I think you'll find it was conversion to Christianity which saw the practice of cannabilism cease, and not Maori signing up to  'the British system of parliamentary democracy'

Just watched the race as I need to improve my NZ form knowledge.
Couldn't quite figure out why the Breeders Cup Classic winner was doing in the race (SIERRA LEONE) but suspect may not be the same horse.
The winner did it very nicely and obviously is a nice juvenile - can't find much about the dam - did she race?
Presumably he'll have to move into Group company next.

Maximus talks about what would happen if the mad hatters' Te Pati got control of N.Z.  I read one commentator who suggested that, as our country's economy would be a real Maori Outfit, that the only country that would lend them money would be the Chinks, and their loans come with strong strings attached.  Aussie would probably invade N.Z. to rescue it from the mad hatters' Te Pati.  If that happened Te Tiriti O Waitangi would end up where it should be.  At the bottom of the Tasman Sea.  The Ockers would not want a Chinese puppet so close to their eastern shoreline.

Tauhei Notts got a reaction from THE TORCH in Cup day feedback?
The Canterbury and West Coast Owners' Association used to have an area in the public stand, lower level at the back nearest the winning post.  It was absolutely brilliant.  One could go to the upper deck for the big races.  And through some shady insurance deal they said the public stand was an earthquake risk.  That is such a pity as I would like to go back, but the Members' Stand would be too crowded and no grandstand means no Tauhei Notts.  The Cantabrians know their horses, love their grog and know that life is to be enjoyed to the max.
Some will call me weird, but the next South Island meeting I will attend will be Reefton.

The scary thing is Canterbury Man there are still millions of sheep like Ohokaman and co who are brainwashed by the legacy main stream media like CNN and are unable to think critically for themselves despite platforms like X exposing the blatant lies the legacy media have been perpetuating.
The shining light is that millions are starting to wake up to the truth as evidenced by Trump winning the popular vote.

Why would anyone bother watching that B S we have all witnessed 8 years of constant lying about Trump the dems are incapable of telling the truth when it comes to the landslide election winner , the great patriot Donald Trump , potentially the greatest president the USA has ever had .

An exceptional achievement. It makes a mockery of the Halberg Awards that they won't give him any recognition for his success.

This amazing lady of the turf Sheila Laxon  is surely a worthy  inductee into our NZ Hall of Fame ,
Her back ground history before coming  to NZ  impressed many people.
    including her future husband LKL,
Sheila rode as an  apprentice and  overcame the burocratic bullshit  .She had a Linda Jones strike rate,
Everything  changed for Sheila in 1991 on the 23 rd  January ,
I was Video taping the races at Makaraka Park.Gisbourne,
Sheila had a fall on her horse called TRIPPLE CROSSIng,
She was in a coma for 4 days, I held her  little rough hand at night .
Her mother flew out to be  with her, designing a coffin, for her daughter .
      ,,,,,,,,,
Ten years latter in 2001 Sheila trained The Caulfield Cup  / Melb Cup  mare Ethereal
    ,,,,,,,,,,
23 years later   in  2024 Sheila trains her second Melb Cup winner.
HALL OF Fame  Inductee  for sure

I was going to point that out, you beat me to it.
As for representation from the south, without a decent two year old structure there is very little incentive to buy/have in training a two year old, and hence few numbers to come through at three.

Actually, I think that there is one hell of a lot more to say, especially how our races are thought of Internationally, especially from a Ratings point of view.
But in the meantime congratulations to Dave and Deb for having the guts to turn down the miserly offer for a dual NZ Gr1 winner of less than $700K and then bank A$1 Million + today.
    You fuckin beauties!

NZ RACING CONSECUTIVE MEETINGS WITHOUT AN ABANDONMENT
    10 MEETINGS - $20
    20 MEETINGS - $15

Actually I think Matamata is a better course to run a Group One 1600 than Hastings.
At Matamata the run to the first turn, over 1600 metres, is the longest straight run of any course in New Zealand.
Okay, the straight is not all that long, but it is not a Rotorua or Moonee Valley dash.
