dogrug reacted to GOM in Congratulations Team Cole
What a wonderful win from a great dog. Congratulations to the Coles, Craig and all concerned. Home bred as well' The run for third from Levi was almost as good, huge effort all round
Now add the Lois Henley , the Graham Hayden-Holmes, and the Palmerston North Gold cup plus chuck in a few more grade races and can anyone think of a more successful day for a trainer in NZ ?
What a successful brood Romberg Lass has been. And to think she never won a race past sprint distance. Throw's some theories out the window. Went to some great studs though.

What a joke that is trainers need to be compensated for the work they do to ensure there dogs are ready to race... it is not there fault people at the other end cannot get it right. this was not an act of god so a payout is required !

dogrug reacted to High Sparrow in Edith Kern RIP
My deepest sympathies to Owen Marron. Edith was a lovely lady and was passionate about her dogs, whether they were her beloved greyhounds or other people's pooches, who she was grooming. I had one of Pandalola's pups and Lola produced some lovely litters - the progeny inheriting her calm nature. Edith and Owen were a formidable partnership both on and off the track and two of the nicest people I met in my time in the sport, always willing to share their wealth of knowledge with newcomers like me. I am very sad to hear of her passing. I enjoyed those days days at Hutt Park in the company of Edith and Owen and Owen's late Dad Joe. May she Rest In Peace.

dogrug reacted to GOM in Merry Christmas
To all Racecafers of whatever creed or gender, that includes you Gary1,
I am suffering racecafe fatigue and must holiday . Have a happy time, look after yourselves, make all your decisions based on love and drive safely as I may coming the other way.
Make sure you look up the meaning of anthropomorphism and remember this; There is no such thing as not having an opinion, you either have an opinion or gift that by tacitly doubling the value of some others diehard opinion.
He who stands for nothing will fall for anything.
Cheers Mike

dogrug reacted to GOM in Clean Up Your Act says Winnie
Ubers, You follow the other codes as well, so why don't trainer owners of the two horse codes not have the same expectations? Are records even kept of what happens to those thousands of GG'S.
Why don't all other breeds of dogs have records kept from birth forever?
Greyhounds are just seen as an easy target

Did I say there was any malice. Simply asked the question as like I said I was made to scr years ago. As for bitch fighting if that's all it takes to be classified then there is a lot of this on the thoroughbred site that needs the same attention.

dogrug got a reaction from Emotive in Dress Code
I love the idea.
Being comfortable when handling your dogs should be a must.
But in our code where sexism is still alive and the ones who make the dress code rules do not handle dogs, this will never happen.
"In theory, sounds easy and practical. But yeah, um," This sounds like the NZGRA.

dogrug reacted to GOM in So how do you feel Mr Rendle?
Comments from a case on Gdata that apply here
Once upon a time, an old man spread rumors that his neighbor was a thief. As a result, the young man was arrested. Days later he was proven innocent. After being released, he sued the old man for wrongly accusing him.
In court, the old man told the judge, “They were just comments, they didn’t harm anyone.”
The judges, before passing sentence on the case, told the old man, “write all the things you said about him on a piece of paper.” “Cut it up into little pieces and on the way home, throw the pieces of paper out of your car window. Tomorrow, come back to hear the sentence.”
The next day, the judge told the old man, “Before receiving the sentence, I want you to go out and gather up all the pieces of paper that you threw out of your car window yesterday.”
The old man said, “I can’t do that! The wind spread them all over the place and won’t know where to find them.”
Then the judge replied, “The same way, simple words and comments may destroy the honor of a person to such an extent that a person will not be able to fix it. If you can’t speak well of someone, don’t say anything at all. Let’s all be masters of our mouths, so that we won’t be slaves of our words.”
“Gossips are worse than thieves because they steal another person’s dignity, honor, reputation and credibility which are impossible to restore. So remember this: when your feet slip, you can always recover your balance but when your tongue slips, you can never recover your words!”

dogrug reacted to yorky in angus wright memorial invitation
i have lost all faith in the selection committee of the waikato grc who selected the field for thursdays angus wright . i know it is a invitation race and they have the right to select who they want but also common sense should apply that the best dogs with the best form should get a run .
also it is a inter island challenge where 4 dogs from the south island are chosen and in this case only 2 dogs are travelling to cambridge,so that leaves 6 dogs from the north to be selected.
my particular dog lochinvar brogue can only make the bench as no 10 with form from G1 races,WINNING ivitation & C5 races .
lochinvar brogue form line over the last 12 starts (all in C5, G1 & invitation) reads.
1-1-1-41-1-4-1-4-1-4-1-2-4.
this dog is a proven open class and can only make the bench as no 10.
one rings up and complains they say "put your complaint in writing" this dog has won 8 out of its last 12 starts surely that speaks for its self
no wonder our great sport is going backwards very quickly when we have amateurs like these "selectors"
i am shattered!!!

dogrug reacted to aquaman in lisa cole
Good on the Coles, they deserve everything they get. It takes hard work to accomplish what they have achieved. They do not do it by importing ready made stock, but breed their own. They are setting an example that all Greyhound people should aspire to. When you breed from good quality stock, then rear and break in very well, then you can expect to achieve good results. This is not easy, it takes hard work and devotion. The bar has been set, its now up to the rest to come up to that standard.

dogrug reacted to I know in CHCH Vs WANG
Fair call . If there is this problem why don't both cd clubs work together and if your dog doesn't get a start Mon wed or fri as there would be at least 2 races from any grade on these days your dog will get a start the next week do you get my drift ?

It's very difficult for young prospects looking to get involved in the greyhound industry specifically the cost of setting up a kennel.

I thought the RIU had a deliberate policy of not releasing details of positives. Give them a ring and they will probably neither confirm nor deny their neither confirm nor deny policy.

About 150 dogs miss a start every week in the CD,well maybe not this week, but every other week.
$40 to dogs who travel more than 150km, may help .
