Mike Hosking has been campaigning for the Nats for some time. Obviously miffed that he hasn’t got a gong! A moral for one in the New Years Honours.

Bemused that Christopher Luxon is touting himself as a champion for provincial NZ. When he was CEO for Air NZ he had no qualms about cutting seven provincial routes. He should get a parrot and teach it the phrase “party vote National”. Would save his voice for the rest of the election campaign.

Leggy perhaps someone who has a race book from Te Rapa today can advise us who were on the Adjudicative Commitee today. Penalty seems excessive in my opinion.

Leggy there were four stipendiary stewards at Te Rapa today- Messrs Jones (chair), Oatham, Dooley and Selvakumaran. Who comprised the adjudicative committee?

Te Aroha provide great jumping races. Hopefully they will race there next winter.

Only negative was Shaun Fanning being fined $4,000 for using his whip above the shoulders in the last part of the race. A manifestly severe sentence. Hope he appeals. A great ride on West Coast spoiled by over zealous stipendary stewards.

After reading the Stewards Report of the meeting I can only conclude that they only had eight swabbing canisters at the meeting I.e. one for each winner. Might be wrong. Surely they should have extra canisters available for such contingies and if they needed to swab a horse which raced below par.
