    Weir charges dismissed

So you think it's OK to use a jigger on a defenceless animal, and that if they are not trying they deserve it??? For me what he did is totally wrong if you are that desperate to win, then there is something wrong with you...I for one would never give him a horse but thats just my opinion, I think more of the horse than just being a means to an end.

  2. Friday @ Alexandra Park ️ I've found a couple that i believe are bringing in solid form and they are well worth a dig individually and are also a great option to multi together! R2 Seaclusion (Dylan might not be happy with me tipping his horse ) I've always had a soft spot for this horse and she ran a solid 2nd fresh up last week amongst the boys after working from the 2nd row and ending up 4 wide turning for home. Draws better tonight, will only be fitter and the sprint trip suits! I actually think she's overs. $4.80 and $2.00 R3 Irish Whispers He brings solid form coming in to this race and was 2nd to Hail Lucius at Cambridge on The Race By Grins night. Keep in mind, he drew 7 and worked hard off the gate to sit wide the race. That night Hail Lucius couldn't have been more impressive winning in 2.37:3 and Irish Whispers was gaining on him hitting the line going down by a length to finish 2nd. If he produces something similar he wins! $3.50FW A $10 spend taking both to win could return $168.00 Good luck!

  3. Sorry but dont agree, you break the rules and treat horses so cruely and like pieces of meat you dont deserve to have a licence.

  4. I'm wondering if they should do the decent thing and hand back their race club of the year award.

  5. Apparently there will be a Motorway closure this week to put the new directional signs for Alexandra Park up.

  6. Another witch hunt finally gets the right result. So much for Racing Victoria’s “ expert witness”…… https://www.racenet.com.au/news/darren-weir-not-guilty-on-corruption-charges-related-to-use-of-jiggers-on-racehorses-20240423

  7. A little more involved than “paying off a hooker” mate. Already $80m in the hole for defamation, Add Financial corruption, Fraud, Election interference, Insurrection incitement….he is scum.

  8. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha ......Why me Scooby??? ....you said NOTHING to Ohokaman and Turny Tom who started this thread supporting Weiry .... but somehow I am the big bad Wolf for agreeing with them both! ....a little bit of favourtism me thinks here Scooby-Doo. I will let you run your race and get myself back to normality. PS.... jiggers just have a couple of little A4 batteries in them .....its more a tickle than a shock......If I hit you on the arse with it you would probably just laugh....and then the joke would be back on you haha . FF ...Just telling the truth.

    Jumps racing

CJC got rid of all jumps but National & only hanging by thread for the $$$. don't even waste my time going down any more as had done every year, BEST part of the season for 50+ of my yrs but sad decline, sold off hill so no Great Northern etc karma seems to be visiting there lol, Dr McGregor Grant be mortified. Shame they listen to not only the Peta nutters & cohorts but those on boards trying to shut jumps racing down. Be at their peril as many I know have now turned backs on racing & spend $ elsewhere. Don't think Troys that desperate to go back over sticks, not last I chatted with him Shaun will pick his mounts, a few overseas jumps jocks may return, Emily may also, time will tell, without Myers, Ken Duncan & a few stalwarts few have jumpers any more & those in Sth Is who do want the odd one now have to send it north. Long gone are the likes of the great Kumai. Grey Ways etc. Can only hope the choice picnic meetings who DO get great public attendance do do same way some are trying to shut. sorry state of racing it's become

  11. Thursday @ Cambridge. Here are 4 I've been keeping my eye on and I think they are all winning chances tonight!. ️ R3 Gladys Greenland Fresh up tonight and has done the majority of her racing at Alexandra Park. Comes to Cambridge tonight for her resumption and has gate speed to burn which will make her tough to beat over the 1700m! ️ $2.30FW ️ Shez The One Won her maiden 3 starts ago and backed that up with 2 tidy 3rds. One of those was against Leo Lincoln and she went 2:40.3 so she can get along nicely and has enough gate speed to be handy. Broke last start in traffic on The Race By Grins night here after drawing 10. Her last 3 races they have gone sub 2:41.4 so she has been having to fight! ️ $6.00 and $2.30 ️ R6 Sheza Mermaid A maiden I've been following and alot of the time she has been unlucky or has done it tough but normally super consistent! She should go close in this feild tonight! ️ $4.00 and $1.70 ️ R9 Lincoln Cove Has the ability to be breaking maiden status but manners have been an issue! He gets his chance tonight in a small feild and if he behaves he can definitely take this out! ️ $3.60 and $1.45 Although i think they are winning chances, a nice multi option might be taking them all to run top 2. $10 to return $175.56 Good luck (:

  12. A fine? Wasn't he banned for 4 years for simply having the jiggers in his possession and will have to prove he is a fit and proper person in order to regain his licence. We should have that rule here like Racing Vic for cases such as the Pertab one.

