    No Avondale

No doubt about it, but they aren't needed to the degree some say they are for smaller meetings run for turnover to get horses through the grades etc etc.

    Racing Bill Submissions

Surely on these Select Committees you need someone who knows something about the topic they are covering? some of the questions/comments asked it looked like they needed a Select Select Select Committee before the they got to this one.

    No Avondale

Exactly it makes absolutely no difference to who goes on Industry days whether the stands are flash or not. Hell why not hold industry day races in the provinces where there is a bit of a horse population and locals will support the meeting because they give a rassu about it. The programming and Calendar have clearly not been optimised! Be interesting to see who nominated horses for the Avondale meeting, with some very keen to see it sold up.

    Climate Change Racemeeting.

Can't we just have one thing in life "free" of the propaganda and virtue signalling that wreaks through society day after day ...?

    Youre taking the piss right?

    Stakes Allocation

Exactly and look at the programme in the CD ,the R82 YRAP cup being run for 20k the next day a R72 2100 run at Awapuni for 25k, these staying races up the grades have been struggling for numbers for years now(particularly when the tracks harden up), how hard is it to recognise the duplication in this? 6 noms at Awapuni one in both races. It really isn't that hard with some initiative. None of those fields at Awapuni or Tauranga would be any different if you took 5-10k off the stakes.

Winston not happy with Brian de Licker ?

So u want them to enable you to divert turnover away from one of their sources of income? What committee do you put out the table and chairs and pick up the rubbish for?

Why don't they have an option in the trainers centre menu where trainer can give their opinion/vote on what races they are looking for their horses in the future or where they are heading etc.Surely that isn't hard to do, instead its like you have said a few trainers pushing for what they need and the industry hoping pie in the sky thats going to be good enough.

    Where's the racing

No point in offering up solutions, they don't listen to facts, common sense ,analysis or commercial sense for that matter. They take a short term view of everything, the latent bias is there for all to see and that's why it's in the state it's in.

    Where's the racing

Help with whose costs? Are you proposing most horses from Thursday then race Saturday? Or new set of horses for Saturday? Still got to have staff travel with them or stay with them or at home to work them etc etc. I don't think we have the horse population or type of horse to race twice a week anymore ,well at least many of them. It ain't an easy solution, but the solution sure ain't what they are gonna do.

    Hawkes Bay fields

They have the option of holding it somewhere else. That just makes everything better taking it away from the local community.
  12. It would be funny if they didn't believe it. its the worst written piece I've seen for some time, so a 1 , 2, or 3 day club owes its existence ,growth and development to NZTR funding FFS they are dreaming ? If thats the case what do clubs with leased land owe NZTR are they going to get a bill?

    Hawkes Bay fields

If thats the case why are decisions to race in smaller fields being made at certain clubs and other clubs like many in the South Island not even allowed to split races with ballots? The owners and trainers are talking with their horses as to where they want to race , but the powers that be aren't or won't listen. It's not even a secret anymore , the rules only apply to a club depending on who you are. The sport is becoming a characterless homogenised version of what it once was, I don't believe I'm the only one that barely tunes into racing in NZ anymore and if I'm an example of the rest of racing followers/fandom the sport is in big big trouble in the future . It can't just survive off a once a year party and rose tinted interviews at Karaka with a chosen few, the party only lasts so long this one will be no different.

    Hawkes Bay fields

No not moved I understand that doesn't work , but the dates can certainly be better done, this isn't a one off its happening all the time and as WD points out it seems to be happening at a lot of the favoured clubs. Surely the dates go where the horses are and not the other way around.
  15. Huey

    Hawkes Bay fields

Exactly WD , what a waste of a meeting today, no reason why it couldn't have been held at a venue that has had racing taken off it. It defies belief the appalling decision making, but no one listens to any common sense as they have their own version of it. As an aside how boring is racing becoming with these poorly supported meetings at favoured tracks , it isn't good for turnover or general interest in the sport.

    Karaka

Might and Power, Occy,Jezabeel,Savabeel the list goes on outright champs in Aus , name me Savabeels can name in the same vein? Savabeels doing very well in NZ dominating in fact, but compare him to Zabeel seriously? I'll concede to you on Tavistock I couldn't find any stats on Arion with him being deceased.
  17. Huey

    Karaka

He might get a one year bounce but then they'd be on to the next big thing, have a look at the last few crops of Zabeel they weren't selling like previously and Savabeel is no Zabeel (pun intended). Where are all the good Savabeels in Aus? Or does TA buy all the good ones up? Tavistock arguably doing as well as Savabeel in Aus I'd have thought?
  18. Huey

    Karaka

Don't most stallions get the swerve when they pass away or aren't shuttling. Possibly more authentic sales of the Tavistocks than perhaps others.
  19. Huey

    Karaka

I think the Magic Dancer colt will top it, that seems to be the signal. Really like the look of lot 17,really interested in Lot 186 3x3 to SW and keen to see the progeny by Wrote,Van Brugh and Puccini. Interesting sale.

    Splitting Races

Then you have a 6 horse field in a R65 1800 and a 7 horse field for a R65 1400 at New Plymouth on Thursday. 20k stakes and 8 miss out on the ballot at Westland, hard to figure out isn't it.
  21. Huey

    Splitting Races

Let's be honest, the answer is simple. If you're in the club you can split races if you're not then you can't , Id be surprised if you got a common sense explanation.
  22. Huey

    Omoto

Exactly the distribution is just crazy, all of those races would have been no different if they prizemoney was $5-10k less.

    Raceday Attendances

Most of the committee are probably too busy doing jobs to keep the races going or watching a horse they have an interest in, that sort of thing should be the domain of NZTR or the TAB.
  24. Huey

    Raceday Attendances

Exactly Aaron and in Tau case they need to have a punter bet $235 through the windows on course to make the $20 they are out of them off the gate , if that day is an Industry Event day and they are eligible for on course Turnover, the other thing is the punter comes on course and bets on his/her phone all day and the club makes nothing out of the punt from them. A better way is to identify those that are punters and look after them accordingly but thats all info that should be being done by NZTR/NZTAB etc in the first place.
