  1. I didn't hear GP. But I did hear John Allen , he sounded fairly sharp and at least had a bit of substance to what he was saying. PE asked him about paying a starting fee for horses to get fields sizes up, he said the code bodies are looking at it. FFS just bring back Free Racing and balance out the stakes in a more coordinated fashion - I mean why is a Spec Conditions Mdn racing for $50k on Saturday? I understand the race will probably be one of the better betting races but would that field be any different if it were for $30k and the other $20k was spread out on some industry days to support the base of the industry? This top down/aspirational approach is just never going to work imo.
  2. Interesting stallion proposition this colt. A half brother to Triple Honour G1 Doncaster wnr and frm the family of Jennifer and Phillipa Rush. Not to mention looks a bull of a horse on the telly. Make a good addition to the NZ Stallions ranks in the future.
  3. I'm not sure if he came back he'd be that well patronised . I think he needs a big horse down under and the stock appear to take time , nothing wrong with either scenario but the fickle industry we operate in nowadays means breeders would prefer to breed to the unknown before supporting such a stallion again.
  4. They probably are very good horses, but with the amount of things that can go wrong perhaps don't reach their potential. The two you have mentioned would get a lot of PR because of their Bloodlines also. Think we never saw the best of The Bold One.

It seems to me to be a run to get him ready for something, I think the value today has to be found in Vespa.
  7. It's also the livelihood of those that are competing against them, what about the connections of the beaten horses and rhe livelihoods of those impacted by this?
  8. Don't agree , they have had nearly a years worth of favours.
  9. Are you referring to those that came up with the "Cobalt in the Cows trough" excuse?
  10. We need better spread of stakes imo, not necessarily these increases we are seeing on these feature meetings on a Saturday. If you don't look after the base that supports the field sizes and horses in work for these types of days then where do they expect them to come from? Window dressing this industry will continue to ruin it.
  11. No evidence as administration , where does it say they looked for evidence of administration? Reads like a cop out for mine, which isn't a shock pretty much what most people were expecting. Hopefully there is more to come from the RIU?
  12. Are you on your "defend a pal high horse" or do you truly believe what your saying?
  13. FFS! Are you serious with those readings? My article comprehension may be very poor , but what was the outcome of these trials? An explanation provided by Wexford Stables was that their horses had been exposed to heavily cobalt dosed water troughs the horses shared with dairy cattle. As part of our investigation the RIU undertook a series of trials that proved that cobalt levels above 200ug/L can come about by the oral feeding of cobalt in high concentrations.
  14. generally speaking the wnr of a mdn gets 62 or 63 , the 2nd horse 52, 3rd 51 & 4th 50. Obviously this can depend on the horses initial rating, It's certainly not an uncommon rating given the its placing. I assume it was a rating 45 before it finished 4th?
  15. In short I'd have thought they'd need permission to have bookies on course and even then they'd just be from the TAB .
  16. It was an Event day. Wairoa on Sunday is also an Event.
  17. I presume its an Industry Event day , so they'd have got 8.5% of on course turnover - as you say not good enough. So barring the fact they had to offer great stakes to attract decent size fields , not much reward in putting together such a fabulous day for the industry.
  18. C'mon Biff the headings on those slides are using a real nice font!
  19. Here it is Biff Not sure why there is any trouble putting it up on the website Business Session 8 http://arcindia2016.com/business-programme/
  20. Looked a great day any club deserves a good day that puts up $$ from its own pocket like they do and not just through the funding model like only a few can do. Greg Purcell said on Peter Early show that NZTR were very pleased with what the club had done, well do something for these smaller clubs as they have for the industry and show you really care!
  21. You'd have to say he'd clean up this field , hope he does but I'm still a bit Allergic to him after his last start at Rosehill.
  22. Buy The Informant mate, its bloody good , especially the form section.
  23. Not only that, they are cutting race meetings at tracks that owners wanted to race their horses at, on top of that the multiplying impact of loss of horses in work at certain locations that prop up the fields at the so called premier meetings its all a shambles! I believe they think if they take race days away from smaller venues or close venues the horses lost from training at those locations will automatically reappear at one of the other venues. It doesn't work like that. The base needs to be supported to put in place a sustainable industry, the trouble is now the industry is or has been that screwed it will take years to recover or more likely won't recover at all.
  24. He was mis-quoted he said "ummmmm , ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh , great fields at X meeting this weekend Peter ..."
  25. Yep it is, I think the idea was it wouldn't clash with the Derby so the jocks could get there, unlike the situation of this weekend at Ellerslie and New Plymouth. Last year Savaria and PW deadheat with Pipi Beel 3rd and Exquisite Jewel & Choice down the track so not a bad lineup and probably a bit stronger than the Sunline Vase LY .
