  1. Sorry Hound Fan, If it's adjusted after the official exam at/near the kennel during race preparation, then yes it is indeed tampering. Otherwise how could the official be ensured that the muzzle/rug is place on the greyhound securely, if it's not the same as when it was inspected? 71.1 A Greyhound shall be retrieved from its allotted kennel by the Handler under the supervision of a person authorised by the Stewards at the time as displayed in the kennels, so as to allow: g. The examination by an Official to ensure that the Muzzle and the Appropriate Race Rug have been placed on the Greyhound securely so as to prevent its dislodgment during the running of the Race. What official do you suppose examined and passed the #5's race rug in this configuration? I suggest the "interested" party should be thankful I've chosen to take this approach. I didn't have to.
  2. It's been going on a lot longer that I thought it had. In hindsight, I probably should have taken it straight to the RIU instead firing a RaceCafe warning shot, but haven't as of yet. This completes my one off warning. It had better magically cease, or I will use another option to see that it gets ceased & likely become costly for the "interested" party/parties.
  3. At the Addington meet last Tuesday (22/03), during race #3, the live video showed a view from behind the traps just prior to boxing which clearly showed a handler deliberately sliding the rug on their charge forward. Below is a photo just after they jumped. 87.1 Any person (including an Official) commits an offence if he/she: z. tampers with any rug, Muzzle or other item used on a Greyhound, or uses any substance or item to affect the performance of a Greyhound or Greyhounds; Prior to seeing this instance, I remembered I had seen a few dogs going around Addington recently with their rugs out of place. After a brief investigation, I easily located 2 other similar occasions, both from the same kennel. I'm not sure what the reason for this "adjustment" is being made for, but I believe it is in breach of rule 87.1.z. It should stop now, aye?
  4. I think you need to look at the rule book again. The Lois Henley Memorial is an invitational race, which the the field is selected solely at the clubs discretion. 51.4 INVITATION RACE – This is a Race which provides for a Club to invite any Greyhound graded at C1 and above to compete. All classes have equal rights for inclusion. Invitation Races are penalty free. Therefore, the club can choose any greyhound, graded C1 or higher, that they wish to fill the field. That could be done in countless ways, if they so choose. Dogs only Bitches only Brindle only Only greyhounds that wear blinkers Only greyhounds with an apostrophe in their name Only greyhounds that have returned a positive swab at some time in their career. Only greyhounds who's trainers last name starts with the same letter as the selectors last name. So on..... For just a bit of history, the selection process which was used this year did not utilise normal club selection criteria. https://www.thedogs.co.nz/catch-the-action/12077/result-detail.aspx The grading for the entrants was as follows. #1 C5 #2 C5 #3 C4 #4 C5 #5 C5 #6 C4 #7 C5 #8 C5 Reserves (Let's Go Lettie) C4 (Rock Lass) C5 Therefore, Rock Lass had a higher grade than both the #3 & #6 at the time nominations closed and was not selected. With that, it means it's time for you to learn a new understanding, if you want to be accurate, of how the Lois Henley Memorial "has and i understand will always be selected on club criteria".
  5. It got my attention too, seeing it in the field. I must admit it cost me $1/$4 in the FF market, as I figured it must have been trialing sub 25 seconds, or something crazy like that, to receive such a prestigious invitation. I had also thought the club generally made ethical choices, unlike a different north island club seems to always be making. Maybe the said dog just had a bad day. Not to worry, more than made up for it in the next race by backing both of the outside two dogs for a win & a place at very nice odds.. At least my far more expensive theory worked out very well in the end.
  6. If the electronic switching mechanism fails to work at every other track, the dogs are removed through the rear door & vet checked, as it is a welfare issue. Why is this general procedure not being followed by the SGRC? I suggest ringing Greg could be a better option than ringing the club. However, I probably don't need to, as I'm pretty sure posts on Racecafe are monitored by someone within GRNZ. He'll likely be getting a gentle elbow from that someone when this post is viewed.
