  1. Yep certainly sounds to me to be more about the public not seeing a bunch of dogs ripping into a poor, defenseless sheepskin than it is about providing us with more replays. Bollocks is right, give it a few weeks and all it will do is allow trackside to pop over to the aus races even quicker.
  2. Huge news. Read it on stuff.co.nz this morning.
  3. Wow, thats an unusually small dog, would suggest that might have played a part in the typo with 31.9 much more common than 21.9. Not making excuses, its not good enough, just saying.
  4. Awesome O "box 1 is the worst draw at Addington" is potentially the stupidest thing ever said on this forum. I had a look at box stats, as kotare said not that we needed to, and it indeed confirms that box1 is statistically the BEST draw at Addington. You can argue about the track shape and if you miss the jump etc but the fact remains even the worst box1s in the country are statistically the BEST draw.
  5. Didnt it used to say B? T is a new thing.
  6. What does the assistant racing manager do to pass his day and earn his $$? I rung the office with a query a while ago and he didn't seem to know what day it was, I was told I'll get back to you. Eventually a helpful lady from the office got back to me and answered all my questions, ive since been told from my trainer if you want anything done its debbie or jay jay. The ones without the flash titles.
  7. Fantastic win from the aussie champ sweet it is! I just want to say well done to Arch and Gloria, not winning today will hurt for a little while but you guys should be so proud of another great silver collar campaign! It's taken the aussie raider to come over and beat you and you've played a huge part in the overall success of this silver collar series, with that head to head Nz vs aus feel that it had. I loved archs comment earlier in the week "ive got no problem with that aussie dog coming over, I'd just love to beat it." Gracious, humble man, keep up the excellent work you are doing and distance racing in this country will stay strong and you'll get your next collar in no time at all!
  8. Im in the camp that believe its a 2 dog race, not a 1 dog race.
  9. J Dunn will have some fun with that molly paisley litter. Hopefully a few of them can get a 500m trip.
  10. In this situation reopening the noms would possibly only lead to dogs being nomed that cant run the distance or would be scratched anyway.
  11. Have to agree with GOM and ashoka, in the eyes of grnz auck, wang and chch are the premier tracks in the country and the rest are 'feeder tracks'. The biggest casualty/waste of this attitude is Cambridge, in my opinion the best track in the country, providing some of the cleanest, safest racing and going to waste on Thursday afternoons. Also its a 1 turn track, the other 3 are similar which just amplifies the monotonous feel of greyhound racing when chch, wang and auck are promoted as our premier tracks.
  12. Perhaps those abysmally small feilds you speak of have had more far reaching consequences than some might have thought, I said at the time that the trainer in question was putting the future of distance racing in jeopardy. 1. The clubs would be nervous about getting scrathings after whats happened in the past and 2. The grnz would have more wiggle room on their KPI if it weren't for greedy, dodgy trainers being responsible for 3/4/5 dog feilds!
  13. I thought maramarua jack was a repeat offender, I thought it was 3 strikes and hes all done..? Obviously not. I haven't really looked into it that was just what I thought when I saw him today.
  14. Perhaps the logic is that if they strap them up enough it will help hold them together through the constant racing, i find following the mcinerney dogs, dogs you really rate can go into big form slumps and instead of giving the dog a spell they just keep racing until they come out the other side of the slump, it can be impossible to know when or if a dog will return to its best. There's been plenty of examples of their dogs going to c5 then free falling the grades then rediscovering form again.
  15. Whoknows I agree hes the main danger, BR seemed to be really one paced a few starts ago but he caught the eye last night, if RD had looked weak lastnyt id almost jump ship but RD went well too, most likely Quinella for mine.
  16. Matt Cross, he does do a good job for sure. Appears to be Trevors replacement in waiting. Although in saying that I believe he also does a great job on the horse racing so may even have bigger fish to fry than dog calling.
  17. And this is why its great to have a distance race carded (1 we know won't get ruined by skullduggery) because its generating interest and discussion something no other race on Wednesday will do. And for what its worth I agree with you reilly I think it is ritza dannys to lose, he'll have no problem slipping away from the 2and3 early and be very hard to beat.
  18. Great to see Cambridge dogs in prime time. Is definitely 1 of our premier tracks and is under utilized going to waste once a week during the day.
  19. Agree we need staying races in our game for sure! Just need more trainers involved because clubs will not continue to put these on with the current situation of 1 trainer scratching and fiddling feilds etc.
  20. Who did I say was a dodgy cheat jason?
  21. I haven't made any allegations. I simply said raceday vets take advice from trainers, ive seen it.
  22. That was a brave call 2 hours out from start time slim! I do however see ur point. Lets just hope the trainer in question does cut the crap, I thought he might as the pressure was coming on and the races were just not going to be put on if they kept it up.
  23. The difference is slim ahern dosent have a reputation for noming 8+ dogs for a race with no real intention of lining all the dogs up leaving a 4, 5 dog feild.
  24. Don't be a dick DC9, some mountain man (non greyhound person) turned up and stabbed someone. Said person is now locked up. Is great weekend up there! Highly recommend for any1 wanting to see 'real' grassroots racing. Wish I could be there this year.
  25. The 11 sprints thing is even worse than the derby scheduling for mine because it is big picture stuff, this is our product on a Friday night! Having a look at some historic programmes (10/20 years ago) I noticed that it averaged out at approx 60/40% middle vs sprints!! Now look!! Some radical changes are required! If only there were more of the likes of archie lawrence/gary cleeve in the game!
