Any decent person would at least show some fight to clear his name? Seems he rolled over meekly, I only assume he is guilty?
In which case it makes sense. I would still like to see him charged, send them to jail. Harden up on these chests, over it

So nothing was said that might have   messed with the defence of the cobalt in the troughs?
And the valuable, highly strung derby thorougjbreds hanging out amongst his  dairy cows, contained by most unsuitable single electic wire fences, rolling in cow pats, risking colic as they gorged on lush annual rye grass pasture, braving whatever the elements threw at them despite being accustomed to the luxury of a cosy stable,  and having their elegant silken tails chewed by curious bovines as they napped on sunny afternoons ....
    THAT farm manager Robert? ....

Despite the fact she's a 7 year old her owner and trainer still consider her a professional racehorse so why, if they feel she's sound and fresh enough, should she not line up with a 7-10 day gap between races? It's usually a couple of weeks anyway.Agreed she would have been tired after her last race but she made a race of it and earned a bloody sight more than those who finished behind her. Give her three days off, trot her for half an hour the next two, breeze her up over 600 metres on Thursday and if you feel she's fresh and ready to go then line her up. Only the owner and trainer can make that call. Compare her situation with that of a managed syndicate who think their horse is actually better than what is is. $4,500 or more a month in training fees for six months and having just four starts before it';s eased and set for a bigger target which it might or might not be capable of.I have no connections with the horse at all but I think Cindy has a lot going for her and by her honesty alone must be a great source of pleasure to her owner. Racing needs more people how are prepared to actually "race" their horses.

awego reacted to departed in Closing down NZ tracks
Alan Sharrock, amongst others, is calling for a reduction in the number of tracks in NZ due to the spate of racemeeting cancellations recently caused by inadequate surfaces.  How will this help NZ racing?  Forcing trainers to try and sell their properties and try to buy a more expensive property near one of the main cities where the few remaining tracks remain?  Most will throw the towel in.
Trying to say there are too many tracks in NZ is nonsense.  Victoria has 67 tracks with a population of 5.7million.  Stakes are $23,000 for provincial maiden races, $120,000 for Saturday metropolitan races.  Crowds of 3000 are not uncommon at picnic meetings.  I haven't counted how many tracks there are in NSW, but it is a lot.  4 tracks in Sydney alone.
The problem in NZ is not too many tracks, it is not enough money.  Until the entire industry is taken apart and put together again with a whole new structure, nothing will change.  Winston Peters is not the saviour and never will be.  To get more money flowing in, betting turnover must be increased.  That will not happen as long as the TAB have a government-mandated monopoly.  They offer a mediocre product and have no incentive to sharpen up their act.  Once you let in bookmakers it creates competition and interest, and increases turnover.  It is already possible to operate an account with one of the many Aussie bookmakers from NZ, so why not just accept what is already happening and make the most of it?
As the rot continues more and more of the capable and ambitious jockeys will jump ship.  Michael Dee, Daniel Stackhouse, Michael Walker and Cory Parish are already doing very nicely thank you.  They won't be the last to make the move.  And in the meantime nothing will change.

The poor things head was completely cooked, it was him doing the checking in his previous races, watch them he's clearly been erratic/dangerous for quite some time. To race that poor horse is irresponsible and don't try to tell me his trainer didn't know what he was like. That jockey is lucky to be alive. Yep I'd say that poor horse is very unlucky to have been given the life he's had so far, so maybe you are right he is unlucky. Hopefully someone experienced and gentle has him now

Being older, I really enjoy the substantive basis of Brian de Lore’s articles in the Informant.

I came through a communication era of challenged information, outside of conformity Brian delivers a subjective questionnaire of the figurative leaders of our state. He needs to be applauded, for he provides question marks where previously full stops prevailed.
The nature of the revelations of his articles question  whether the management of the RIB are “fit for purpose”. You can answer the questions individually because  you are impacted by that question. I would say the balance sheet says NO.
Let me put it this way, in 1996 exports for NZ wine were $60m, thoroughbreds were the same. Yes a lifetime to some, nowadays, they are looking at 1 $billion in 2018. We are lagging behind by furlongs.
We were exporting product in 1996 at $90m, this coming year maybe $106m.
I know bottles can increase in production terms, horses don’t at the same rate, but the incentives and trade input has not been the same.
    What does this reflect............cannabilisation.
NZRB seems to think the same can prevail now. J Allen thinks he can grow the business from a small base, against international competition from all corners, then he is a legend in his own bathroom.
The industry needs a return to investors, be it by returns on investment or a relief for investment, then some assurance can be gained for doing so.
The plonkers in The RIB have a) no risk b)no understanding of betting and most of all c) no comprehension of how the industry in NZ works.
When you you get people with or without experience governing the show, then you will have an example like Fletchers on the share market, difference being you can sell your shares. Not us...........we just have to suck it up...........that’s why we have no say part form B de Lore.
    Sad state of affairs....................

Bit tough on Prom Queen Berri.  She has won eight of nine but ' ..... lord help us if that's is the best we can come up with'? What more could she have done other than win the other start?  She could well be a champion in the making.  And as for shifting it north which Northern fillies can you identify who would strengthen the field and if there are any why have their trainers not come south?
I think you will find that the dreadful spring weather is the reason for the lighter than usual field quality and numbers wise and indeed that and the road issues are the reason for the lack of Northerners at the cup meeting this year.
What it does do is give the Southerners a crack at some good stakes and hey why not?  I think the racing has been of reasonable standard, bar the 2000 Guineas rough house carry on , and at the end of the day the South deserves it's day in the sun.

Awego, you're spot on. It was like a dodgem car derby.  Stipes really need to toughen up. Rub them out...for several weeks & then we might get better racing and owners have a better chance of getting a decent result. Saturday for some was 12 months down the drain...

Never been an owner, trainer or breeder, just carried a bucket and spade. No longer bet, don't have trackside and haven't been on a raceourse for many many years, but heres my opinion why trainers don't speak out.
A majority of trainers in our main training centres depend on Race clubs for stables and land so obviously getting offside with these guys with a contary opinion could be disastorous.
A lot of trainers rely on the support of horses from big studs and big owners for for a living.
Now if breeders, owners, trainers and studs aren't all on the same page it's a big ask for a trainer to come out with a differing opinion.
Could be wrong and don't mind being ridiculed.Being married with children teaches you that.
