  1. That's the whole point you don't really know who is going to the favourite (or most preferred pick) until minutes or so before the race, except for a few races. and in regards to stake money, this is a picking competition, not stakes winnings.
  2. hmm was just thinking the same thing, if warriors get beat by 3-4 or more then its Broncos in and Warriors out. is this right ?
  3. So your horse comes second but you only get 80 points instead of a 100 ? How can that be fair ? Yeah I see the point, but the advantage (plus hassle) of picking horses likely to scratched to get the favourite is an abuse. See this is a favourites comp, because of the points, so I see it as an advantage. IMO. ****** Yeah no sweat Hesi, knew we could work it out easily .....
  4. No problems with the scoring between us, I was relegated to the sideline (yellow carded) for two days and couldn't get fresh access to the picks, leading to a few getting away. The only difference in the points is in regard to the dead heat rules and also some clarification in regards to early scratchings. Everything else is hunky dory. I'm sure we can sort out a simple enough arrangement between us, once we have clarification on the above. Best to get all the little things sorted now (week 2) before we dive in to the deep end ........... also I don't believe you can cull people, when they are paying to play this competition.
  5. So our scores are basically the same less the deadheat points and a couple of missing wk 2 people. I have absolutely no idea what happened with your no.2 picks, Hesi ......
  6. believe this is correct. Entries close at 11am on race day,if your horse is scratched after this time, you go onto to NZTAB fav in the race. if horse is scratched prior to 11am, then no sub, seems fair and much easier. otherwise it would lead to that old p6 situation, like betting on emergencies the day before, too obtain the favourite on raceday ... ??? Points for the first three home in a race; 175, 100, 60. In the case of a deadbeat points will be halved. Can't agree with this rule, if your horse comes second even in a deadheat it still comes second. ********* And we have to be strict with rulings, can't allow one thing one week for someone, then change for some one else. Consistency is the key especially with money involved.

  8. having just gained access to the site this morning, i'll check the picks I gave the dead heaters both a 100 for coming second, why do they gain the third divvy ?
  9. Well done to the old man, guess if he released the hand brake a little earlier sometimes, he be up around 2500 ... hope both the Skelton boys are doing well ...
  10. did with me, our little ripper LADY HAURAKI was excellent, now sadly retired, but I have now developed a penchant for the owner/trainers bars especially with a free bar tab every time she raced ........ And you never really saw the full potential of having a radio station jock, owning a horse, because she never raced in Auckland on a weekend, where with minimal advertising, you could have had 100-200 plus extra people on course, most of them temp owners enjoying all the buzz. CONCHITA was a little different because it had already won a race by the time we joined, but still the same buzz on course, especially when it won at Avondale !!!
  11. After my enforced lay-off ..... your unofficial scores ...... week 2 773 ... Ziggy 769 ... Puha, tasman 547 .... Royal Ch 543 … hesi 2 499 .... brown fox 407 .... teddy, turny, osecola 274 .... napier 272 .... mike 270 .... rsdude, torch, gruff, straw 172 ... tailed 140 ... Memphis, niume, cubes, hesi, von sm 136 ... Ritchie, moose, atubbs, gaf, gordy, van, Scooby, ashoka Clarification needed on Al f 0 ... rest
  12. Scooby ... "Has our resident scorekeeper gone AWOL???" hmmmmm, Left hand don't know what right hand is doing ?
  13. Ok, Hesi, all good, it is really easy to work, I just put in the horses names in the database instead of trying to find all the numbers. quick and easy to delete the losers and only three scores to total .... 50 entries so it should pay for itself and I will hold on to the database till the end, so it will be easy to backtrack and check. and like I said previous, they will all jump up and down quick enough, if they think the result is not correct ...
  14. All good, Nimue, me being the biggest crook and slyest accountant on the site, you are guaranteed a correct chart. ... You guys are so quick to bleat, we can not help but sort your latest quibbles instantly ...... The truth be said, HESI and at least one other person will be checking the results too. Being only a three pick competition, its relatively easy to score. and yes I believe the guys are working on a way to extract your money as easy as possible ...
  15. OMG, not AUDEN ????????? I knew there was something I had to bet on today ...
  16. Ted: I agreed it was open to corruption didn't I ? Taz: "First stoppage or scoring option at rugby /league......did that option cease after the attempt to cheat in NRL in recent years" Gawd who could forget Justin Marshall, get the ball from the kick-off and kick it straight out, NEARLY every game or the time Andrew Merthens went for a drop goal when he had an large overlap outside him !! TB: You no love me anymore ... lol, How about sticking a needle in ......... Bear: YOU want names, hmmmmm why ? I'm not narking on anybody, jockey, trainer or assistants, but the game is not clean and never has or will be. If you didn't know that, then I got a bridge to sell ya. and don't give me the crap about tarring everybody, because, of course there are a lot of decent hardworking toilers in this game, but when money is involved, innocence flies out the window. and any statement I have made on this or the other board is not even close to the worst ...
  17. And you seriously think that was the first time Oliver ever had a punt on another horse .......... Dirty crooked little toe-rag of an aussie and he deserved 2-3 years, not a slap on hand and back for the big races. Most of the NZ jockeys punt and a few undoubtedly punt against themselves, whatever, like I said previously it ain't the worse thing to happen at a racecourse and most of sound like you got burnt, well, tough, you have been milked many times over and in lots of different ways, so stop the witch hunt on young Walker and try and figure who the real villains out there are ! Christ, you sound like a bunch of kids who have been kicked out of the sandpit ... And in regards to jockeys riding there horses out, it includes back to 5th place (ie prize money). Oh yeah I wish Litcher and Dillion put more effort into promoting racing as opposed to smearing with their sh*te.
  18. Going to the game this Saturday at Eden Park, costs sweet fanny, sit in the best seats in the house (nearly) and enjoy a cracking game of afternoon rugby .......... Love the ITM ...
  19. Yep, sports would top of the list, but also could do place betting ...
  20. Agreed, Marco clearly has talent and Saturday could have been the turning point for better rides (less the accident) and I wish him well. Thanks Mr Carter for your thoughts and also Mr Hain. And I also hope Ponderosa Miss pulls thru ok, I have followed the family along, HAVITBAK, HAYLEY GRACE, BAK d CHIEF, ECUADOR, even OLD RED and of course KING JAMES (....long happy story ... )
  21. Way out of wack, but you guys help build this up, when most of you were probably talking out of their pocket, without an iota for the horse. The value he places on her seems a little over the top, I know this family better good. The interference was minor and reflected by the stewards. Lots of far worse incidents, (including the Ruakaka race) its just the odds, in regards to the injury to the horse. But maybe I could sue fatboy for some of his lacklustre rides ...
