  2. One i am going to watch for sure is Mongolian Khan a great looking Stallion will be interesting
  3. Well Sargent really rates Gust of Wind first mare home in Melbourne Cup I think for 5th
  4. I think alot comes down to two and three year old sires like you Per incanto you mentioned they are the hot property at the moment it just goes in cycles i believe . Personally i like a sire that im prepared to wait for the offspring to mature and like horses that can go over ground
  5. Well ill throw a few figures at you regarding Darci Brahma 383 progeny to race 267 winners (69%) earnings over 26 million 28 stakes winners 27 stakes placegetters Champion sire Singapore 2012, 2013 , 2015 Second on NZ sire list 2013-14, 2014-15 and is the same this season Horses Julinsky Prince $580 k , Nashville 795k NZ 500 K AU , Recite 230 k NZ , 160 K AU , Gust of Wind 970 k AU , Rasa Lila 230 K , Darci Be Good 640k AU , Super Easy 2.1 mill S , Risque Mission 330 K AU Not super top echelon but pretty dam good
  6. Breeding season is rapidly closing in and breeders will be making decisions on where to send the broodmares My question is who do you think is value for money as a stallion you can look at it two ways 1) As a breeder for re-sale 2) As a breeder who is going to race the horse I will start with my opinion and i'm biased as i have shares in three from the boy and that is Darci brahma at 15k stud fee just a fantastic provider of consistent horses maybe not 2YO but as they get older they start showing something and as the great man says "Patience is the cheapest thing in racing and the least used" BART CUMMINGS
  7. Thanks for that Midget respect your opinion and its not personal
  8. Just my opinion Midget its not personal as i stated but i dont put them up there with the other groups as i said in my opinion
  9. Scooby i'm not being personal here but Logan/Gibbs are not in the class of the Baker/Forsman, Pikes , Marsh , Autridge/ Richards although all the trainers get the powerful owners or studs behind them so does Logan /Gibbs and if you look at statistics a good percentage of there wins are at Ruakaka this season so far they have 34 winners 20 at Ruakaka . I think any trainer going to Austrailia would struggle especially metropoliton racing and you will find that the hit and run raids are only working for the top quality horses and thats just reality . It comes down to the fact that they are not only trainers they have to be business men or woman as far as i'm concerned if there struggling paying wages maybe they need to look at there business model
  10. I think its her right to talk about what she had made but aren't we forgetting something its the owners that support the trainers by breeding or buying the horse and paying the trainer to train them . It cost 27 -30 k to train a horse and get to the races per year and when your racing around for 7k in stakes money with the winning share of that $4350 its pitence really. But you know what you have to be in to win I would say the Logan /Gibbs stable did pretty well considering . We hear this all the time from some trainers about going overseas and training but they are probably going into a harder market
  11. Really like Hugh Bowman just judges races so well . I also like Lisa Allpress another good judge and can rate a horse doesn't always get the plumb rides but finds a way to get a horse into the best position
  12. It is a yawn and i live here crowds dismal facilities not that good only decent thing is track but tend to agree with others its winter and at Ruakaka your running on late spring surface . So the only ones that will really benefit are locally trained horses unless you have a class horse like Peter Mckays 2YO that won . If you look at the percentages of a local trainer eg Logan /Gibbs 19 or 20 noms statistically they are going to win a few now take them away from this environment that percentage runners to winners is drastically reduced . You wont get huge fields up here for that reason and also the travelling costs $400 or so from Waikato per horse . And someone mentioned accomodation there right 30 minutes to Whangarei and if you want a drink the only means of transport is a free bus put on by the club.
  13. Balmerino NZ Derby Kelt capital , Air New zealand stakes ,2000 guineas , Brisbane cup , Ranvet not sure if they were all group ones
  14. Everyone has a direct debit set up so its a matter of just checking the statement nice and easy set figure a month
  15. hes got a great office manager and Wife ha ha
  16. I have interests in a number of horses that are racing and or getting prepared to race and i also breed a couple as well, however I am having a blast at the moment with a syndicate i only have 1% in and was the brainchild of Richardson racing Stables the His and Hers syndicates pitting the ladies versus the men . Its a affordable way of having ownership of a horse and attracting new people to the industry . About 2 1/2 years ago Richie and Rochelle purchased two yearlings from the Karaka sales with a budget of 15k each and syndicated them out for the cost they paid for them with a fixed monthly cost which included training , vet ,transport , nominations etc . It has been a blast with Eprouvez going beyond expectations and winning a couple and placing in others and to be honest could go on with it a bit as a 4 year old . the ladies horse Hashtagfabulous didn't fare as well and was retired however The Richardson's transferred the ladies to 2 other horses A Redwood Gelding and Darci brahma Gelding who are in work as we speak . There was no extra cost associated with this transfer . What it has done is generated approximately 160 people to racing, I'm not saying everyone is new to racing but a great percentage are and having a blast as you can see when the camera pans to stands and sees the many owners of these horses there . A big part of this is the interaction between the teams mainly on social media a bloody lot of borax thrown and given but in the end of it it comes down to a great idea by the Richardson's and there team .
  17. I actually thought the Te Rapa track went ok to be honest from reading how much rain they had over the week i was expecting more scratchings . They were competitive fields with good racing . And notably horses not know for handling soft tracks got up and featured in wins and placings
  18. I have an old mate i used to have a few jars with at our local he used to use willow leaves on his shoulder for arthritis reckons it was magic
  19. xtravagent gets fantastic draw and his what i class main competition are wallowing in Carpark I can see one horse race if he runs up to expectations
  20. im not quite sure what date it is she leaves
  21. And the problem wont get any better with Du Plessis, Opie , Allpress , heading over seas for a sababtical and i hear a whisper Danielle having a holiday for a month or so . You also have to look at suspensions a injuries a month ago there were 14 hoops with either suspensions or injury I know its apprentice season coming up but man it makes it hard i would hate to be a trainer this time of year.
  22. The mobile divys weren't coming up either for possibly same reason
