    Aussie Visitor Wins Karaka Million

Was Boodles eligible? If it was I bet it would have run.
  4. Isn't the sales coverage sponsored? Will we miss any racing because of it? I'll get the dog to flick between channels when there is a race on.
  5. I'm looking forward to watching the sales, glad they have it on the nelly.

    Volkstok'nbarrell

Impressive win last night, though I think he was put under a bit more pressure than they made out. Had the 2nd horse run a straight line it might have been interesting. Fascinating to see if he gets the derby trip.

    Last Zabeel at Karaka

Trackside TV - Twits On Tweets

I don't mind the tweets but can see your point if you want to view the horses. I bet there are some serious tweets tonight.

    Otago Bred.....

How about Highly Recommended is he the new Handsom Ransom? How will Per Incanto re-invigorate CD breeding when he will likely be priced out of the range of the majority of CD breeding , particularly if one wins tonight. I don't imagine his fee staying the same.

Horse wasn't bred at LA was it?
  13. I'm not going to trot out anything about stakes and I'm not going to argue with an Ellerslie apologist absolutely pointless youre never wrong and have a book of excuses twice the size of the bible! I have no problem with an initiative that is well thought out and is actually an initiative , this is simply plagirising ...again! and as I have stated it ridicules the involvement of the horse and potentially its welfare. best of luck punting a tough day so far.
  14. No way ! That's why you have these initiative instigators youre so pleased with, they have copied enough without someone else giving them a leg up.
  15. So there is no way the fireworks display will upset any horses?

    Wellington Cup? Don't care

Its not a bad field I'd have thought for whats available. Some promising horses in it Maygrove,King Kamada, Just the Tip,Perfect Start,Decorah, Cursive -looking forward to it should be a great race with the tempo on.
  17. Twilight racing is fine, it was never a NZ initiative it was copied from o'seas, why the round of applause? I don't believe the fireworks display has the best interests of the key players in racing at heart and thats the horses . Heaven forbid if your horse doesn't swab quickly after the last. Over a million in stakes up and last year Oncourse $424k off course $1.6m , in a city with over a million people, a captive audience from the sales, one of the best facilities in the country not to mention a racing club with full time staff etc and you're happy with that? It's the prevailing attitude that the horse and racing itself will never be able to attract patrons to the course that is the problem. Initiative after initiative after initiative has been tried by the same crowd for years its doing nothing positive for the longevity or interest in the sport , fix the product and they will come!

Given the same individuals who are supposed to be neutral and working in the media are jockeys agents, racing managers producers of Stud infomercials aligned to stables the list goes on , you'll never get a decent story out of them.

    Per Incanto

Lot 645 in Select looks a nice type.

    Perfectly Ready

They seem to be warranting a bit of time & showing form over a trip. Be interesting to see how they sell this sales series, I notice none made above Festival sale this year.
  21. Just because you're trying something different doesn't make it right. This is a silly initiative for safety reasons and also because its no different to every A&P show across the country or other such events, so to describe as an initiative is far fetched. If youre going to the races to watch a fireworks display youre hardly going to the races to watch the races therein lies the problem.
  22. What if any horses from a distance away have to stay on course before they leave the next day? Just total dis respect for the participants in the industry. Fireworks are already enough trouble during November/December without having them at the racetrack. Whats next drag racing and burnouts in between races? - so you can get a few more people who aren't interested in racing on course to buy a can of coke and some chips. Fix the product and they will come!
  23. Terrible decision , hard to believe!