  7. If so, then they must of had written permission from the band. 124.1 When application is made to name a Greyhound full regard shall be paid to the criteria contained in the following: The name is not a trade name (unless accompanied with evidence from the company approving the name);
  8. Ringing the club would accomplish what? Obviously from your post you're well aware of the problem. Obviously it's been a problem for two months or more (I can post screenshots from the meets if you'd like). Apparently (as well proven on another thread) your photo finish technology is from the 20th century, outdated & inadequate. http://www.racecafe.co.nz/forums/index.php?/topic/47671-you-can-be-the-judge/ I'm not asking for the world here. I'm just asking for a fair go with my punts. Is that to much to ask for, or would it be prefered that I stop supporting the club by placing wagers on races held there?
  9. Does it matter where they came from? They didn't have to accept the gift if they didn't want them! Even if they're not working, they are still better than the ones they replaced. Is a special envoy (sparky) required to come down from Cambridge to fix a electronic switching mechanism? I don't have to wait in the garage so when my wife comes home to be at the ready to lift the door for her, if the electronic switching mechanism doesn't lift the door automatically when she pushes the button on the remote. That would throw her timing all off and slow her down!
  10. Thanks for that Awesome-O. That's an interesting maneuver by either the club? or Steward? instead of actually fixing the underlying problem. Obviously the starters reaction time isn't quick enough (nor would some superhero's be) to manually pull the lever when the automatic mechanism fails to operate, TO KEEP THE LURE WITHIN THE CLEARLY DEFINED DISTANCES in the GRNZ RULE BOOK. Well the #8 wire mentality has caught them out on more than one occasion now, but instead of doing the right thing, the Stewards somehow in their greater wisdom, believed a variance in distance of roughly 5 times the legal limit was warranted because no Greyhound had been substantially inconvenienced. "However, the Steward(s) may permit a variance to such distance if he/she/they is/are satisfied that as a consequence of such variance no Greyhound has been substantially inconvenienced in running so as to affect the outcome of the Race." I wonder if the police would give me the same 5x allowance, after being on way to much piss, on my drive home from Ascot. What is happening down there is a complete joke. No one seems to have the balls to do anything about it, not even those who are paid (Stewards) to do something about it. The SGRC can't seem to offer a fair start or a fair finish, but since the dogs are going in the correct direction (at least up until now) around the track, that's good enough.
  11. Race #1 Race #2 Race #3 Race #5 Race #6 Race #8 Race #9 Race #11 Race #12 - note the lure on the far left & boxes still closed.
  12. Not if he wants to learn much of anything about Greyhound racing. Maybe she'll bring along a paper copy of the defaulters list for the two of them to go over. Could it be that caps & beanies are becoming limited on supply & the PNGRC is the closest place to secure the new CEO a welcoming gift?
  13. All 390m races at Ascot have been hand starts for more than 2 months now as I recall. The boxes have only been there for roughly two years as well. Greyhound racing is suppose to be a professional sport. Real money is wagered on every race with the expectation of a fair go. Race 12 did not offer a fair go to the punters & the Steward severely let everyone down by not enforcing integrity by declaring a no-race. Maybe he was far to worried about deciding who he was going to declare as the winner if there was only a nose in the finish & the inadequate photo finish technology on course let the judge down, instead of watching the start. I'm pretty sure a replay is available to the Stewards almost instantly after a race has been run, but judging by the start of the races (long lure & hand starts) & finishes of the race (photo finish camera), maybe a replay isn't available at the Ascot venue either. 75.1 The Lure shall be controlled so as to be positioned at all times during the running of a Race at a distance of not less than 5 metres and no greater than 8 metres ahead of the leading Greyhound. However, the Steward(s) may permit a variance to such distance if he/she/they is/are satisfied that as a consequence of such variance no Greyhound has been substantially inconvenienced in running so as to affect the outcome of the Race. Was the lure 8 meters or less in front of the greyhounds when the boxes first started to open? Was the lure 8 meters or less in front of the leading greyhound when it was 1 meter from the boxes? I think not.
