  1. Mr Foss coming to NP to talk with Wheels and Hobbsy so will be interesting where he sees it and what he's proposing to do
  2. What more can he do - he is clearly the best all round 3year old in the country. Bring on Australia!
  3. He's Remarkable Historian Jimmy Chioux Jetset Lad
  4. Good to see Scooby running his horse at NP on Friday. Good to hear the Trainers and Jockeys comment on how great the track was. Good to see the winners came from everywhere, front, midfield and last, even with the rail out seven metres. Sad to hear some of you bag the success of a club, and take any two large trainers out of any training complex and what have you got??! Looking forward to next saturdays premier meeting. Now clashing with Avondale Guneas and Avondale Cup so interested to see which jockeys head this way. Still very good stakes day.
  5. Its a pity you havent made yourself known to me at the course. Unless of course that is not your real name. I can assure you I am not one of Guys flock, the whole board had their time, Ron and Noel have moved on so should you, our support will be behind Wheels to help get the ship righted.
  6. Scooby, you seem very soft if you think that was abuse. I was merely pointing out a few facts. As I said I (more likely Carey) will look into the tent tops. I also have not said Stratfords track was no good, in fact that day was a great track, but its only one part of the whole puzzle to a raceday. Ive mentioned before we don't get it right either. You need to actually attend a raceday at NP so you can give first hand critiscism. Ten years ago doesn't count.
  7. Nathan What do you think Mooney Valley would say?
  8. For your information, I was there, I even raced a horse. You've really shown your true intelligence if you think thats name dropping and you obviously think you've cracked it on the Grocers name. By all means come and see me on course with your problems instead of trying to be important by comparing A and B class venues on the cafe. I also spoke to the Stratford president about what a great crowd it was, but the comments you and the cartoon character make, really show what a mickey mouse bias attitude to the region you actually have. Oh, by the way I'll look into the tops of those tents, even if you are the only person ever to have mentioned it.
  9. I don't want a **** fight with you Leggy, but Guy wasn't referring to GRNZ or HRNZ when he was speaking about the negative.... That label was meant for the few from our own industry, who couldn't see the principles of the model ie. cost savings, shared services, the racing act etc. Yes, it wasn't sold particularly well but most alternatives will end up looking at those same principles in the end I believe. So the critics here were possibly people like yourself, I don't know, but the alternatives offered still discuss those same principles. Not ignorant nor michievous just debate.
  10. There will be a new Board. That was voted by majority (one club voted against) so I would believe that the industry has spoken and demanded change. We will not go back to yesterdays men, GS finally spoke out about the Governance model that would work, if all players participated. That was not to be, so the next model was introduced. NEW Board new agenda. On that, the industry has adopted the first steps to change, embrace it.
  11. If we could get control of the TAB then all good, but I do not see the Gvnmt moving in that direction. how do we fix it with the current laws and act?
  12. Firstly, you have your head in the clouds if you think Stratford has the best course! Its a summer track only. Hawera probably holds the best track mantle. Secondly, you have no idea how clubs are supposed to survive if you are concerned about people on courses who are in tents. Yes, we will NOT apologise for the 600 odd corporate guests, but where do you think the future for racing clubs is coming from???? The punters/members were not impeded for their races. We are also one of only a few clubs who return a positive balance on their racedays - not because we get so many - and we're still not getting it right! We also are proud of the way we look after visiting trainers, owners and jockeys and the facilities they enjoy. We HAVE ASKED THEM!!! And we will always get the tall poppy syndrome whingers who do not ask the correct answers and listen to the minority who dont know **** from clay. And Bennyboy they have ONE day to get their sponsorship, stakes and raceday performing to a maximum. Ours is an industry day like theirs and if you were up with it you'd know the funding isn't there! So we'll make 40k on the day and Stfd will hopefully make 25k. Torch we haven't applied for date, if we get given it, it won't be because of that. You know my number, just ask instead of showboating.
  13. As Guy said at the AGM it only took a few negative morons to scaremonger the easily led, build a wave of insecurity and close down the only option, yet these morons never produced an alternative model. What will finally happen is just a wordchange to the Onerace model and that is only to appease those same doubters so they feel they got their way. It WILL finally happen, it just may take Australia to have the balls to do it first. It was a pity it took Guy so long to show leadership mongrel and rip into these industry sinkers. It was his best (and only?) speech that actually showed some grit and truth. One that was out loud and for all to hear!
  14. I think you'll find that is only one of numerous issues that need to be addressed. Remembering these 8-12 members will know the industry concerns and will appoint the Board to fix it. If you are unsure of their expertise, then you are not speaking to the right people, and those people you are speaking to will not be part of the Members Council.
  15. "May I point out that owners race horses all over the country. Breeders breed from mares and sell yearlings all over the country. Trainers will go wherever they can win stakes. So they are not beholden to local interests and must take a wider view. Apart from the stake they have in the industry, that is why they need representation." The Members Council will be interviewing candidates that can cover/act/perform all duties required by an industry board. This council will understand the industry failures and where we need to go. That is why we (regions) are providing the best candidates for the council. That is also why we do not need Sector representation. We actually are contemplating nominating both a trainer and a breeder. Not because of their sector knowledge, but because of their industry knowledge. It only makes the Member Council have more opinions than it needs to have. One more thing, the NZTR seem to have decided that it will not be 8 cluster groups as was agreed but 3 from Nth, 3 from Central and 3 from South. Another decision made alternatively to the decisions that were made at these meetings. This could cause very parochial decisions, hopefully we have the right people in charge of the bigger clubs in the Regions.
