  1. Fascinating stuff. My read is this … that is a lot of money for some very nice looking (some of them) horses who are racing at below top tier venues for some very expectant owners? Hollywood north for me.
  2. Perhaps NZTM can do a story on this and get some attention on it
  3. Interesting comment. I think it ended up in hindsight being the price paid to get the necessary experience and fitness into a horse to get to the 2000 guineas - and win. often the most educated and professional get the job done - and clearly the stable is good at that. the race is in November remember, and can take its toll on a 3yold…It’s not easy.
  4. Rip van w an amazing racehorse but from a somewhat under rated direct family in the UK. Others know more than I on that, just relaying what I was told. to my eye has some nice broodmare sire names in his pedigree. nice 2000 guineas win in a weaker year than usual.
  5. The yearling is a per Incanto full sister, not time test. Which I’m soon syndicating for racing.
  6. same type as Glinda who was quite a classic type. higher and longer than Don, don Carlo a heavy brut. I have another yearling full in the paddock - retained for racing - Photo pre Xmas. Glinda below that as a 2yold at Cambridge trials
  7. breeding GG in partnership, have a Time Test colt 1st foal, and back in foal to the same this year. nurturing is a good word…such a long (satisfying) pursuit.
  8. Thanks all. Yes, she was syndicated in AU. I’m still in, and I admit to having shed a tear when she crossed the line in the manner she did on the night (proud for Turf Fire - whom I bred /raced - such a long process) She’s a talent, and while Don Carlo won 8 and his first race as well, and Full sister Glinda Goodwitch broke down after the sires produce of her year, and even thou I’m getting carried away after a MDN at Cranbourne- she’s could be the best yet. It was a good margin for only a 1000m. If you give me some licence, on a breeding front, I think those two back white socks go back to Nogara via turf fire - lots of multiples. She has them as well. 9. Well supported son of high chap
  10. 2018 - okeechobee is the Time Test 1/2 brother to Logican out of Scuffle. So far Unraced. Any intel Berri? Trainer?
  11. I’m not sure buyers would have targeted the Time Tests for the 2yold Karaka Million, so having [up to] three in the field is a good start by the sire… it’s early in the season. win | place stakes are influential for the first season sires earnings as well…there are three in it - almanzor, time test, and satono Aladdin … good luck to all.
  12. The reverse cross obviously is working - Shamus is reverse cross with O’Reilly through Shamexpresss over a Per Incanto mare…
  13. Time Test First Southern Hemisphere 2 year old winner goes into Karaka Million…https://www.racingnews.co.nz/wexford-juvenile-times-karaka-million-run-to-perfection/ Link to race video: https://loveracing.nz/Common/SystemTemplates/Modal/Video.aspx?v=http%3a%2f%2fwww.racingreplays.co.nz%2fmedia%2f202201%2fTAUR-R01-140122.mp4&i=%2fCommon%2fImage.ashx%3fw%3d565%26h%3d314%26a%3d1%26o%3d1%26z%3d1%26bg%3deeeeee%26p%3dhttp%3a%2f%2fwww.racingreplays.co.nz%2fmedia%2f202201%2fTAUR-R01-140122.jpg&r=Race 1 - RAY WHITE MOUNT MAUNGANUI JUVENILE&rs=1&jwsource=cl
  14. Very nice farm, in great location. A progressive nz based farm could do well here. USA line stallions have found it hard to get traction. Even arrowfield found it hard introducing the Japan based lines.
  15. Super Seth ex Turf Fire (by Oreilly)…late oct foal
  16. Yes - in October …sent email
  17. Here is a filly, the sires damsire, and the damsire’s direct female line descendant… gives a pointer as to where the genetics MAY have come from in the individual in front of you…. PS it’s all probability only…
  18. In this case you are duplicating sadler’s wells through two daughters…two daughters of sadler’s wells = 2 X chromosomes (plus other genetics) of SW in the mix…as a stallion SW was one of the greatest off all time for classic horses… and a bit like Northern Dancer, can you have too much of him in a pedigree? (or aka lots of great genetics) …. Don’t get too academic about it… perhaps look at the type you have in front of you and ask “ do I have an athletic type”? what have I thrown back to? I look at the colour and use that to guess (based on probability) where the unseen genetics have thrown too…it just increases your chances of that being SW genetics… Others can add more about filly or colt implications
  19. And to Last Tycoon who was a megastar at the time…
  20. Interesting… that’s also what comes from PI OVER oreilly and tokay mares… etc.
  21. I’m not sure that’s true. Guess it depends on what your definition of results is…let’s think improving long term quality of the breed …Notwithstanding the dates imported for use stallions like Last tycoon (O’Reilly), High Chaparral, Defensive play (great broodmare influence) etc have left a lasting influence … for decades…in producing stakes horses.
