Did you back your trainers horse Te Poropiti in the last. Without the perfect trail and trip he wouldnt have squeaked in. I backed him early but wont be following the horse

Hi Tony. No I have had shares in horses with Graeme Richardson not Graeme Rogerson. I have a share in El Noir who won at Ruakaka last Saturday. She races in a similar race there Saturday week. Also got a share in Wey Too Cool who ran third at Matamata last start. Had a break after that. Back in work now. She is a half sister to Ocean Billy the 2021 Auckland Cup winner. Good punting. A tip- in 2yo races next season in NZ go for the Australian bred horses. They win proportionally more juvenile races than NZ bred ones.

Mercler track rider? I remember Laurie Cavanagh winning a race on her at Te Awamutu.

Hell no! I never race rode. Knew them all. I worked in Matamata from 1972 to 1974. Worked for Norm Crawford and Hori McGovern and helped Gary Bell break in quite a few horses. I then moved back to Tauranga and rode trackwork for 15 years and trained a few pacers. I got back into racing two years ago and have shares in five young horses with Graham Richardson. The only one to race so far is Mistrahma who won the Maiden 2000m at Matamata last Sunday. Graham is going to run her at Ellerslie on March 5 and then hopefully the Oaks at Trentham if she makes the field. My name is Jim Flay. Only guessing but are you Bryce Waters?!

Mer'cler was at times very hard to ride in trackwork. The key was to ride her on a long rein and let her drop her head. I never had any trouble on her.If you moved your hands even slightly on her she could take her hook and bolt. This happened to Harry White about a fortnight before the 1976 Melbourne Cup. Jim Gibbs mainly worked her off a lead when he took her over.

Hi Blue Waters. Gary Edge rode her mainly. I don't think Laurie ever rode her. She didn't ever start in a highweight. Clive Balfour trained her in Tauranga. When her lease ran out her breeder Ted Wallace sent her to Jim Gibbs. Laurie was apprenticed to him so he may have ridden her in a race or two when she had a lot of weight.
