ATC Can't go on like this !!

I remember packed stands at Auckland right across all stands and levels - but the world has changed and people have heaps more options to spend their discretionary $$. Therefore we need to work much harder than in the past to promote the positive aspects of our sport to the general public if we want to even maintain the existing levels of punting, racegoers and owners. This is especially important now as we've had covid hampering attendance and I strongly believe physically going to the races is an important factor in becoming interested in being an owner6 points -

Say No More posted : If you wanted an incentive to post names it is worth noting that the two entrants to post only numbers are among the five who have been eliminated. There must be a racing comp God after all Good on you Set the rules . Wack the non compliant entrants. This is a fun forum with great picking comps. Enter as per the Rules. No grizzling. Scooby, Paul ( Ponderosa ) Say No More and many other Cafes donate their time , enthusium and money. To collate and manage Race Cafe . It's a huge thrill for me and about 96 other people to enter these wonderful weekly competitions. Rev5 points -

Its not a matter of just complaining , even on this platform there has been at least 20 ideas put forward (in a constructive manner) as it is a good but not common Business ploy to ... if someone is complaining is to ask them for a solution ,Sometimes just sometimes the answer comes with the problem. ... but I for one feel nothing seems to change sufficiently to be effective. I am not anti AK. have pictures to prove I was supplied transport (a pushchair )for my first visits and from the age of 15 onwards hardly missed a meeting. (had to be careful when underage to work out early in the night which tote mother was working in so I could avoid a telling off ...lol) Auckland must survive The product as TAB calls races is where it must start .Ownership must be encouraged either in groups or syndications (Atc has had some going ) but could be on a grand scale... say the 1000s of sports clubs could with a little guidance have a horse each to follow and own (and bet on) would mean more attendance as well. great night out at great facilities. The Do Nothing option is off the table.3 points -

You know the drill by now. Posting Deadline - the posting deadline is 12.25pm on Saturday - no entries accepted after this time. For week 3 the meetings to choose from are Rotorua (M2) Riccarton (M6) Randwick (M11) Caulfield (M12) Two picks - please post horse names, eg. Rotorua Race 7: #2 Diamond Pegasus Randwick Race 7: #12 Tigertiger If you wanted an incentive to post names it is worth noting that the two entrants to post only numbers are among the five who have been eliminated. There must be a racing comp God after all and don't forget about Jokers - most of you still have two Jokers to play if you wish (not compulsory). Only one Joker per week.1 point -

Was always the highlight of autumn racing. Unfortunately, we'll never know whether moving it was smart, because you can't compare like with like any more. Which is probably why Ellerslie sold the Hill, damn them.1 point -

Time to bring this back for the autumn racing in Australia. The Sydney Cup features any number of ex-European gallopers so let's see how these new arrivals line up on their European form: CRYSTAL PEGASUS has looked very good in recent starts winning the Mornington Cup last time and while the trip is a slight question so for me is the ground as he flopped on soft ground over here and I'm not sure how Heavy a Heavy 10 really is (not as bad as a heavy 11 I would guess). SHERAZ was a decent French stayer last spring chasing home SKAZINO in the Group 3 Barbeville at Longchamp. This trip will be no problem and neither will the ground. SUREFIRE won a big handicap at Ascot last year on decent ground - he never raced on slow turf over here but his run at Rosehill last time was decent and as his dam was by Sadler's Wells it wouldn't surprise me if he loved the wet turf. CHALK STREAM races for HMQ and moved rapidly through the ratings with three straight handicap wins last summer. In the Listed Noel Murless at Ascot, however, on slower ground, he was thrashed by a horse called Scope. I note he was behind SUNFIRE at Rosehill and I think the former has more potential. I'd offer SHERAZ and SUNFIRE as the two of the ex-Europeans who I would expect to run well.1 point -

Interesting opinion, she had 6 starts as a 2yo, performed in all of them and all in black type. Usually with a week off in between runs and she never did any more than 3/4 pace in her work, was a good eater and never went shin sore, she did everything on natural ability building towards her last 2 runs for the season being the group 1s where she was beaten .1L and .9L Then as a 3yo and I was beginging to be dictated to where she should race. I was wrapped with her run at ruakaka, she was up a month earlier than I wanted her to be, over a distance and track that didn't suit her and she runs the fastest 600 of the day. You would have had to be a mug to back her that day at $1.40 after that I wanted to wait with her and wasn't prepared to run in the tarzino as a result lost the horses. I wish them all the best, at the end of the day it's their money they can run her in whatever race they want but I didn't want it to be under my name. Im no star trainer but proud of how she performed under my care and can hold my head high knowing I lost the horse because I wanted to do what I thought was best for her, not because she was 'stuffed' Cheers, Jacob McKay1 point -

My point Todamax is so what? We have more ice in some areas and less in others, more precipitation and less, higher or lower temperatures. Good to be aware of and perhaps try and predict but so what? The planet as Midget points out has gone through ice ages and all sorts. That is its evolution. We can't make it stay the same when it never has. Certainly, the wild predictions of ice melting seven or eight years ago were way off course. Evolutionary climate change has never happened with that rapidity so why would it now. There was no sound science to support it and there isn't now.1 point -
