  1. Elite state or one of his sons... Either would be good for NZ racing
  2. There are so many stud dogs in Oz that are not being used. I always look for a fast one turn dog. In saying that i have only bred three litters
  3. Did notice that apart from Big Jamesy the dogs from the Freeman kennels never jumped as good as they have been. the Traveling and heat affected them ?
  4. Thinking about flying in for the final myself. Depends on who makes the final of the Railway !!!!!
  5. Now that the $500 import tax is in place, would it be considered that if a stud dog was imported to NZ that you would get a return on your money. Being that to import semen itself is expensive! Any thoughts ?
  6. Big Jamesy is a query. In AUS he has been racing and winning on the lower class Tab C tracks. He has been running BOD times, however sometimes when a dog Is pressured early they lose their stride. Still looks to be an interesting runner
  7. I like Wild Punting @ 12's. He has made the past couple of sprint finals and won it last year. An honest an consistent sprinter trained well.
  8. Mike, Unfortunately the top middle distance dogs in NZ would struggle in Oz. Past history will reinforce this. Although you would think of the quality of dog currently in NZ this may change in the future Not knowing whether you breed or buy and your successes, my point being is that I am certain that nobody breeds with the intention of getting 300 m dogs. We all breed for middle distance or stayers(or should) however if you are dealt sprinters why should you be disadvantaged by not having the chance to have the best sprinter and a chance for a group winner ? Breeding and rearing is an expensive exercise. My final sentence held no ambiguity other then it was open ended allowing further comment stating the facts that money talks and as a spectacle I have nothing against sprint or staying races. Either type of animal are true athletes.
  9. Mike, The money for 'good' 500m dogs is in Australia. They run for $3-5k weekly at Wenty Park in low grades. However, the sprinters are lucky to get $1100 a win and are soon out graded, hence their departure to NZ where they race for longer, over shorter distances and for equivalent if not better money. The joy is in ownership be that a sprinter/stayer and no one can begrudge any one that. Hey, We all hope for a good middle distance dog ". Big money races bring the best to race the best.
  10. And a guarded draw for Australian dogs !!!, Think we have drifted from the original conversation here!
  11. Thrilling Brat is basically an Australian bred dog. Check out the breeding. clone your Own agree being a kiwi breed. But hound Fan your right we have made it in Oz we should start sending them dogs.... Not. So when are we raiding next ???
  12. Gary1, You know the answer. Kiwi bred dogs are years behind the australian breeding scene. Not part of the discussion up until now.
  13. NZ is no different to Oz. Oz would have the same percentage of sprints, 500's and lack numbers to hold staying races. So what you want is 3-4 dog fields of stayers ?? Most owners/trainers are to impatient to have stayers. Everyone wants a quick return on their investment. Buy a stayer a see how you go !
  14. Gary I think Freeman has a couple: Need to Chill would hold his own. Very smart Wild Punting ( think he still holds 1st section record at the gardens) Marcie Flipps Follow Fame looks a good type. mate there is a quick 3 to start with !
