  1. All these FREE media have GROWN since 2014 ....Racing has declined... Sky has been a disaster for Racing... Posted June 17 2014.docx
  2. 2 Maiden - R50 Nothing has changed since my post back in June 2014 ......except that the user numbers for Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube & Twitter have all increased substantially. On principle I will not subscribe to SKY.....why would I when I get Lightbox FREE and other entertainment site too. Why would I pay to watch racing on SKY........do they charge people an entry fee to get into a Casino to gamble?.......duh? I was recently in Melbourne and loved the day I spent sitting on the couch at my daughters house watching racing FREE...no subscription required! Report post Posted June 17, 2014 Terminating Trackside on Freeview goes against all recent trends in media. I can only assume that the wiz kids in Petone have developed a unique new business model that will somehow increase the popularity of racing and increase the number of users (punters) by restricting audience access and putting racing behind a "pay wall" (SKY)? The total focus of these new media success stories is FREE access to users... Google - more than 6 billion searches per day - FREE Facebook - more than a billion users - FREE Whatsapp messaging service - more than a billion users - FREE YouTube - more than a billion users - FREE Twitter - hundreds of millions of users - FREE What do you think would happen to their user numbers if they suddenly announced users would have to start paying a monthly fee for access? Someone in Petone must know something that Google, Facebook, YouTube etc. do not know and has decided to try and turn back time and bet against the trend? Good luck with that.
