and I'd put Craig Williams on my horses any day
Always liked his riding and feel confident backing his horses if I have a bet....... Seems like a top bloke as well...... Always remember a few years ago when he gave a shout out to the dying man who was trackside in his hospital bed.
Guessing he had to make a split second decision with Jimmystar..... Didn't work out, but he apoligised to connections.
If he'd won we'd all be saying it was the ride of century

Money does not solve everything, and I don't know why people think that pouring money into the product with no quality plan apparent will guarantee returns. What happens when the money runs out ?? .
Been wondering........things going well at the moment....... Good time to be involved with the prize money increases, new innovation races etc etc.... BUT..... How are we really travelling? Are current betting turnover figures enough to fund and sustain the industry if Entain pull pin? Are Entain making a profit from NZ racing? Or are they running at a loss while they try and turn the ship around?

I am pretty sure Chris Wood trained Vegas Showgirl
You might be getting mixed up with another great Al Akbar mare - Verna

Yes, received the $20 bonus but couldn't convert it to cash via a successful bet.
I get the feeling that they might be finally listening to the customers, seem to be more valued since Entain took over

Once one of the great winter handicaps - this years edition headed by a 10yo mare on a 83 Rating - the rest Rating 74 and below.
To save former winning connections from turning in their graves, isn't it about time this race name was retired?
I'm sure the $40k could be better spent in the spring on a MAAT/special conditions race?
Ideas anyone?

Mark needs a new tailor…
Does he ever...... Bad fitting suit makes him look 10 years older

there's promise there, and it's too early to call him a dud IMO
Definitely agree - in my relatively short time (compared to some) in the breeding game I can clearly remember Montjeu being bagged early on with his slow start and more recently Ocean Park.
Ocean Park turned it around in what seemed like overnight....... 2 group 1 winner's in quick succession turned the perception around quick smart

The Chosen one wasn't mentioned in the press release from Highview yesterday, announcing their 2023 stallion fees........ Anyone know what's happening with him this season coming?

Can anyone advise if the progeny of unraced broodmares have any statistical data for or against their racetrack performance.?
I remember reading a study by Renee Geelan (spelling) about the stats of unplaced mares and the racetrack results of their progeny.... This was 10 to 15 years ago

Fond memories of Foxton races early June each year when they always had the Queens birthday Monday meeting with the Castletown Stakes and Foxton cup run on this day. 10 race card with full field's, full car park and a great crowd and atmosphere
And only talking 20 to 25 years ago

Well, I have driven all the way from Wgtn to Foxton to a mid winter race-meeting. Mind you, I have also driven all the way to an Opaki meeting in the middle of winter.

Plus Alamosa probably up there among the candidates for most underrated/forgotten current NZ stallion.
Yes, he seemed to fall off the radar almost overnight, surprising, as he was trucking along OK.
Just looked at his stats...... 58% winners to runners, 21 stakes winners and 14 stakes place getters.

I see his fee has been announced at 17,500 + GST - they have a limited number of outside nominations available - so have announced the fee early their newsletter says
Yes, saw the announcement as well....... Thought he may have been slightly cheaper, but with Satono Aladdin on fire and limited outside noms I guess they can name their price.

Thanks for your replies - have been looking online each Inglis broodmare auction, so mainly curious, but good to know

Anyone know roughly how much it costs? Believe there is paperwork costs etc as well

although you'd think the way the foal crop is going they'd stand him for a lesser fee to guarantee he gets a go.
Does anyone have foal crop numbers from the last few years, including the foal crop on the ground now?
-
I'm sure he's been exported to Australia to stand at stud there from this coming season......

Profondo
At what fee do cafers think he will be? Considering Ace High won the same Group 1 race (Spring champion) and he stands at 10k
Satono Aladdin doing the job here for Deep Impact....... So at this stage there will be 3 sons of Deep Impact to choose from..... Staphanos being the other
Welcome back $17,000 midweek minimum stakes?

Posted the above on another thread a couple of months ago - Would love to know if we are on the right trajectory as far as money in VS money out?
