  1. Rumpole, good to catch up with you at Trentham. Keep working on the book!
  2. Is 54kgs too much of a struggle to be a jockey? Don't think so.
  3. Gruff, the impression I got was that Allpress tried to get off the rail but the other riders were on to it and made it difficult for her. I thought another Pitman runner Eleanor Coup was in a prime position to go around the field at the 600m but for some reason Chris Johnson went inside. No doubt I will get growled at by Johnson fans, but it seemed the wrong choice to me.
  4. Your on to it. Not worth responding to him. He's about as much Maori as Christian Cullen.
  5. Abysmal parenting is one of the biggest issues facing this country-lowlifes tend to breed more lowlifes. That is not to condone what this young thug did-it doesn't get any worse. This week we had a case where 5 kids were left alone in a van at Sky City and then of course the coroner inquest into the toddler that died, after there parent's didn't take her to hospital for 5 days FFS! (And in all probability one of them injured her in the first place.) I don't know all the answers, but what chance do kid's have been brought up in gang houses or inter generational benefit houses where no one has ever worked?
  6. So if Fay and his cronies get the farms is anyone under any illusion as to what will then happen? After a couple of years when all has calmed down they will be flicked off to the highest bidder at a substantial profit given he will have got them cheap. And do you think he gives a toss who he sells them to, whether they be chinese, russian, american's whatever?
  7. Well done Megan, and a very good training effort by Mary Sheely after the horse had been off the racecourse for so long.
  8. Anyone who saw Islington Bay's trial would have had a 'wee wager' on it next start at the races. But of course that wouldn't have happened because Islington Bay ran and won BEFORE it's trial was made public. What a joke! No wonder turnover is down and NZ racing is 'battling'. A billion dollar industry run by a bunch of amateurs pulling in corporate salaries. Why on earth can't trials be shown the next day?
  9. Gruff, Baldovino showed the heart of a pea on Saturday, blinkers on, so maybe they thought he wasn't putting in. Well on Saturday he was travelling beautifully in the lead, kicked a bit at the 500m, and then threw in the towel. Nothing to do with the track, more the size of the heart.
  10. Hopefully Biddle will be kept away from the irrigator...........
  11. Not surprising as our sprinters (bar the sprinter/miler Mufhasa) are the slowest in living memory and it's easy pickings. Which just goes to show how NZ breeders have lost touch as they keep importing more 'speed' sires yet we can never compete with Australia. This has also led to the decline in our stayers to the extent NZ is no longer competitive in the Melbourne Club. We need more sires like Savabeel and hopefully Shocking to get us back on track as a breeding nation and to replace the likes of Zabeel, Pentire and High Chapparal.
  12. What was the nature of this injury Mark?