  14. I've edited my original post Aquaman to reflect that race.
  15. It's time to fix the 390 boxes SGRC. Race #1 Race #12
  16. Happy birthday to young Max. I've had the chance on a few different occasions to have a yawn with him and enjoyed each & every one of them. My favorite story, that he had fairly recently shared with me, was about Very Chilly's antics when finishing on the lure at Tokoroa earlier in his career. I won't spoil the story by sharing it on an internet forum, however next time you see Max just ask him about VC. His face will surely light up as much as it did when he told me about him.
  17. Why yes.. it appears that they did... I think... but maybe not? Originally when the report was posted it claimed only 1 post race & 1 pre race. Yet another example of a Stewards report mysteriously changing what is suppose to be factual data.
  18. https://www.thedogs.co.nz/catch-the-action/12067/stewards-report.aspx One swab post race & one pre race, interesting. Maybe hair collection has started already?
  19. Apples - http://exportermagazine.co.nz/category/news-tags/nz-apple-exports Apples - http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/135675/apple-exports-to-australia-still-small-part-of-market Apples.... tick Embargo - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embargo "An embargo (from the Spanish embargo, meaning hindrance, obstruction, etc. in a general sense, a trading ban in trade terminology and literally "distraint" in juridic parlance) is the partial or complete prohibition of commerce and trade with a particular country or a group of countries." A trade restriction (embargo) was enforced on greyhounds held by trainers under investigation for live baiting about a year ago. Embargo... tick Massive court costs.. GRNZ enforced an embargo as above. Please provide evidence as to "massive court costs" due to the aforementioned embargo to quantify your statement. (doubt you can) Massive court costs... tick
  20. You're right, GRNZ can't stop me from bringing in a greyhound. I'm no longer bound by their rules. An LP however could be & potentially was stopped if they intended bring one in from the said Australian trainers a while back. My facts are right. Apples to Australia... tick Embargo... tick Massive court costs.. tick Next?
  21. Who's making the silly statements? With a free trade agreement in place, why doesn't Australia import NZ Apples? Didn't GRNZ enforce an embargo on the importation of greyhounds immediately after the live baiting scandal was exposed in Australia? I didn't hear about any "massive court costs" stemming from that action.
  22. Well it seems that not many are for the C1 sprinters, so lets have a look at the statistics from last week (06/03 to 11/03), where they're being held by region & in total. (C1/C2 sprints were considered to be C2 races). North 4 - (06/03 - 1, 10/03 - 3) - 16.7% of all races. CD 12 - (07/03 - 3, 09/03 - 7, 11/03 - 2) - 30% of all races South 5 - (08/03 - 3, 10/03 - 0, 11/03 - 2) - 13.5% of all races In Total - 21 C1 sprint races held - 101 races in total - 20.8% of races held were C1 sprints. .
  23. At first I was going to differ with you Jason, but after a bit of research you may have a valid point. They are two different words, with different meanings, only subtle differences in pronunciation, & very similar phonetically. 124.1 When application is made to name a Greyhound full regard shall be paid to the criteria contained in the following: d. The name is not similar phonetically to one already granted; Clair - Generally a given female name. - http://static.sfdict.com/staticrep/dictaudio/C05/C0520500.mp3 Clear - Free from obscurity - http://static.sfdict.com/staticrep/dictaudio/C05/C0540900.mp3 .
  24. It appears Ancient Egyptians started importing Greyhounds circa 2000bc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_breed "Archaeology has revealed dog remains of various sizes but there does not appear to have been distinctive breeds until 3,000-4,000 years ago when greyhound-type dogs were depicted on pottery and paintings in Egypt and Western Asia."
