  2. We tried this one 6 weeks ago and got off to a bit of a rocky start (60% of the field eliminated in the first race) but it worked out ok in the end - if you were among the 40%. Might cause a few to rethink their Free Pass strategy. Have tried to make it a slightly easier task in race 1 this week - 8 horse field. Please read the "Free Pass" rule below very carefully How it works - pick two horses in each of the 12 designated races. The primary objective is to make it to the next race - you need at least one of your two picks to finish in the first 4 to progress to the next race. Your secondary objective is to accumulate dividends - you will have $10 each way on each of your selections. Winner - the winner is the entrant who makes it through all 12 races (with at least one runner in first 4) and accumulates the most dividends. Or if nobody survives all 12 races, the last person to be knocked out. If more than one entrant are the last to be knocked out, the winner will be the one of those entrants with the most dollars accumulated at the time they were knocked out. For example if there are only three people still alive going into the 10th race, and they are all knocked out in the 10th race, the one of those three with the highest dollars after race 9 is the winner (in this example the race 11 & 12 results will count for nothing). Free Pass - you will have two Free Passes at your disposal across the 12 races. You don't have to use either or both of your free passes, ie. you can use none, one or two free passes. You would use a Free Pass if there was a race you didn't fancy your chances of surviving (picking one in the top 4). Use your Free Pass and you automatically proceed to the next race. The downside to the Free Pass is that you forego the opportunity to accumulate dividends in that race - again a bit of a risk/reward thing. If you use your Free Pass in a race just mark it as for example "FP" - you don't need to post selections for your Free Pass races. If anyone posts numbers and FP in a race the Free Pass will prevail. An example of how you might submit your entry: Pukekohe R2: 1/3 Pukekohe R4: 2/7 Pukekohe R5: FP Pukekohe R6: 4/5 Pukekohe R7: FP .......... Prize - Scooby has kindly put up a $100 bet (win and/or place) to the winner - usual 50:50 split of any winnings. Posting deadline is 11.30am - 10 minutes before first race (note very early this week) Races are as follows - please note the races are listed in chronological order, as the order matters in a race to race survival comp. Please post your picks in this race order. Pukekohe R2 Pukekohe R4 Pukekohe R5 Pukekohe R6 Pukekohe R7 Eagle Farm R4 Caulfield R4 Eagle Farm R6 Eagle Farm R7 Eagle Farm R8 Eagle Farm R9 Eagle Farm R10

  7. Hedley , global governance will prove impossible to achieve so sleep easy . The Romans were the first to control the established world but it didn't last , today we have technology that should help make it possible but it won't happen , today in Davos one of the topics being debated , IS GLOBALIZATION DEAD so plenty of uncertainty even from those hoping for control . The Europeans are openly talking about it . Energy crisis , inflation , supply problems , a developing food crisis which will destabilize governments , many governments will have trouble controlling their own citizens never mind ruling the world and then the war in Ukraine . Russia , China , India , and a few lessors add up to 50% of the world population , good luck with controlling that . Country's are more likely to focus on supply security , product independence which means free trade will be in reverse . Don't panic Hedley the one government/Globalization ambition is dying if not already dead .

Looking at some of your posts I'm surprised you entertain harness racing. Tell us who these cheating pricks are these days it would help some of the punters if you gave them an edge.

Yes, knowledge and experience to burn there, we need people like him that Constantly produce young people for our industry. Someone thats in it for the love of the sport and not the big time show scene that others are. Not naming any entities in particular..........

  14. I've heard and read complaints that there are no grass track meetings in Canterbury for 7 weeks , during the time that regular meetings ...3 in June , 2 in July.....are held on the synthetic track. This comment appears to be untrue. In June there are grass meetings at Timaru and Riccarton , while Ashburton races in July . In addition between now and the National week starting early August there are grass track meetings planned for Wingatui x 3 and Oamaru x 2. And before National week there are at least 3 x meetings where most races are worth $30k - $35k. As to the smaller field sizes racing on the Synthetic , naturally there have been some nervousness and misinformation as to the suitability of the surface for racing. Once this has been overcome , those willing to race should improve. Even if it doesn't ,wasn't the main reason for them to assist in traning and to ease the burden on winter tracks and limit postponments of trials and racing during inclement weather. Yhey were never intended to 'save' NZ Racing in their first year ! Like my trainers I want to see my horse burning up the grass tracks of Ellerslie ,Randwick and Flemington but sometimes our horse is just too slow for that !And we hate admitting it. ! Good to see 9 x connections pay their training fees for 2 x months today and some excited ones indeed eg MHouse !

    Luke Radich

It reminds me of those propaganda news stations in Russia & North Korea where if you go off the official government line and say what's really going on you're likely to be never seen again. Would be great if Luke had a podcast where he could say what he wanted without wondering if he'd get invited back again.
