akau Stud sponsored stable attendant - great idea! Then perhaps a clerk of the course from the same stable, why not throw in a judge sponsored by the stable as well?
  11. Thats the problem I think they had an upgrade lol Very difficult to maneuver about on, not particularly user friendly as an example you click on a photo of a horse in the catalogue and it goes to the horse photo , then click on the lot number it goes to the pedigree page click back and it takes you back to the start of the catalogue. Viewing the results now is also a horrible experience unless dumped into Excel. Very frustrating as before the site was excellent, visually good and easy to get around and find what you wanted. The streaming on the site has also been a step backwards from what it was, I gave up on the Select sale most days after about 20 mins.
  12. No everyone is entitled to their opinion, I think what you say though probably applies to 99% of the population not just Sharrock.
  13. I'm pretty sure he had his fair share to say over the Shez Sinsational incident so not sure your mail is on the lolly there. Probably one of the most underrated trainers in the country and there is no doubting he knows a good horse have a look at what he has trained, also a fantastic talent at spotting up and coming jockeys have a look at his record there also, stable is on absolute fire this season - can't wait till Kawi gets to Aus!
  14. Dawn till Dusk wasn't a bad horse either.
  15. Was Grey Swallow one of the AK's? I think I remember him being in pre-post markets for the Cox plate at some point, he may even have run in one won an Irish Derby from memory and G1 in the US. Stood for about $4k in Aus. I always thought would have been better suited to NZ , don't think he has left much. His sire Daylami was a brilliant horse though built like a brick S@#house and could stay, a half to Dalghar of course.
  16. I spelt it wrong as well Manntari , Dalghar seems similar to him exceptional bloodlines but not really a European top liner. Any word on the progeny of Dalghar only 2yos I think?
  17. Might be wrong but didn't Daliapour have a short racing stint down under? Darshaan been pretty influential as a BM Sire in Aus/NZ.
  18. Was Maantari one of the AK's?
  19. " Here is one for the Tesio's, those that arrived on a bicycle. " - Brilliant!
  20. Good point about Per Incanto, has become a bit of the forgotten sire , no idea why. So far this morning Lot 470 a lovely filly!
  21. It's terrible to put it bluntly. They had the best website of all sales companies imo prior to this but the functionality has taken a massive step backwards.

    Wow

Fair call. But what new bloodlines? Galileo and Danehill the stallion ranks are dripping with them. Surely the end result is to get a racehorse first and then a stallion? I may be wrong and the horse may have been the nicest horse in the entire sales and I understand the risk to those buying the horse is probably less than the risk of me buying a mince pie from the gas station every morning and difficult to me to comprehend that there are proven breed shaping stallions out there that never get near that type of price. Understand what Midget is saying and thats probably closer to the truth.

    Wow

Yes was an interesting buy, I guess the claim will be as a residual family as a mare but then who are the Chinese going to sell all their stock back to if they aren't buying them and are sellers instead in a decade? I can't get my head around the Frankel that money for a 1st season sire who hasn't had a runner yet best looking Frankel colt doesn't mean much if they aren't any good, from a sire line that hasn't set the world on fire down under .Sold for more than twice the price of the best Fastnet colt in the sale a stallion whose left in excess of 20 G1 winners .Hopefully he is heading up north. I can't help but wonder if the better horse was bought by a very astute buyer immediately after the Frankel went through the ring.
  24. That given, it doesn't automatically mean he will make a stallion.
  25. $1.3m for a horse by a stallion that hasn't left a runner yet and to top it off by a stallion whose sire sons in NZ haven't been overly popular at this sale RVW & Cape Blanco. Fastnet,Redoutdes,Snitzels,E&Es,Tavistocks even Savabeels aren't going for that.
