  1. We need some new blood there's a lot of "deadwood" out there in the commentator's and particularly the "Presenter's" ranks. And that's been bloody kind to some of them. They're a bloody embarrassment to "Racing" some of them. Wouldn't be Presenter's you know what.
  2. Well "MrBigStuff" of course you're entitled to your opinion of course, but if you've been in a decent TAB lately you'll have found there's far more talk between patrons about the quality of Presenters on Trackside than the actual racing itself. Sure people are entitled to express there opinion even if it isn't what some people want to hear. There well be several others sharing a similar point of view. Although George Simon is a very good Presenter I do feel there is an "overkill" factor coming into play with the "OhNo" not him again syndrome.
  3. For all those punter's out there in "Tracksideland" who don't necessarily like "Big Ear's" (his words not mine) Steve Davis, who do you prefer? If you like Stevie then who don't you like, or who didn't you like and are glad they're not on Trackside any more. They might even be on Radio Trackside, there's one or two I switch off now as soon as I hear their dulcet overtones. And where would you put the much maligned Donna Beck (now there's a blast from the past) and the Evergreen Ron Snowden. And finally has there ever been a more popular Presenter on Radio or TV than the original "Silver Fox" Des Cpppins? What do you reckon Punters?.
  4. The facilities at Hawera are probably only a disgrace because they've been run down with New Plymouth hosting most of the Racing in the Taranaki. In "former" years the Hawera club were well managed and did the job admirably.
  5. I say bring back Brian (Martin)too. I'll even go so far to say his replacement/s wouldn't blow smoke up his you know what. We have redemption for Michael Guerin because our Harness Ranks were "thin" and the same goes for our Greyhound callers/presenters. I don't see Steve Davis's drafting in on a Monday as a viable alternative at all. Sorry Steve "gimmicks" don't cut it.
  6. I don't like to knock presenter's but the person who called presumably Mark Cookson "as passionate as a rock" might have a valid point. But he's certainly not the worst by a long shot.
  7. $2.20 for a place six? Were they all T Wilk's "BETS OF THE DAY"?
  8. That Opunake Meeting used to be always held at Hawera and has been a good meeting for years. It sure helps to have a major Sponsor on board for the Feature Race. But I'm afraid I wouldn't rate Taranaki as one of the better CD club's going around, there's usually too much hype and not enough substance to their program. And it is about the horses, not gimmicks right I'm sure the meeting would have been as successful, maybe even so if it raced back at Hawera.
  9. Give Steve a break he's not that bad is he? Poor guy seems to be getting it the neck from disgruntled punters all the time. Why don't you pick on someone else for a change.
