  1. Long way to go yet with weather and possible track conditions and so on Col but we will no doubt get updates from cafe'ers tomorrow & Wednesday. Just as an aside would the southern contributors like one of the Riverton races included in the 3 NZ options? Riverton have a couple there that look a possible if you southerners like. I will be posting the 5 target races on Wenesday evening so people can do their preliminary study!.
  2. Sorry to burst your little alien green bubble Hesi but the format is actually nothing to do with previous comments. I just decided to run a terminating comp because as you know I stated I had $500.00 to offer up and decided to put my money where my mouth was. So can we please just let this thread/comp run along so contributors can just have some fun & friendly banter, and the chance of getting a voucher.
  3. Oh sorry as that may have been unclear. I will nominate the races but i will be sensible and not make them 2000 mtr maidens , for the quinella option I will nominate a race with no more than 12 starters, no point in making it unwinnable and really difficult as it is terminating.
  4. I thought I would have a wee bash at my own competition for those that want some interest over the next weekend/s racing. I will put up a $500.00 betting voucher as the prize Manawatu looks like it will attract some good fields so I propose a competition that starts on Saturday it may well finish on Saturday but i am willing to let it roll over for 3 weeks until we have a winner/s. This week will consist of 5 races (3 NZ & 2 OZ)and you will be required to pick The winner of 2 races A place getter in 2 races The quinella in 1 race (you will box 3 runners for this) Any scratchings after posting you will go to the next runner in the field. If no winner/s the first week the comp will be 4 (2NZ &2 OZ )races the next week 2 winners 2 Placegetters . Should a 3rd week be required it will be 5 (2NZ & 3OZ) races nominated and whoever gets the most winners and highest WIN dividend total will get the prize.
  5. OK it would seem that some have found the going a bit tuff in the comps or the prize has not been sufficient for the skill required . So i suggest that you both N1MUE & hesi come up with a one day comp for everyone here to enter. I will pledge up to $500.00 as long as you two match me , or up to an amount less than $500.00 if you both decide $250.00 each is a bit rich. That could be a prize pool of $1000.00 cash. I do not wish to be involved with the competition criteria at all, I just have one condition and that is the $$ prize is decided by4pm Wednesday the 28th march 2018 and the funds are deposited with a reliable party (yet to be decided) by Thursday the 29th march 2018 as I would assume you both would want to ensure that the prize is an assured lump sum for the winner/s. Interested in your thoughts and possible prize budget.
  6. You really should enter the "Win 6 colonics Competition" i understand the treatment can improve ones memory!. But for now I will help you out, please see below...it is the comp that you entered ...strangely enough right after Grego. It involved picking the NZ Derby/OZ Guineas/NZ Oaks winners. Grego was the only one live going into Oaks week and then Treasure went amiss so really a no result situation. As for congratulations nup don't need them . I just do stuff because I can!. 7. FYI N1MUE, when Treasure went amiss before the Oaks Insider and I decided that since Grego was most gracious and his first concern was for the horses welfare rather than the fact his remaining chance had been scuppered....because we both believed that Treasure would have been a real chance we chose to award him $200.00 for just being a really good sport and appreciating the spirit of the whole thing. Apologies Liz as we probably would have preferred to have just kept that confidential, but now we have arses questioning our outlays...FFS really N1MUe and others. I am seriously considering setting up a very easy to win comp and first prize shall be a session of 6 colonics at Frau Brauns.
  8. Strangely some are willing to financially aid that promotion. Each to their own of course. Are you having a shot at me admin??
  9. Here we go... 13-Fiesta 3-Alymerton 5-Performance 12-Oohood best of luck everyone!.
  10. You may already know about this site but Racing & Sports has all the barrier stats for each race/distance in their free form section, it may help out a bit.
  11. Yes indeed those years were memorable, for 3yo racing and before Canterbury Belle there was that filly of Andertons Powley who started off her career with multiple wins in a row. Someone has compared Savvy Coup with Princess Coup in the last day, so far Savvy Coup does not even compare to these 2 when looking at their 3yo stats. As an aside was it Powley that had to be destroyed in flight or was it on the boat because she broke out of her crate? rumour at the time was the fire axe was used I do not know if that is true ....can anyone confirm?.
  12. Must be something about the war era (returned men) LZ, my dad would quote virtually the same thing "a horse that runs a good mile , will run you a good 2 miles" he also ran a book at the Manukau Hotel here in Onehunga. I have adapted his "weight sheets" over the years and they are the basis of my calculations still today.
  13. Actually I have to thank you...after reading this post from you earlier I was looking at the big race at Gosford...lo and behold I see a horse called "can't find snippy", hmmm I thought to myself...I know where snippy is and duly placed a lazy $ 50 a place on it at 18s. Guess what?...it just ran 3rd. I enclose the proof as you do seem to doubt what most people say but thanks for the $900 perhaps it will go toward more comps . 17 Mar 18 18:36 O 1008 Final Fld Top3 Deductions Apply FPW $50.00 14 Can't Find Snippy (6) @$18.00 $50.00 17 Mar 18
  14. Yes it has been great being involved in this and the response was very satisfying!!. Personally i can;t wait for the next one/s.
  15. And then PC sold from memory for 2 million in a broodmare sale in 2009
  16. R4 -Bizzwinkle R5-Montoya Star R6- Swiss Watch R7- Ferrando R8- Millseain Best of luck everyone!!.
  17. Having looked at the film several times regardless of what the horse did, how Bowman did not break his neck is nothing short of a miracle. he comes off and hits the ground and then momentum plants his head into the turf and the weight of his body flips over....unbelievable!!!. Very very lucky.
  18. We had similar days by the sound of it CC. I backed winner of R1, R4 as well as $50 plc bets on Walkin By , Soundworks and Major Tom. Went awry in the cup a bit a long neck between me and $700 with Alinko Prince however when the top 5 came out on Fri I got stuck in with another lazy hundred @$4.60 on AP and Kaharau In the last I backed Light Shadow and anchored him with 8 others in $% quinellas....left out Incantessamo but hey a good day on the whole. You enjoy your stooge to the Waterfront and have a great lunch at Headquarters . And best of all wWe can do it all again next week at Trentham!!!!!, your updates yesterday were great by the way as it is years since I have been to Ellerslie for a big meeting and I do miss the atmosphere of the big days!.
  19. Yes that was it!! PLANKing how apt if some dolt does attempt it.
  20. Winx jockey Bowman comes down in heavy fall at Randwick The Daily Telegraph 31 minutes ago JOCKEY Hugh Bowman’s long association with champion mare Winx appears to be safe despite the jockey being thrown from a horse in the Todman Stakes at Randwick this afternoon. Bowman’s mount and race favourite Performer was travelling midfield and making ground at the 200m when the colt ducked out sharply as he was trying to reel in the leaders. Bowman took a heavy fall in front of the grandstand and lay motionless before being attended by medics.
  21. Geez how well are you going Col??.....well done with 2/4 up after 4 races. Keep going and best luck to you.
  22. Wait until the alcohol clicks in a bit later today!, what was that craze a couple of years back ? people taking pics was it boarding - planing -something like that anyway. Some dick will attempt it and H&S will have to get their clipboard out!.
  23. Thanks for that, lets hope that Sam can get him out and competitive again!.
  24. Just looking at our own version of Chataqua in Ronchi and assessing his chances tomorrow. Change of jock in Spratt and gear change of Brow band off , not something I have heard of before so could it do the trick? . Interested in others opinions if it is a usual step to get a horses mind on the job.
