Watch  V E 's  maiden win at Ruakaka    as  I weep  and applaud her .
She changed my life and so many other  believers with her often arrogant heads up style. Erratic head carriage.
She had 3 great trainers. In Australasia
    Nick B,  D W  and Waller.
Many horse lovers are perplexed about the sad decisions  her new ownership  made. Bastards.
Waller knew she had had enough and deserved a non European campaign. The Paddock with Snitzell. maybe.
Her Northen Hemisphere performances were embarrassing.
Lets remember her as one of our greatest NZ bred mares.
    Here is her Maiden win.

Cooper Darryn was very lucky. The kick partly severed an artery in his thigh. Quick action by the course vet (whipped off his tie and applied it as a tourniquet to stem the bleeding) was crucial. He was taken to Hutt Hospital and the cut to the artery was successfully treated. Thankfully Darryn is recovering well.

What an amazing gesture by. Brendon  and Jo Lindsay to donate all their prize money from the Avondale Cup to the Cyclone Relief fund. ($68,000) Also Roger James for all his good work setting up a Relief fund to help racing fraternity who have been affected by this disaster. It seems several studs, and other racing connections have also come on board to help out. Let’s all get behind them and help out where we can, it’s just so sad.

Caroline reacted to Breeder in Sir Patrick Hogan RIP
Really interesting reading the messages in social media, sent by many, about Sir Patrick. One thing that stands out to me is the massive amount of mentoring he did with young people/staff. The two key points were his setting very high standards and the gaining of respect (ie. how they all called him The Boss). That respect seemed to go both ways with those that worked hard, listened and achieved his standards.
These are probably considered "old fashioned" to many these days but I think where they have been lost it shows up like a massive spotlight.

Sad passing of an incredibly remarkable lady who contributed much to the wider Sport of Kings & Queens, that of Horse Racing, and Grey hounds .

Not only did she own, breed and ride horses, she also has been the glue to the wider side of the industry, the fashion & flowers & history of great race names & sponsors & places where Racing was.

May we all take a moment to reflect on her life, and do our best to restore Racing back in local communities where it used to be for the betterment of Society, health & well being.

Rest in Peace and thoughts are with the Family.

#1...Just because you are in a team called The Terminators doesn't mean you are going to win
#2...When someone on your team has a lucky number ( #7) and that is their only pick all day doesn't mean you are going to win
#3...When other teams are bombing pieces of trifectas and First 4's you are not going to win
#4...When you are a place bettor like Cubes you are not going to win
#5...Great day and great catch up with Col and Hutch amongst others
#6...When you are placed second in a field of 36 going into the last does not mean you are going to podium
#7...Cubemeister reckons he enjoys the day even more than NZ cup day
    #8...Apparently in a treble 1st , 2nd , 1st doesn't pay out
#9...Great fodder for the punters....best ham in the the South Island for us that are tragic
#10...2 year old racing is enjoyable but Cubes never seems to find a winner
#11...Staff @ Riccarton are consistently professional and friendly
#12...Acoustics average but improved flat screens
#13...Cubes had a really good time and reckons will be back next year
#14...Tactics are important.......someone fancied a runner in first and he missed out and had all his tin on it but Cubes kind of admires his all in style.....go large or go home
    #15...Cubes has a hangover

    Scares me as well.
As a small player who does do things on a low cost model because I do everything but ride them myself I guess I'd be gone. I keep costs down a bit because I crush own oats and cut my own chaff, all to make it affordable to some owners who would have no chance of affording a horse in a bigger stable.
I'd say 95 percent of the people I have got involved in ownership through syndicates would not be involved at all if I hadn't have chased them, cricket and rugby mates  etc,   yeah some are only small percent owners but from these guys who knows who might win lotto or have a wealthy uncle leave them money and want to get involved in a bigger way in the future.
Our industry is losing people by the day, closing racing in regions like East Coast ect those areas will be lost forever and no one will be following racing in five years in those regions the last thing we need is to be  doing is killing off trainers who  are still getting new people involved.

Yes what a tragic day at Ellerslie. with   Gold Watch being euthanised and Danielle Johnston breaking her leg, must admit I shed a tear or two thinking of poor Cliff Goss. He will miss his old friend. And then to make matters worse TV1 Soorts showed the replay of the whole thing tonight. How insensitive can they be. They hardly every give a racing any space but then to show that is absolutely disgusting.. Trackside never replayed it again and we’re very compassionate about the incident.

Firstly I've got to declare a conflict of interest and a bias in respect of this post...I part own Bermadez
I am absolutely and thoroughly sick and tired of the pathetically useless management of the racing presentation in this country on Trackside. How many times has there been a major racing event, having just been completed, when the essence of the race, the celebrations and aftermath, is ruthlessly chopped off due to some sort of non descript event being displayed? Bermadez won in a thrilling finish yesterday (a Rating 80 race worth $500,000!!!). He is NZ owned, NZ bred (by Tavistock), trained by an NZer, and before he had a chance to sneeze after the finishing line, the image cut to Musselborough dogs or some such $250 feature. At the very minimum have they not heard of in frame presentations?
Why can't these people running trackside get it? Why can't they see that the celebration of a win is the shop front window to enticing people to become passionately involved in the future? Can't they see that if they get people passionately involved, then those people will become more people who bet more money?
I simply don't understand the mind numbingly unintelligent approach to this when the counter argument seems to be unequivocally compelling..

Caroline reacted to Littletramp in Pedigree of Verry Elleegant - Is it that easy?
Just threw up a screen of her pedigree.  Looks just what all the line-breeding textbooks told us to do. If this is what the breeders found to convince them to do that mating, it worked in spades and congratulations to them. You have bred a champion.
The legacy of Eight Carat is truly epic if you are a believer.