    Trackside

I have noticed at some midweek meetings on all codes after last leg of quaddies, trebles, doubles etc. Help desk informed me that's correct they are now only doing it for big meetings. It's a trial .. W.T.F also said I can look it up on website ..W.T.F .. why bother putting any divides up then ?

  19. It's good to exchange memories Mite. I very much remember the track being sprayed everywhere - wondered if at the time they didn't factor that in and the racing surface might have suffered. Memories of Ivan Mauger are there, but vague. Other 'different' memories - Eyelure Derbies (for female drivers who at the time weren't licensed), Equalisator Meetings and the Man, vs Bike vs Horse Handicap event.... As a family we always attended the outside 'free' enclosure which was the old wooden stand, and I can remember being picked up from school to watch the Auckland Cup, with that area being packed out (Stella Frost, Black Watch possiblle runners?) And watching a rain affected Cup with the big smash from the top of the Epsom Stand (Rain Again, Royal Ascot, Manawaru, Valencia) etc I'm pretty sure this was before they put the extension out the back that housed the new betting facilities. Usual evening at the trots was to rush home from work, clean up and be ready for my mate to pick me up, grab Mum's homemade burgers she'd made to eat on the way in and off we'd go. On course it was usually - check out the parade ring, dash back to watch prelims and then jump in the queue to get a bet on. And maybe the odd beer thrown in as we got older Nowadays for me it's pretty much just computer betting on Australian Racing such is the demise of the local product

    Transformational Change

Yes, I was there for the rally cars too. They blew the track surface into the neighbouring suburbs i seem to recall they ran them one night as a special stage of the rally without the harness horses there? But that might be my fading memory. I also seem to recall Ivan Mauger promoting a long track meeting there for the speedway solo bikes?

  22. Sat in there MANY a time myself. NOT in 1943 however. Or even 1953, 1963, or even 1973. But late 70's through the 80's, 90's and early noughties, but rarely since then and several years now since I set foot in the place at all.

    Mitch Kerr.

Correct. Both should be banned from any further participation in harness racing for life. Both a repeat offenders and have had enough chances. Ban them both!

  24. Thejanitor

    Mitch Kerr.

I'm ropable about this mate. What sort of message does this send to the likes of young Sarah O'Reilly and the Tomlinson sisters, all women in harness racing? The head of the organisation Spicer goes into bat for a woman basher. The despicable Anderson beat a vulnerable young woman numerous times, and she had to hide in a ditch to evade the cowardly prick. "Oh don't worry girls, he didn't mean it, he's sorry... it won't happen again." Wake up Spicer, this arsehole should never be allowed a NZ racetrack again or hold any sort of license. How this fellow is still on the street is mind boggling.

    Mitch Kerr.

Another low down, thieving, caniving bastard. Just like Matt Anderson should, Mitch Kerr should be banned for life. Ones a female basher the other a thief. Kerr coning honest people and sportsmen like Matt Henry and Anton Lenard Brown, both upstanding New Zealand representatives in their sport. Spicer, Woodham and co should ban him for life from all association with the industry. Not a good look for our industry when now is the time to get people involved. Makes life hard for those looking ahead to the upcoming yearling sales. How do we entice newbies when all that is going on at the moment is bad news with this story making front page. Not a good look but who can blame a reporter from putting a story together based on truth and fact. When the defendant/accused or their associates refuses comment or right to reply only means one thing. GUILTY !!!

  26. They still used a jigger on horses; that's not up for debate. The question here is whether or not it affected the outcome of races, and the judge isn't convinced it did. So it's "just" animal abuse for a benefit which may or may not exist (the judge thinks it doesn't, Weir either thinks it does or just likes shocking horses for fun).
