So yesterday I was watching Sam Weatherley ride his first winner. This is a big deal.....or it should be produced to be a big deal. He wins this race - his first ever winner -  and instantly the bloody Trackside editor cuts to dogs. Not a dog race but of a dog having a shit on the track. Then it cuts to the owner who is so emotional he's chocking up because his horse has won (not common occurrence for him) but also because he's just given the kid his first winning ride. But before you can really get involved (what a plot line), the editor cuts away to the dogs again, but this time another bloody dog is having a piss in the middle of the track. Then the picture cuts half way through the first interview of the kid having just won his first race.
The buggar of it all is that the whole sequence of drama, achievement, passion and success was completely destroyed but an absolutely useless editor who must be a deviant because he must have seen on the screens that the pictures he was choosing were the dogs at various stages of relieving themselves when the real catch the client story was being bastardised through inept and amateurish editing.
For heavens sake. That was appalling. Who was in charge? He/ she needs naming and shaming.

Just examine the facts.
* Not enough Trainers pay up a sub to keep the NZTA viable. That is to provide, secretarial, communication, legal advice etc on behalf of its members, and if NZTA is the legally authorized body in the Racing Act then NZTA speaks for all trainers.
* Already NZTA provide a section in the NZTR magazine in order to keep those interested in their cohort informed.
* Historically NZTR have provided an annual grant to NZ Breeders Assn and NZ Owners Federation. The latter is much smaller but adequate.
I can advise that I have never felt my organizations (Owners) independence at risk and I have been its editor for 5 years in this unpaid position.

For God's sake the guy is only human. The "baggers" on here have probably never had to waste in their life let alone say they can ride a racehorse. They have spent every weekend since their 18th birthday going to the pub 2 or 3 times a week and getting obliterated in one of those. They sleep in in the weekend and "travel" to them is driving through the back roads from the pub to home. They sit at their leaners bagging jockeys, trainers, horses, coaches, players, and refs and say they can do better.
CWJ probably doesnt have these luxuries. Instead he's up at God knows what time, riding work, sorting out rides, travelling from Gore to Ellerslie, wasting hard and following a pretty strict diet. I'd say this tiny brain fade isn't worth the mere mortals having a cry about. I mean the guy has probably achieved more in one race than most of his BAGGERS can only dream about.

It sounds like someone is angling to get millions of dollars of Government funding, and all they need to do is feed a large segment of society some rubbish and they all take it in hook, line and sinker, as it fits with in the misinformation in their head after decades of propaganda. Cannabis is legal in a number of US states, where you can buy it openly from dispensaries; issues like this were aired, but the evidence did not stack up, and life has continued on very normally in these places, except the local Government is now reaping in millions of dollars of revenue.

Also metabolized cannabis has no effect after less than 8 hours. A test may indicate positive, but the metabolized THC in the system is benign. The body and brain already naturally produce substances that are very similar in nature to metabolized cannabis, so the body does not recognize it as a foreign toxin like poison, so it takes up to 30 days for it to be excreted, and the metabolized substance is non psycho active. On the other hand, alcohol is actually poison, so the body is trying to remove it as fast as possible.

Re the last race at Riccarton on Saturday (for which she got the suspension, which I agree had been coming just based on that day's rides alone), but from a business perspective, it was probably not a smart move for Sam to put one of Kevin Myers horses half-way through the running rail 

I totally agree her riding at times is dangerous. i feel very sorry for the owner of the horse she caused to fall at Timaru a few weeks ago, it was showing nice promise i havnt seen it back racing since, although i may be wrong. she also injured atleast 1 other horse in that incident. And didn't recieve any punishment for it even though she clearly tryed to force her way through a gap that was not really a gap at all!
