  1. Trying to gain any type of control or explanation from  HRNZ is impossible. Some informed members have tried to hold the ATC Board accountable for their many misconceived actions over the last 8 years and have got absolutely no where. Good luck trying the same on a national organisation who are basically the ultimate public servant prototype, answerable to no one.

As for McAnulty he has bigger fish to fry - like an election loss in 10 months where he will lose his seat and will only get his nose  back in the trough via the list.

  2. I've attended every ATC AGM or SGM over the last 25 years, bar one. The Board was continually questioned about ongoing issues but those asking questions got nowhere because the Board  controlled the meetings. Most awkward questions couldn't be answered due to confidentially ! The Board had a smart arse lawyer who was on and off the Board more times than Jacinda tells lies. Then when we got to vote on important issues the Board won due to the number of "" sheep " among the members. They believed what was said from the " palpert of truth ".

  3. Seems that the current vice president and CEO, Rod Croon is leaving for Australia post haste. Anyone can guess at the reason for this - to start a new life or leaving a shipping ship. Who knows? The new vice president is apparently Robert Dunn. A good trainer but that's it !

Once again this info is in general circulation before the members were informed. They still haven't been told.

The Hall of Fame situation has deteriorated with the ATC serving an eviction notice yesterday. This I believe will be fought.

Finally a ginger group of ATC members has apparently forwarded vast information to the Serious Fraud Office about the ATC and Franklin Park covering the last 7 years. I have not yet independently confirmed this however.

  4. Historian, how should the Hall of Fame be run if Gilbert is doing such a bad job? Many  hours are spent on maintaining the assets, all unpaid hours,  unlike the over paid  muppets running the ATC into the ground. I also feel that the gross overall loss on the buildings is about $150 million not $108 or $126 million as sometimes quoted.

As for moving the Hall of Fame to Addington, didn't HRNZ just have to bail them out to the tune of $1 million after Cup week !

  5. Club not happy with either of Barry Lichter's postings,  probably because they gave us facts. If there's one thing we've learned about the current ATC Board is that they like to treat everybody, including members, the public and HRNZ as mushrooms.

Apparently the Clubs lawyer, ( and that's bullshit as he works for the Board and not the members), gave Lichter 30 minutes to pull down his posts. I assume that happened after the second one. I would think that pressure was put on Lichter's boss to pull the posts down.

  6. Meeting went as expected. The sale of Pukekohe was inevitable - the club sells today or the banks sell tomorrow.

Unfortunately the majority of the meeting was chaired by a slippery lawyer who is not a Board member.

Robert Dunn, although a nice guy, came across as a bit of a snake oil salesman. Perhaps due to his training background?

Fortunately we are the wealthiest trotting club  in the country !  You wouldn't think so after just admitting too a loss of $150 million on the buildings and having to sell all the family jewels.

  7. Pukekohe will go as the directors will convince the sheepish members to support the sale because of pressure from the banks. Clearly the banks are applying pressure as surely any one of us would when you consider the calibre of the muppets running the Club. The good news is that there is a growing uprising developing in Pukekohe about the original deal with the ATC and promises not kept about redevelopment. A well funded action is likely against ATC directors, current and past. That'll make most people smile as it's about time.

  8. Members can never get factual info from the club, that's why there has never been an inquiry. They spin it all. A bit like our government in Wellington.

The Board formed a sub committee of 3 members, with real estate experience, to co-ordinate the sale of the Greenlane Road property. One did not agree with the other two (who are wrong in their views), so he was dumped from the sub committee for the next project, the sale of Pukekohe. Two others were added, neither with much knowledge of the real estate game. The question which must be asked - did the Board only want "yes" men ?

  9. Applying  rudimentary accounting principles as the ATC does, if you gross $51 million from Greenlane Road and $100 from Pukekohe, pay back the banks $125-130  million that may leave a gross figure of $20 million. That won't go far in rural south auckland especially if they pay staff substantial bonuses as they did last year. As another observation where is the deposit for the Greenlane Road sale ? It's not shown in the accounts and if held by a lawyer it's not mentioned in the notes to the accounts ?

  10. Having just studied the year end accounts of the ATC I can't help but wonder as to how they continue to pay better stakes than Addington. They are in serious shit. Further, stake increases of at least $500,000 were announced last week for the period ending July 2023. These stake increases are coming from future forecasted surpluses. They owe more than $100 million and counting. They must live in the Mickey Mouse world of Grant Robertson. God help us !
