  1. Disgraceful from Luxon in my opinion, leaves a very bad taste. And I would've thought describing it as an 'entitlement' was a double own goal... like you've heard of entitlement issues right? Not something you usually hear as a positive way to describe someone.

"Self-entitled individuals have an inflated sense of self. They also have an inflated sense of what they themselves deserve from the world and from others. When someone's self-entitled, they're more likely to put their own needs above others, and are often too happy to inconvenience other people."

  2. If the TAB/Trackside can't get the small things right, what hope of getting the big things right?

The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.

But no, it's not the biggest issue in my life, so I'll leave you people who are happy with the substandard to it.

Just don't expect any new sets of eyes that see such things to take this sport/industry seriously... speaking of which we should be due for a TAB crash/outtage anytime soon...

Don't wear a dark suit when on screen, or wash your hair with some Head and Shoulders shampoo.

I thought they would have people employed to make sure presenters are presentable 🤔

I have pointed this out before,  and I must say I agree with Palliser , it's an extremely unprofessional look, once or twice ok and then get it sorted, but to regularly present with dandruff is shocking,  not only from Blake, but everybody else involved in the production,  his boss and so on... yes it sounds petty, and yes, there are much more important things in life, but agree with Palliser, it's a fair enough expectation to have, that a presenter looks presentable... imagine that from Simon Dallow, just would not and should not happen.

Their initial decision to depart from SKY to Spark was a disaster IMO. Lost a lot of followers and the passing of rights to TVNZ was seen by some as a hospital pass. NZC's income must suffer  as a result.

Meantime ill continue to watch top notch cricket with far better commentators on SKY. Tried to watch recent test but all the Maori stuff put me off. I Know  i'm not alone so no more Scotty for us.

Oh poor JJ all the 'Maori stuff' put you off... its an official language of this country and I'm sure there's plenty of people that are heartened to hear just a little fraction of their language/culture included in the coverage (barely 2% of the overall language used in the broadcast I'd suggest).

Cricket is a 'white man's game' and in recent times this is a point that has been discussed and looking to be addressed (inclusivity)... there's probably a whole bunch of young Maori kids able to actually watch some cricket for the first time in years, is that soo bad JJ that they might feel a little more included? Trivia..  Who was the last Maori to play for the Black Caps?

I reckon if this exposure/inclusivity were to continue for a few more years we might actually see some good young Maori kids come through and play for their country... I guess Maori playing for New Zealand would be too much 'Maori stuff' for JJ too..?

JJ, go and have a look in the mirror mate and give yourself an uppercut while you're there.

Should be a cracking game tonight!! And you better not be watching JJ!  Just incase someone hurts your feelings by uttering a Maori word.

  5. No I am not satisfied at this point, I had already sent an email earlier in the afternoon prior to the generic 'goodwill' email. I appreciate that this may not get sorted until tomorrow so will give them tomorrow to reply to my email, in my email I outlined a couple of examples (with supporting evidence) of them taking my money, but not paying out the dividends, and I detailed how much I believe they owe me, (not a bonus bet, real money) ... so the goodwill bonus bet is something that barely covers the inconvenience factor, but I will wait to see reply from them tomorrow before I'll be anywhere near happy with the outcome... at this point they've stolen money from me, and if anything the 'goodwill' email has pissed me off even more because it tells a bloody lie that things were 'sorted by 4pm'.

I mean it's a bloody dogs breakfast of a situation... I've never been treated this badly from a bloody illegal, on-course non- tote greyhound bookie, let alone an international gambling corporation. The whole situation has left me exasperated tbh... I will be exploring my options to blow my money elsewhere after this, final straw.  Anyway, will let you know how tomorrow goes.

  6. At 1800hrs today I received an email, a bonus bet was loaded as 'goodwill' ... I dont know if this was standard across all account holders affected or just for 'elite' customers,  or just for those that had a moan about it... one issue I have with the email is that it states 'the site was fully operational by 4pm' this is incorrect, I had issues around 6pm. I'm just sharing this info so TAB customers can compare notes, and to compare my experience with others.

  7. The TAB issues have cost me approx $200 today,  normally something like this might actually save me money, but unfortunately for me today it has been costly.

I emailed my elite services manager, he advised that once the I.T issues are sorted he'll 'correct my balance' but tbh I really doubt/don't see how things will be corrected because it got so messy... there's the things they can't correct which were the earlier bets I 'would've' got on but couldn't... but then of the ones where I have got evidence 'screenshots' it's allover the place... I had one instance of money taken, dosent show in pendings, bet was a winner and to the best of my knowledge looking at transaction history the stake wasn't even returned,  let alone the winning dividend (so basically stolen my money) and another instance of money taken, backed a winner and just stake returned....

In summary.... what a *ucken mess!! 🤬

Yep hear you, but it's getting tiring hearing the same excuses from those snapped with Meth. And Alpha Riley certainly romped to victory when found with Meth in blood. And Impressive Isla was visibly sore and hurting when running a long long last, the fact he gave it pain relief means he knew. And all the other Meth cases say it was by Association 🤔 ... don't buy it sorry. He has also been done before for mis treatment of dogs, and the photographic evidence was shocking. I feel for the honest and caring trainers who are going to lose their livelihoods.

Palliser has clearly fallen for the sensationalised reporting.

