Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from meomy in N.Z. Racing Museum
Is this dead in the water now or resting on the ocean floor? Will be working on clearing some books and memorabilia and wonder where to offer it.

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from 47South in Trainers charging to attend Races.
To avoid that, insist that your horses do track work only during office hours, Monday to Friday!

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from Baz (NZ) in Whats your view???
As a point of law, the comments relate (mostly) to Grimstone's previous employment so why does it concern the J.C.A.?

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from fermoy in Is now a good time to restructure Clubs?
A thought: to pre-empt the probably illegal and certainly immoral acquistion of racing clubs' assets, would those denied racing days be better to sell their courses and invest into remaining clubs? More than P.B.T.C. just hiring to race at Hastings but buying a share of the parent club, to retain some identity and still have some power over their destiny.

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from Lachie Ashton in The numbers don't lie - where the TAB went wrong
By my simple calculation, the drop of 4.4% in Turnover/Dividends equals a loss of $127,000,000. That sum should fix the current financial problems but one must ask; Did nobody notice the declining returns?
Supplementary questions; Why not? If somebody did, what action was taken?

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from Aaron Bidlake in Trackside radio should consider a play for Radio Sport
The advantage of radio is that one can do other stuff while listening, rather than being obliged to sit at a screen.
Without Sky/Spark tv, or Radio Sport, might have to buy a newspaper to find the cricket scores.

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from Gruff in Aussie TAB error
Why were the punters furious? Because their dishonesty was caught or did they seriously believe that the amounts were real? That they were spreading
the story on social medium suggests that they knew. Taking money paid by mistake is a crime, unless the recipient can prove that it was genuinely felt to be theirs. I would take bets on them failing that.

Imagine if your horse won and you didn't back it.

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from slam dunk in Rural NZ to the rescue .
What bazach and Kingshill said. Most dairy farms are minimum of 500 cows to be economic units nowadays. With farm manger/sharemilker/staff, who has time to play with horses? A generation lost to racing is never likely to return.

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from Ragamuffin in Corona Virus Impact on Racing
W.R.C. controlling birdcage and owners' room, without doing anything in public stand (?), seems a half-arsed response.
Like the government telling all tourists to self-isolate for 14 days. We continue to support the tourism industry but won't allow tourists to tour?

Was more impressed by Two Illicit. By the time and ease of her win, she could have won Herbie Dyke Stakes?

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from Baz (NZ) in Absolutely utterly appalling
Agree. It's way over-the-top, as if there is shame in calling it the New Zealand team.

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from Gruff in A propos absolutely nothing.
When one looks at courses in Love Racing, there is a 2d diagram and an aerial photograph for each.
Soon is obvious that the diagrams haven't been up-dated in 40+ (?) years and that most have little resemblance to the actual course. Te Awamutu, Waipukurau and Waverley are quite different from reality, such that you would be mislead by thinking that they suited front-runners or swoopers.
However, I am sure that the blokes have better things to do (or fix) with their time and it has been only 40 years.

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from Huey in No free tv
Dafter than a very daft idea? This is the one time each year that Joe Public might be attracted to racing. Lotto spends huge money on promoting its 'game' (Marketing Department term for gambling) and (presumably) pays for 10 minutes of TV each week to broadcast the draws. N.Z. T.A.B., in its wisdom (pun intended), offered deals to punters but not an easy way to follow those bets.
Wonder what the cost of the deals was, compared with the cost of 10 minutes on free-to-air TV? Also, how the turnover compared with other years? However, if they don't care and are still paid, why should I care?

Phar Lap Fan got a reaction from Pam Robson in Telegraph
Tradition for its own sake is rather pointless. There has been no Gr. 1, w.f.a. race over 1,200 metres in N.Z. for ever? Many years ago, 2 y.o. and 3 y.o. horses would compete in w.f.a. races, such as the N.I. Challenge Stakes.
Also consider that 'the home of stayers' doesn't have a race over 2,400 metres, at w.f.a., similar to Le Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, as in other countries. Is w.f.a. racing fair or does our obsession with handicap races promote mediocrity?

Deja bloody vu! One of my ancestors once lived in London, where the King of England did. Top that! So much dropped here that it will take a bloody big shovel to shift it.
