  1. Cory, I can see where you are coming from in a way, for example should all the Opawa dogs that make up the basis of your parents operation be added to the Opawa total or the Steele operation. Because in most instances the originator still has a financial interest in those dogs they should be added to their totals. If you look at it from that angle I am sure you will be able to work out whom Em is referring to.
  2. There is no need to reward mediocrity
  3. I have heard that many stories about what Is happening, what is about to happen and what should happen that my head is spinning. FFS wouldn't you think there would be a clear directive put out to all participants during these uncertain times. I heard the other day that they were set to start racing again within a week but to keep it quiet. KEEP IT QUIET!!!! if in fact it is correct it should be shouted from the rooftops. Kizanan, no, people should not have ring the clubs or grnz they should be kept up to date to the minute, they are the people that need to be first to know as they are the ones that are going to supply the product, and for your information my wife who is the secretary of a club and has been fielding questions as above, rang the association and the the only person she could contact told her he had just become unemployed and suggested she contact Glenda Hughes FFS, so a lot of good a phonecall there, is going to do Really this fiasco just reinforces the hopelessness members feel about the whole organisation
  4. Well thought out and written Ray and I agree with nearly all of it. Is there an age limit on being accepted back into the administration to the sport? You are just what we need again. Mike Martin
  5. Em, Cambridge Jockey club have a new all weather track nearly complete 20 odd million cost. Do you think this was the venue originally touted for the tri code venue.(see tb thread) If it is was what a crying shame. It would have been a winner for all .
  6. Thanks for that Em, Quite frightening but puts emphasis on how we have to look at the future here.
  7. Well said Em, nature will always have it's way
  8. I wonder if the average participant realizes how dire the circumstances are for all racing in NZ right now
  9. After being swamped with races every minute on the TV since the shutdown it appears to me that there is more leniency being shown to Jocks in Aus now with whip use. Some terrible displays.
  10. Yes, I think that win would have to rate as the best effort I have seen from a racehorse. Veandercross came close in one of his wins but if you take a look at Might and Power at that stage he was beyond compare. In the cup he came back to them quite quickly half way down and every one had their chance to get him from then on. A true champion .

    Jape

Very good effort by you in the GG's picking competition yesterday, slow start and very consistent thereafter
  12. The Melbourne cup win for me

    Stakes cut

Come on fella's be fair, remember there was a huge salary bill at HQ to maintain without any income while we have been in shutdown, the phlebs can put up with a bit more sacrifice for our hard working masters.
  14. No fan but got to give Cindy some credit as the only woman in history to stop all sport, close all bars and make men stay at home
  15. I know where you are coming from I know but surely if the dogs were able to start up again it would include the necessary people.
  16. Pickel it would depend on what the lures had been up to during the shutdown. If they had stayed in their bobble as they were supposed to and just hibernated for the whole time they should be refreshed but if they were out partying the whole time or mountain biking they should hand in their resignation. If on the other hand you are talking about the lure driver, our one should be refreshed as I haven't seen him poke his head out of his bubble yet. mind you he has a new wife so there is no guarantee there either.
  17. Unbelievable, full; book of sprint races for each meeting for a startup. What this actually saying is we do not think you are capable of knowing how to prepare your dogs so we will do it for you. What about trainers will need trial days to ready their dogs for racing. A lot of trainers are capable of readying their dogs for all distances without leaving home. I realise there are some are incapable of that for one reason or other but the majority of trainers can. Many dogs (middle distance) are immediately excluded which is neither fair or necessary . This scream's that we have given in to mediocrity, the rest of the world are trying to increase the distance for the average race. Surely trainers should be expected and trusted to make these decisions.
  18. If the association has put or considered protocols for the resumption of racing when it finally does start ? I would expect there will be some contact with the great unwashed to see where they stand and give them some kind of goal so they can ready their hounds for startup
  19. I would have believed it if it had added that a ute was to be driven at a safe distance from the field with the ute owners wife sitting in the back dangling a carrot from a stick and string
  20. Gruff are you sure about your first line statement that you cannot get lifelong immunity with vaccinations. If that was the case surely they would be revaccinating after a certain period , as this does not happen you would imagine that polio would reappear if what you say is correct. Gruff are you for or against vaccinations/ I think I already KNOW the answer but just wanted confirmation
  21. And in the meantime business carries on for a few. Drug den with a que and some wearing masks to protect themselves ??????, Kids running everywhere between them. No jobs, no income but still plenty for P. very sad.
  22. To be fair BM that photo would have been taken before the lockdown so social distancing was not asked for. I think we would have had to seen the context of what was happening when the photo was taken before deciding who needs a punch? Still reckon it's the worst dias shot I have seen , the only positive is how Mike has managed to hold his tummy in and chest out just at the right time

    Caliente

Jape, you had a Caliente in your domain, bitch by Farloe Melody from Froth trained by Dereck Copeland. Good race dog and left a few group winners from several litters she had down there. I am sure you must have called her in the placings many times. By the way it was not my memory that discovered this. Brian rang and said he thought Dereck had raced a dog called Caliente at the same stage he raced Individualist down there.
  24. Once again if the representative to the board is running around asking these question of a few why have the rest of us been kept in the dark. Every person concerned has to be kept up to date firstly so they can plan for the future and secondly to stop the impending doom cloud settling over the participants The way I see it is if either track finishes that will be it for the North . Signals have been out for ages but both clubs either have pulled the blinkers down or are completely bereft of any idea's of how to right the ship that is starting to founder. The latter seems the most likely to me. I feel sorry for the young trainers brave enough to give it a go