Alpha Riley didn't romp to victory with Meth in its blood, it tested positive while based in the CD. Newshub just chose to show Alpha Riley romping to victory, to ,like I said,  sensationalise the whole thing.  JT Mc's biggest crime at this point was allowing his Son Stephen (a known dropkick) to operate a kennels... this is evidenced as much by Alpha Rileys race record in the CD (under Stephens care) compared to his race record in South Island (under JT/team Mcinerney's care). This dogs race record actually ironically shows how healthy and well looked after he was in Canterbury (certainly compared to the dogs health/care in C.D).

As a non greyhound person can I ask a question ? Have the number of injuries and deaths increased with the introduction of sand tracks ? As a horseman I wouldn't race or even trial my horses on the new synthetics .

Or has there always been a high incidence of injuries and deaths in greyhound racing irrespective of the surface ? I know the sand tracks have been around a long time in your sport but maybe someone who has been around long enough can give me an answer .

I'm not trying to cause a shitfest argument just an honest question .

    Cheers .

Second that from RFS.. grass tracks = toe injuries particularly, the days of 'blown toes' , deciding whether you were stitching the toe, removing the toe, rubber banding the toe, much less of an issue today on sand tracks.

  10. When the Premier of NSW Mike Baird looked to ban Greyhound Racing there, it was political suicide, he lost his job and Greyhound Racing went strong.

I was hopeful that would buy us some time or at least make our politicians be 'careful' with it here... but sadly we don't have anything like the same level of public support for Greyhound Racing... or have it tied into our culture like Aus does... and the politicians obviously realise this as it was a very quick 'YES' from both of them. 😬 because that's all that matters, public opinion, virtue signalling... just like supermarkets didn't ban plastic bags until it was the 'popular' thing to do, not because they 'care about turtles'.

Politicians won't ban Greyhound Racing unless it's popular to do.. and sadly it is, and not because they care about the animals.

  11. Hope you're right Lad , however I just don't see the same widespread societal,  political and 'cultural' support and push back from the NZ public in support of Greyhound racing like the Aussies did..

Other interesting thing is the anti gambling angle that seems to be a target recently,  not just wastage and injuries but "gambling is so bad for society let's ban it". Covid showed alot of otherwise ignorant people the extent to which gambling makes the world go around...and they didn't like it..

  12. See attached link of MP Chloe Swarbricks Facebook..  updated just today saying that she is turning her attention to greyhound racing, she has a lot of profile/push, add that to the current left leaning/ cancel culture society we live in and the end is nigh.... 😬

  13. What are peoples thoughts on the NZ Cup this year? It struck me as a very ordinary field, all they can do is qualify and I'm sure connections will happily collect the 100k regardless, but just from a punter/racing fan point of view it just looks like another average Addington field, intermediate grade at that.

Happy to see Ripslinger Roxy make it thru, she's been wonderful to follow on the punt...always capable of running a place, be it C1 , NZ Oaks or NZ Cup. (Racer not a chaser)

  14. Those were the days! When people were racing for the sentimental value of certain trophies/ribbons and for the love of it as much as anything else.

Reminds me of a Trophy everyone wanted to win back in the day at the Manawatu track.. the Applejack boy cup. C2 middle distance if I remember rightly and I think the trophy was huge hence the reason people targeted it on the racing calendar, I'm sure the Cobain kennel would've won a few Applejack Boy's.

  15. I think you'll find Roso writes those comments these days (for CD) , he's been away on leave = no comments.

Clearly not Roso's fault, he's entitled to leave, but you're right Everton, it's poor and just shows 1 man goes on leave and the punters miss out on comments which really should be a core task/resource for the TAB to complete.

Also on similar subject.. no on course commentator, we knew we'd get to this point one day and it's a sad reminder of where we are in terms of our sport...well it's less a sport/hobbie these days and more of an industry , namely a gambling industry.

Confused... but there IS something on the website. A text was also sent out last night. Damn them though, they should have known within seconds on what to do! If only they were as perfect as half you lot on here.

For the record kizanan, there was no information available when I started this thread. Thanks to Shodsie for the reply. When I sat down yesterday to do the form I didn't know if we were going ahead or not and didn't want to waste time on an abandoned meeting.

Very unfortunate for the Craik team and the handful of others north of the Bombays, almost say its unfair to go on without them...but I suppose 'fairness' goes out the window at a time like this.

My thoughts and best wishes to everybody out there at this uncertain time.

  17. They went with the angle of 'Taxpayers money was spent on this' which was clever on their part aswell, and got me thinking.. this makes the sport much more accountable in terms of this 'social licence' thing we hear about, it engages the public much more on the issue and means they are far more likely to form an opinion.

I feel like we've gotten too big for our boots, stick your neck out it gets chopped off. What I mean by this is we've gone far too professional...all about pumping out gambling product...allowing certain greyhound trainers to become Millionaires!! We've strayed too far away from being the great amateur/hobby sport we once were ,which I feel would be much more palatable and sustainable in the eyes of 'society'.

Lots of us have been saying it for ages, how did we allow people to bred hundreds of dogs..??

How did we allow people to rape the game of millions of dollars??Should've kept it hobby guys, you'll all wish you had, got too greedy, got too big for your boots.

  18. Agreed BH, Pete's a legend.

    - Aqua Mouse's Silver Collar (feat. Astro Teddy) "Ohhhh god I dont know"...

    - Auck Cup... "How good are ya Denzil?"

    - or even some silly ones like when he made the noise of a squirell as Nutty Squirell was winning.

Pete's been on the airwaves my entire living memory and will be missed.

    Enjoy your retirement Mr Earley.
